  1. i thought about that too, if you get the tip in cash, how does that work with pension or unemployment funds? maybe that is completly different from here, but here both pension and unemployment funds are based on your income, so working under the table has a very negative effect on those parts. EDIT: if your employer does not report the tips as you said
  2. Seriously???? That little????? WOW.... I'm stunned.... I mean I know about the minimum wage thing but not that it was THAT low......... thats the big difference between minimum wage and collective agreedments (the way we do it here). minimum wage says one wage minimum for everyone, agreedments has different wages for different jobs.
  3. think i found it. but i remember it beeing quicker. http://www.basejumper.com/videos/Emergencies/Cliff_BASE_Line_Over_Malfunction_61.html
  4. i think i know which one you are thinking of, its in Lauterbrunnen and was on skydivingmovie? i found this one, not quick but very scary http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z26jrvFfTWI
  5. Why "canopy guide tones"? 1 beep means left 2 beeps means right 3 beeps.... you should have payd attention to the previous beep
  6. read a funny article in a swedish newspaper about this. perhaps not perfectly translated but you get the message wonder what plan A was according to the newspaper
  7. Yeah Ive seen that. I tried searching for it but no luck. It was called 'How to save a packjob', or something like that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFtCwvZaDB4
  8. never thought of that, and a few minutes of googling i found Warmthru. they have gloves or gloveliners that uses a Li-Ion rechargeable batteri. i havnt found any specs on size or weight on the battery but Li-Ion usually is smal and light weight. very pricy but im almost tempted to try. http://www.warmthru.com
  9. Irrelevant, these systems use static line deployment. There is a chance they will kill you or not be operated correctly, so the key is to resort to it only in situations where it improves your overall chance of survival. Not everyone is itching to hurl themselves out of a 60th storey window and people who want to take responsibility for saving themselves in a desperate situation of last resort should have the option. whats irrelevant, and what "systems" use static line? we cant read your thoughts so you need to tell us what your little mind is thinking. i dont see what kind of system that uses static line. elliptical, square, paracommanders, round and PEP (pilot parachutes) are/have all been used in freefall. what system are you talking about?
  10. my estimated survival rates did not take those things in to concern. i was thinking, how often do you see a whuffo reaching for the BOC when "acting skydiver"? i would say 100% use the right hand pulling a handle in chest height, and we all know what good that will do also keeping in mind that these people acting did not do it in stress or having their lives depending on it.
  11. yes i know some jumpplanes have that kind of doors, but is that really a stock door? isnt that a homemade door just to make it more suitable for skydiving? i dont see a reason for someone buying a plane for personal use to choose that kind of door. maybe a coolfactor
  12. does the plane have a "jumpdoor"? stock doors open like the doors on a car, right? so that means pushing the door against the airflow. i guess it can be done but what if the rigg gets stuck in the door when climbing out?
  13. exactly! i know my boss would yell "GET BACK TO WORK, im not paying you to be basejumping"
  14. well im thinking, jumping out headwind with the flames below you might not be a good idea? but ok, if you could get up on the roof and jump in any direction, well better...
  15. true, but with a round you must know in what direction the wind is going. if you guys had a parachute for the cause he wants one, how often would you repack it? and how often would you repack it if you didnt know how to pack the chute (paying a packer)? EDIT: if you choose the helicopter option, buy a shotgun to keep neighbours at a safe distance
  16. with no skydive training and sportrigg your chances of surviving is 0. with a baserigg you might have a (very) smal chance. IMO its not the parachute that saves us, its the skill and training. not knowing anything about skydiving and doing the first jump as a basejump from a burning building in a city while beeing scared (or perhaps even in panic), you are not going to make it. if i was in your clothes i would buy the escape thing posted above or some kind of rockclimbing gear. you can in a much safer way learn how those work before you need to use it.
  17. Lutz its a good thing you are safe!
  18. im impressed with the work you have done, but i think it could have been done easier. this is the file that makes a backup of my jumptrackfiles. its a bat-file that takes ~4 seconds to copy the files. it only copies new/changed files. cd /d "C:\Program Files\Jump-Track 3" start /wait Jumptrack.exe robocopy /E "C:\Users\Hellis\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Jump-Track 3" "E:\Jump-Track 3" it starts the jumptrack software and waits till i shut it down (when i have added the new jumps), and then it copies the files to a SD-card. simple and effective. i belive you could use the same thing for copying videofiles
  19. If you dont want to downsize you dont have to. but if you are going to buy new gear maybe you should concider a main with the new thinner fabrics? such as pulse or simular. so that means you can get your 170 but it will fit in a rig for a 150 (perhaps even 135?), in that way you can downsize later without buying a new rig. keep in mind that they can simle however much they want, its still your choise
  20. thats why im asking it sounds odd to me too. could be my translation that made it unlear. if i should translate it word by word, it wont be much clearer. the text uses the word locked, but i sure hope you dont have a lock as keylock on your wingsuit, so my guess is they mean fixed, as it does not have a cutsystem perhaps? could that be it? i have very litle knowledge about wingsuits, so dont ask me
  21. in the SBF (swedish SIM) it says: a wingsuit with fixed arms and legs you need 500 jumps. if it does not have fixed arms/legs you need C-licence and 300 jumps. can someone explain the difference? the rules are exist to prevent deaths. if foregin jumpers should jump with their rules, i would think some people would renew their licence in other countries. in sweden we have a rule that you need 500 jumps to do a hookturn (600 on our DZ), if some 50 jump foregin wonder would come here and jump on their rules, do a 360 and bounce. ok the moron only hurt himself but there would be a big investigation, and the general public would question what we are doing. but on the other hand i dont think we can/should force foregin jumpers to follow our canopy size rules.
  22. i would say no, i would rather help them with the packing and show them what will happen if you do a misstake. i think its better to show how to and how not to, rather than as you are about to board the plane say 'you fucked up!'
  23. another way is to rout the bridle back up and under the colsingflap as this picture shows. http://www.hellis.me/DSC00191.JPG this one could fool someone if its done in a nice way. if you would hide all the excess bridle above the pin i thik it could fool someone doing a quick pincheck. i left it out for the picture.
  24. heres a picture of one. i looped the bridle around the last colsingflap making the bridle exit at the top. when i pull the bridle (PC pulling) the pin does not move at all. its unlikely that you would pack like that but if you would do a rushpack because you have to be on the next load, you might not notice when the bridle loops around the colsingflap. i tried to upload it here but it was too big, tried to make it smaler but i didnt work. so heres a link instead: http://www.hellis.me/DSC00190.jpg how to check for it? i think the easiest way is if everyone at the DZ agree on one way of routing the bridle and pin, in that way you will easily see if someone else made a misstake, and they can easily look at your gear aswell.
