ROFLMAO. I just had my first experience with a smelly person on the ride to alti. And I wasnt even jumping! I was on a fly along, for the sunset load. And damn did it stink. I mean it stunk something putrid. I wanted to stick my head out the door (to get some fresh air and to jump) but anyway, it was just putrid. At least the person only farted, cause if they shit themselves I would have been throwing up like crazy. anyway. im hoping for great weather, quick rides to alti, and no "natural" gasses from anyone this weekend!

hey all thanks for all the tips. you guys are totally right. I just have to relax and smile, all the while listening to my JM. I trust the staff at Xkeys to guide me in the right direction so Im not worried aobut tainted advice. And i know that they arent gonna let me up there without totally understanding it all. so thanks for the tips. Ill take it all with me. but if i see a fly at 13'5 im gonna try and get em! nothinng like a mid jump snack! froggie

this may not belong here, another thread might better suit it but... i was talking to a whuffo friend tonight and he asked me "arent all skydivers cocaine heads?" I couldnt believe it. I just sat there and looked at him like "what the hell are you talking aobut?!?" So i explained to him that no, not all skydivers are cocaine heads. and as a matter of fact, the two cant really exist side by side. they both cost too much. And i told him that that idea was ridiculous. SOme people. wait, whuffos. dont they know anything?

i dont know about you guys. but i cut and pasted the address into my browser and when it took me to the web page my computer went crazy. all types of weird noises. nothing happening. blank grey screen. whats with that?

It seems to me, from just hanging out here for a bit now, and thru general conversations that there are a lot of skydivers out there who use to be addicted to drugs/ lifestlyes... whatever. This is a trend that Ive noticed outside of this web site. Ive seen it in a couple of skydiver friends from around my way too. Am I just really niave or does it seem like a lot of us became addicted to a skydiving lifestlye and have left the past behind us? I know that this whole skydiving thing has made me a much stronger person,it was a way to take back what was once lost. And its given me the determination not to get into an old lifestyle that was so destructive. Im not verbalizing this how Im thinking it... somewhere between what im thinking and what im typing things arent translating right. So please try to just bear with my thoughts here, and understand what im writing. Point being, in its simplest form, have a lot of us chose skydiving as an addiction and kicked the old ones out? or found that putting our money/time/effort/life into skydving was more important than drugs? Or found the stregth to quit cause of the change that skydiving has on a person? damn. still doesnt sound how im thinking it. froggie

I cant agree more. It stuff like this that is needed, cause simply telling them doesnt work. Thanks for the thread. Smoking is an addiction. and if were not dead set to quit, then we cant quit. Being someone who has dealt with multiple addictions at once, and was forced to quit cold turkey, the smoking is the only thing that stayed. But ya know what? I didnt mind at the time. Everything else is my life was so much more important/relivant/critical. Smoking didnt effect me. But this is a good thing, that smoking is the biggest issue in my life right now. Because to think about what was, and what now is, Ive come a long way. It only took going downhill for an eternity to realize that. So, Im glad that Im okay with my past, i never regret it because if what it has taught me. SO, im hoping smoking ends up like that Frank, thankyou for the reality check. you couldnt me more dead on. they do benifit from my addiction to nicotine. And i dont want them to benifit. froggie

Aggiedave, WAY TO GO! it gives me a feeling of pride to hear that somebody quit smoking and has been succesful in thier attempts. The shaking and horrible feelings of being without nicotine really scares me. And the regularity of it...well, nobody likes change. Im trying to quit, thanks for the wish of good luck. froggie

...skydiving is already in your blood! Careful not to get pulled over, you may be over the legal skydiving blood limit. Besides, my best friend is a cop for my hometown, so whenever I do get "pulled over" its cause one of the Boys wants to torcure me or ask me where davie is (my best friend). I agree that smoking is dumb, smokers smell and we usually have yucky yellow teeth. WE REALIZE THIS! WE ARE THE ONES SMOKING AFTER ALL! But if you have never smoked and quit then you have NO idea how difficult it is to stop and IMHO you really have no place saying anything about it. pull, flare, huff and puff back to the landing area, lisa sorry about the caps lock before. i havent learned how to use the last post in my post.. but anyway, lisas right. We realize that this is a disgusting habit. but its a hard one to break. Is there anything in your life that you have done EVERY DAY for the past four years? cause for me there is, smoking. I dont like that I smoke. I dont like that smell. I dont like that smoking is the only thing that, to use a word loosely, is regular in my life. I have changed so much (for the better) in the past few years that the fact that i still smoke isnt a big deal. It doesnt make who i am, it is just an aspect of me. The truth of the matter is, we smokers reach for a cigarette all the time, when were stressed, bored, anxious, doing something we always do (like playing on the computer. I would like to quit, but the aniety and bitchiness that boils up when im without my nicotine is just too extreme. Im actually hoping to quit after i start working at the dz, cause right now, a cigarette is the only way that I get a break at my current job. SO, instead of bashing us, why dont you try to support us in quitting? we need the support, we need friends to tell us not to smoke. by the way "i love ya grogs. And if you get fat cause youre eating so much more, then go get fat! youre doing great without cigarretes. I want you to quit, do it for you, do it for all of us that havent found the willpower to quit yet! froggie

okay guys. Ground school is only a few days away, and with my schedual im not gonna be on these threads much. So im asking this question ahead of time.... Any last minute advice for me? This is going to be a totally new experience to me, and im trying to go into it as educated as possible. Any tips would be appreciated.. even ones that have to do with manifesting and all (even though ive done almost all of my paperwork already so i didnt have to on sunday). i wore a frap hat on my last skydve, back in november. IT kept the hair nice and untangled, but going into our first spin you could see my scrunchi fly off cause i didnt have the ends of my hair tucked under. The video shows it all, and it shows me after i took the frap hat off. My bangs were standng up on an angle. SO, the frap hat keeps ya untangled, but it sure in hell dont make for a pretty hairstyle afterwards. :) froggie,
