  1. I made my first 75 or so GTI jumps on a Vengence 150 loaded about 1.5.6:1. The last time I did was the first time I ever used my wing cutaway handles. I love those canopies (I later bought a 135), but I jump a Pilot 168 for all my wingsuit skydives now . I never had too much trouble with line twists, but alot of diving turns on opening that were usually correctable with risers. If you can swing it, having a docile main on yer back for WS jumps is really comforting, which I'd imagine only helps your focus on the flight. Have fun! Blair
  2. For everybody out there thats coming, take a minute to look at your water gear, think about how to use it, and remember your training, and what you're gonna do in the event of an unintentional water landing. Its there for a reason, be prepared to use it if necessary. Yea after you check it all out, cram the jacket all the way in the corner, then you can fit in beer tix and your ID for when you land at the bar Later Blair
  3. Friday July 13th 220' B Mojo 280 with 13 patches on it packed in a Hummit 515 PCA'd me off for the most incredible experience of my life. We went back again the next night, this time my pack job...and well, here we are. Thanks bro! Blair
  4. How about a Tom tale: So its a weekday, Tom's in Carolina for the holiday, we'd been jumping a few short ones by his house and ours prior too tonight. We get to our loca A (thanks 515) and low an behold they left the vader on. Normally we climb to 325' for a fatass 2 second delay, but tonight we brought an extra slider up rig just in case. The exit point has intermidate cloud cover with a decent wind pushing away, and ideal conditions for icing. So after clearing the ice from the exit point, 515 launches from about 1200' and does the textbook 515 puuurfect jump. Tom's last off, he liked the attention. 704 and I already stashed watching as Tom's track kicks in for a second, reach, pitch...We both say something like..." o shit man, he's gonna land on that ""BANG"" building... d'oh! Literally he had enough time to get a nice flare in for a relatively soft landing on top of the ONLY outbuilding that was about 10'X20X on the roof, dead center on the apex. He WAS accurate right Rod!! He was OK, and immediately 704 and 515 were over the compound to the work truk parked inside, with a nice big ladder strapped on the side. Got Tom the ladder, and he climbed down after stashing his gear. 2 Nice size prints from the HanWags was all that was left. So if you ever saw his Avatar with the game in the pic, that's why. We played a little Chutes and Laddars that night. Good stuff. I have a large word doc with most of my 'tom stories' on them, I used to cry trying to add to it, now I laugh everytime I read it, and remember more about how THANKFUL I am to have known the Perrine Troll. Later Blair Tom I miss you bro!
  5. Yea depends on object, winds, LZ, type of jump etc. Slider down is not uncommon to be under 200' before you deploy, slider up is so varied. The only time I'm premature is when Magot's sister is holding my PC, as I'm used to his mom's hands. Later Blair
  6. Very cool Thanks for sharing that. He flies with me on every jump, and always will. RIP brother. Later Blair

  9. Yo, Was wondering if most people grasp and throw the PC with your palm UP or DOWN when using the BASE pouch? Specifically on the V1? Thanks Blair

    BURNING SITES

    I like this one
  11. That's a good one, mind if I borrow it?
  12. Ya, I don't know about the choppers' power, just speaking from personal experience read: I am a Fat American and fall down fast
  13. For me, it was WAY more than a slight downdraft, I fell and fell as my wings just flapped, until I was out from the rotor wash, then off to the races. I've jumped maybe 3 different types of choppers, all 4-6 seaters, so that's about all I have to go on. Actually, one day I jumped a chopper then a balloon, and there was a NOTICEABLE difference, to me, in how quickly I was able to fly. Also may have something to do with the fact that 80% of my wingsuit BASE jumpes are with a tailwind Later Blair

Has been updated on The List. Miss you brother..... Blair
  16. Yea, what he said. Also, the suit doesn't start flying like a BASE exit AT ALL from a hover, IMHO. It takes a lOT longer from the chopper. I like the idea of forward (ground?) speed to get flying sooner from a chopper, however if you are 'training' for WS BASE, then the hover is the way to go, unless you can get a balloon Later Blair
  17. So its open season on their towers and even corprate HQ. SWEET, any 'locals' in the calling area

    Tom Manship

Hey Blair, I can't post. Will you please post this under my name. Tom always had the ability to make me laugh at the simplest stuff. His sense of humor was awsome. I have so much respect for him. Tom had a way of making the scariest jumps seem a little less scary. Especially jumping the potato span before it's light enough to see the water. It didn't matter if we were jumping or wearing out "The Outback Steakhouse", Tom always kept everyone entertained. Tom was one of the nicest people I've ever known and today I got to meet his family and learned that his kindness runs in the family. Thanks for all of the laughs and all of the wise advice. I'll miss you buddy, You were one of the "good guys" Tony Herring BASE 516 a.k.a. Base-Rigger
