  1. wow...i am in the midwest near the epicenter and didn't even notice a thing.....i need to get out more!!
  2. Is there going to be a gathering of DZ.Com'rs there? Maybe even a big way?? Go for the record?? I"ll be there with the gang from SEMO skydiving! This looks like a great time!! Look out golf course, here i come!!! i want to swoop some old guys in funny pants....they'll probably be laughing at our clothes though...
  3. in this case, i would agree 100% with formal muslim law... LOP BOTH OF THEIR FUCKING HANDS OFF!
  4. I had a small scene at an airport in Florida, when an ignorant security guard insisted on opening my reserve. FYI: They get really upset when you grab their wrist and threaten to break it if they pull that silver handle. This alerted the attention of a national guardsman standing nearby, who ordered me to release the guard/baggage inspector. Upon looking at said national guardsman and seeing his black beret (thrillseek used to be a ranger and is still severly pissed about the army taking away our tradition) I got even more upset. Finally, a supervisor came around with some common sense and asked the right cypres questions (i.e. is it mechanical or pyrotechnic?) they x-rayed my gear bag another 3 times after that, and i was able to go through. The issue is that the people checking bags need to be informed as to what skydiving gear is, and how to handle (or not handle, as the case may be) it. Educate them and we'll all have an easier time.
  5. hmmm that's almost $2k with all of the extras... I think ours will sell for under $600 and be as user friendly if not easier. i think the cost is what keeps more DZs from using this stuff. Anyone else have info on this? oh, and thanks for the info
  6. here's the background pic anyway... cool shot a friend got of me
  7. Remember, not only is the material smalle on one of those, the lines are also shorter, which results in quicker reactions. The omega is an eliptical canopy which makes it a little quicker still. My experience at 35 jumps: started the weekend jumping a 288 manta. Borrowed a 210, then a 190, then a 170, then a 150 sabre, then a broken ankle...luckily that was all it was. I didn't have the skills to be flying something that small yet. In my opinion, you'll have just as much fun under a 170 while you learn. You'll have plenty of time to downsize when you are more prepared. Be careful and good luck!
  8. Justin, Thanks for posting this. I know our friend was always safety concious, and posted here often regarding safety matters. By printing out that info about canopy flight and making it available to others at our dz, you are being a responsible D-licensed skydiver. More people should take that sort of initiave and look out for their fellow skydivers. Thanks again man. A.T.
  9. right side injuries are tough..... everything is with the right side, with the exception of the reserve. You have to KNOW that you are 100% before resuming jumping. Safety first. As far as Tandem goes, i don't know if that will help with the confidence or not...up to you on that one. Are you able to arch and hold it comfortably with no pain or tension? What about the amount of strain when you pull?? all things to consider. Just my $.02, but i would go with the doctor's recommendation as well as your safety concious JM.
  10. what are the doctors saying? which shoulder is it?
  11. it all depends on who the designer is....i know one of them and he is hard to contact. Can you give a little hint?
  12. Who out there has a need for this at your dz? i am working on something that might be a huge help and cheaper than whatever they have out there already. It all started as a way to help organize my dz, but i think a lot of other dz's can use it as well....thoughts??
  13. it's all biodegradable... he he he he
  14. Oh, from my DZ owner: the best way to do this is to unroll the TP all the way, then add some duct tape to the end of the roll for a light weight. Next re-roll it and drop at about 700-1000 feet.
  15. still waiting to get the photos developed from our "anacondas" this weekend. Really fun to fly through them, but i missed mine by about 20 feet...damn!!
  16. Anyone else TP the DZ this weekend?? Me and 4 other jumpers took a roll each on a load and TP'd SEMO Skydiving. I know you all were going to, so let's hear about it!
