  1. You are flying your body. That is a catchy name. Don't try to fly a wingsuit until you can fly your body. ***standardised and rating regulated FJC for WS'ers is all that is needed. I dont see how this would hurt WS'ing in any way.... Just this low-timer's opinion. We have a standardized course its so standard you can't tell the difference between the BM and PF course,... a regulated version isn't needed and there is no proof ( as in none) that one is. A regulated version would not be the end of the world but going around saying bad things that are not true about the wingsuit community to prove that regulation is needed is a terribly horrific thing. Beside the USPA has better thing to do than to listen to some crybabies .
  2. however you're fucking nuts. ...and dangerous......
  3. I think I could fly past people under canopy at 50' away all day long and not pose any danger to them. I'm no expert, but it's not that hard. I'm jealous I never see the tandems after they exit. They have landed and doing the interview by the time I'm even getting close to deploying. I'm a very efficient flyer... yes "that good". My good buddy will back me up on that. Funari quote> "What does matter is you have sacrificed any credibility you may have had simply through being "that good" yet never putting up the cards to have to prove it.
  4. Damn, there goes my request for pictures. I even said pleaze.
  5. I would be happy to have all the bitching about WSI and regulations and peoples interests and motives not in this thread. adding to the conversation as a WS guy that likes to do Tandem Fly By's????? Scott C. 1 Boy starts thread about flyby opinions. The only correct answer should have been post #4 by Chris Warnock. 2 Boy travels to BOD meeting to discuss the need for greater oversight of WS discipline. Presents an example situation of a tandem wingsuit flyby so close as to have touched or harshly burbled the tandem. 3 Boy goes home to post about instruction oversight in the flyby thread. The whole thing was about phishing for your naughty habits and you provided them on a silver platter while the "FAA watched". Then there was that little crazy/funny part by our very own Atmo boy Funari. I don't get it but it sure is fun.
  6. Redline from Lodi used the Express for a while. Sorry I don't have contact info.
  7. Good instruction we have now. How will the proposed method make it better? Two young men who were both told "NO wingsuits for you yet" by people that were looking out for them. That is the current systems enforcement in action. These boys went someplace else where they were just a face in the crowd, they did not disclose their low experience. They successfully circumnavigated oversight with disregard to wingsuit recommendations. Who do you want held accountable and to what measure? How does the proposed system enforce this due process of accountability?
  8. I can't believe I got suckered into posting again.Quote You didn't get suckered. Its a very good post and some fraudulent, never been evaluated, over the phone rated, bogus BMI, current USPA commitee member could never say you have no credibility and your opinion does not count by baselessly accusing you of being dangerous. Glad to have you back Chuck.
  9. All the suits have the new foam booties. and mini ribs on the trailing edge to reduce drag. The leading edges are cleaned up, and the inlets are moved. Justin Can you describe the foam booties? Describe how the leading edge is cleaned up or better yet some pictures of all of the new features? Please.
  10. Very true indeed from the ground things don't always appear how they really are. How many people have been scolded for pulling low only to prove that they were indeed way higher than the minimums by the neptune or protrac. 4. No wingsuits on loads where there are tandems on board Effectively the end of wingsuiting at some DZs.
  11. I get blamed for that one all the time. Even though he did real well, on wing suits anyway. Didn't you informally swoop coach him on his velocity with under 300 jumps? I saw you guys swooping together is why i ask. I wouldn't dare say with any certainty. Shanon? I can't believe you've forgotten her name. She had like 500-600 jumps. Her posts pop up every once in a while. She did own the record for the farthest off landing @ the DZ but it was still around a mile not more. I have the video. She went the wrong way and I had to catch her. In the video you can see me giving her frantic hand signals to follow me back. Can't really grapple with someone in a wingsuit and change their heading, you do realize that. Nope, I remember it vividly. May 31 2004 about 2pm black Matter 2 wingsuit same as mine size wise. She got a ride back I had to walk. Lovely lady, bad navigator. I think you are wrong on the east of Goetz rd thing. That has been the Practice for CRW jumps and high pullers since the 90s. At least we were doing it in CRW way before WS. And to this day east of the DZ up to a mile is still the wingsuit operating area to keep away from the freefallers and high pullers. I'll have a talk with the chief pilot this weekend and see if he recalls the talk with base officials about a wingsuit intercepting a tanker. There is no tanker in my video. Maybe, maybe not but I'm not a liar Whoa whoa! I followed the recommendations on my first flight even paid for a WSI. I don't have a damn the rules attitude. I do ridicule fraudulent WS Instructors and bogus atmonauts though. I don't preach to others what they should do one way or another. Its their decision they are grown up skydivers. I'm not in the police or babysitting business.
  12. Horseshit Glenn. I've seen you "train" someone who did not meet the recommendations, and it turned out poorly. Further conversation on this subject from you only serves to make you look less credible. If you are refering to the young man who is now paralyzed from a canopy injury I can honestly say I did not train him. He borrowed a suit from someone in the ghetto, not one of mine. I never knew him until I met him in the loading area. Initially he didn't want to fly with me because he claimed he was just barely learning. On the ride to altitude when I asked him his pattern plan and I told him I would go the opposite way he changed his mind and asked if I could follow him. I am however guilty of not reporting him to the S&TA that was siting right next to him on the ride to altitude once he told me how many jumps he actually had, barely over 100 and how many WS flights he had 0 . Not that I would report someone, even today, for not following the recommendations. The recommendations are not a joke to me I followed them but I don't enforce them to other people. Despite bad judgement he displayed he performed excellently on his first flight, I have video, and the following flights that day. You were not on the DZ that day so there is no way you could possibly know this. If you are referring to another actual student of mine that didn't meet the requirements I'd really like a name and how in your opinion exactly it turned out poorly. You can blurt it out here or send me a PM if you want to protect the name of the innocent because the whole jump is probably on video. But without any data its all hearsay. But I'll make you a deal with a name I'll post the corresponding first flight video if it is truely bad I'll forever shut up on this subject, that is in the other WSI instructor thread, this is the flyby thread. Hopefully you won't accuse "seeing" me perform flybys. You decide: help me help you shut me up, name the name.
  13. Throw some boobies in there to make it more worthwhile or the FAA guys watching! Some nice big ones in the front and some nasty ones towards the end.
  14. There is a fear that statements made in order to prove recklessness in the wingsuit community are not always based on fact. The statement that the recommendations are bullshit and a joke is in itself false. Follow them they work, will continue to work just fine. I will admit I haven't done a first flight course in four years but have done plenty and my students saw me. But you have a very self defeating view of instruction with a myoptic focus on the first flight. The first flight is just a taste. Instruction is ever ongoing. We are all teachers and we should all be learning continously. Not just the heros of the first flight instructor program. Will the Norwegians approve of the US standardized program? And I'd like to remind you we do have a standard now. A standard set recommendations have proved themselves for a decade. ***Back to tandem flybys....The FAA came to US saying they're watching. They're watching. On YouTube, Vimeo, etc. If you think that needs to be blamed on someone, fine. Blame the people that post that content so it can be seen by the FAA. You tube and Vimeo are blocked at my work. I can just see a deep pocketed government agency IT protocal that allows streaming media and personal website searching for "possible" investigatory purposes. Yeah sure, when a 500k dollar six month investigation and terminations regarding why somebody found boobies on the government network at an aviation federal building during tight budget years comes out it will make an airspace violation look as tame as watching grass grow.
  15. The TI should have addressed this at the time with the people involved. The story relayed or re-relayed or convoluted into something it isn't should never be presented without hard facts of time and place and personnel in question in front of the BOD or FAA, that serves no body. You are wrong the bulk of all wingsuiters we know today have successfully been trained with methods that fall within these recommendations. It is fair that most of us are within the guidlines of the recommendations. They are not a joke to me. They are a reliable reference. Not everybody follows them and we even have some dire examples of not following them. I must be obtuse. How is a special syllabus or rating going to make people more "aware" that these practices are dangerous than the current method does not?
  16. My diagnosis is wingsuiters munchausen syndrome. Paint a false picture of discipline that its hurting, in need of regulation and out side intervention in policing it self. Possibly destroying it in the process in order to appear as its saviour.
  17. Was there a real incident, or is it fiction? Was the incident, real or fictional, presented to the BOD as real? There is no tandem strike incedent. There was a presentation to the BOD with the FAA present as if there was one. Check posts #30-31 of this tread.
  18. I don't swoop tandems there is no lesson for me there. Are you profiling me because I fly a wingsuit Tom? I guess all wingsuiters can expect more negative profiling if some of our own members keep spinning up the BOD and DZOs with incedents that never happened. We called around to our wingsuiting buddy's and DZ manifests to check up on the details of an incedent that has no details because its hearsay. There would be nothing to learn by waiting for details as there are no details. We suspected this going in so no worrys. The conversation failed to stay private when a claim of a west coast strike was posted here based on this private conversation all driven by a claim of an unsubstantiated incedent that someone was "aware of". It isn't a witch hunt it was a fact hunt. Seems we got to the truth. BTW I don't blame you or Chuck. You just happened to be pawns to someone else's agenda.
  19. I told a story of a jump I'm aware of where a WS pilot skimmed a main or at the least flew close enough over it to burble the tandem. Are you equally aware that this very "story" is the one that Chucky turned into a wingsuiter on the west coast has already flown into a tandems suspension lines? Do you care? Equally suspect as we called every active dropzone on the west coast for news of this tandem strike and none had heard of anything of the sort.
  20. It's kind of funny, we go out and do really stupid stuff and then post it on YouTube as quick as we can to tell our "no shit there I was" story, and in this case, it's bitten our butts. Good point! Which reminds me, were the presentations at the USPA meeting video documented, maybe uploaded? It would be interesting to reveal the source of the tandem strike info if it was part of a presentation.
  21. Simplification NOT regulation I say!
  22. I'm in. No comments about furniture or flooring or I will post a picture of my hairy.....
  23. Made contact with a tandem pair? Suspension lines, canopy fabric, person to person? News like this would travel very fast locally even off these forums simply by word of mouth. I'm sure all wingsuiters would be sternly briefed by manifests. So you are saying this has already happened, although no injuries and that it happened on the west coast? Would that be north, mid or socal region? Can you elaborate? This info would be very worthy of posting in the incedents section.
  24. Wow, when did this happen, and why wasn't it posted on somewhere? People brake finger nails and post about it, but not this? Exactly! Its an incident in the least, nothing posted there. The SoCal DZs are not shy about sharing info of this nature. Warnings about just such a thing, if indeed it actually happened, would have spread by now unless....... Didn't we just recently hear about an alleged rumor from someone on the USPA about "impending" wingsuit regulation?
