  1. Adam, We are jumping out of a Cub?! Thanks for the details! Yet, it sounds like a fun challenge. -Anna
  2. Skydive Indiana is closed for good. The DZO moved to TN with a new job. I am currently Prez of the Purdue Club & can help answer anyones questions. Val was my trusty treasurer, but she had to go off and graduate. Right now, the Purdue club is jumping at Millennium in Kankakee. As for the student, we have an instructor in the club who could verify for who ever needs to know. That really sucks that they didn't get to jump, but I am glad to see that somepeople actually look at log books!
  3. When it comes to money, skydiving uses a lot of it.... But, we all know it is worth it. I got through training while being in college becuase I saved up before I started a training program. I did my first jump in Septemeber of 1999 & fell in love with the sport, but I didn't start training then. It was torture knowing that I could be jumping, but I am glad that I had the will power to wait (and, besides it is awfully cold in Indiana in the winter). I waited till Spring, so that I could save up some money & be able to do more than one jump every three weeks. Being able to jump often as a student really helped ease the learning curve. And, as a college student I can say that I don't always get to jump as much as I want because of money, but I refuse to put myself in debt. I love skydiving & all I keep telling myself is that I am going to college to get a job that will support jumping (& packing too, because I hate that part
  4. I thought this might make for an ineresting post... How often do you look at your altimeter during a skydive? I look 3-4 times, and the checks are usually at the same altitudes.
  5. Okay, I have tried to stay out of this post, but in response to... Vallerina's (record winds, time, take pictures prior to exiting to show clouds weren't an issue, etc etc). and diverdriver's Name another DZ that does that. I rest my case.....probably won't happen. I have to say that if a DZ is under pressure to prove they are safe & they really care about their jumpers and the sport...THEY WILL GO to lenghts to show that they are safe & don't jump through clouds. FOR EXAMPLE, Skydive Indiana was being accused of jumping through clouds and was threatened to be kicked off the airport, so they made the extra effort. And, we took a picture from outside the door prior to every jump. I understand that it is unreasonable and time consuming for every DZ to start keeping records, BUT if your DZ is under scrutinty & the home to all your jumpers is being threatened, who wouldn't take the time to 'prove' their case?
  6. I am looking to get a new canopy & am wondering what the pack volume is for a sabre 150. I am getting rid of that canopy & would just like to know what type of space I am dealing with. Thanks! Anna
  7. I would have to say that Empuribrava is the most beautiful dropzone that I have jumped at. Between the ocean, beach, & canals, it made a scenic freefall that I won't ever forget. (Add a sunset to that, and it is un-describable). -Anna
  8. I keep my rig in my gearbag in my closet. She stays in there all week until she learns how to pack herself! :-) -Anna
  9. Just wondering where people are going for Labor Day weekend. I have decided where to go yet.
  10. I am planning on going for the whole week! -Anna
  11. Alright everyone, I can tell it is driving you nuts not to know the manufacturer. I will just tell you, but still try to keep opinions unbiased. I got the suit from DaKine Rags. It is beautiful, but I wouldn't have ordered it for a long time because right after the WFFC I ran into lots of medical bills and really couldn't use the suit. So, knowing all of that...any new opinions. I will probably try to see him at the WFFC & give him money, but I dont' know how much I owe. I know that their suits vary in price lots because they are designed for a specific person.
  12. Val, I never got a payment method. I was never told anything more. Where are you jumping this weekend? I am going to Chicagoland on Saturday. -Anna
  13. Here is the situation...I could use some fellow jumpers advice. Let's say that last year at the WFFC you sat down with a jumpsuit designer and designed a jumpsuit for yourself. At the time you told the designer that you weren't ready to make the purchase and you would contact them when you had the cash. Two months later, your jumpsuit comes in the mail. You contact the designer and offer to send it back because you don't have the money to pay for it & you never asked them to make the suit. The designer says don't worry about it, you can pay later. A few other times you have contacted the designer and asked for the total amount due. The designer offers no reply at all. The question.... What do you do? Do you just send some money? Do you wait for the designer to respond? Sorry for keeping everything so vauge, but I don't want your responses to be biased because of a possible past relationship with the designer. Thanks! Anna
  14. I know where Val can hold the beer bottle! -Anna

    Homeless!

I'm sad, along with my fellow skydivers because my home DZ is closing. Skydive Indiana has been my home for a little over 2 years now and I am forced to search for a new "weekend home." Everyone there treated my like family and that is why I feel "homeless." I know that there are lots of other great DZs and I will find another to call home, but I am still going to miss the place where I began. Not only am I going to miss having a DZ that I am familiar with, but I am going to miss all the people. I've been there with them through atomic sit ups, boogies, dinners at Arnis, century club, drunk moments (too many to state), pies, and so much more. I just want everyone there to know that they will be missed, and we need to keep in touch... I still believe I owe a case or two of beer. And, on a happier note, it has been a little over 2 years and I am finally going to hit #100 on my next jump. Thanks, Skydive Indiana for introducing me to the world of skydiving!!!! Blue skies & safe landings, Anna
