  1. I dont weigh much and started on the 220, after 15 jumps I own a sabre 170, I am still well under a 1:1 wing loading and find it substantial for the time being, like everyone stresses here, dont be in a rush to downsize. Seems weird to me that your instructor would even feel comfortable with doing that. My canopy performance as a student was documented as very good or excellent and everyone I have jumped with was uneasy of the idea of me going from a 200 to the sabre 170 that I bought. I jumped from the 200 to the 170 and did fine. At your weight however, if it isnt something you are comfortable with, I wouldnt do it. Your equivalent would be me jumping a 135 or 150 maybe, which I am not comfortable with yet. I weigh 140 out the door probably just to give you an idea with 15 jumps and only 2 PLF which were minor
  2. had 1:1 last week with a new rig. Still owe beer for that one.
  3. at least 2 that I jumped out of at cross keys in NJ im sure there are more though
  4. wish I had your problem. I do not think I am toooooo bad looking either haha
  5. I have a metal ring on my mirage G3 Dbag, I would assume its there for a reason. Kinda like the little piece of Velcro on my bridle and container, just to make sure you keep enough slack on closing pin. I am sure its there for a reason.
  6. Slight tumble being so nervous on exit then managed to get it out and open in about 1k or so
  7. I did want to clarify that I have recieved an email back, but still didnt get my card, so I have had responses just no card as of yet.
  8. I get my magazine and received the SIM that I ordered promptly. Emailed and called USPA with no card as of yet.

    Scared

Anyone ever been scared even after 15 jumps? I only had 1 jump with a minor line twist and for some reason find myself shitting bricks even thinking about it. I think about skydiving all the time and it gives me butterflys but i still want to do it more than anything. Anyone else ever get this? Think its normal?
  10. I am only on student status with 15 jumps but I obviouslly applied for USPA membership months ago and still have not received a card, i still have my temporary card that I got when i started my AFF jumps. Was just wondering if i had to wait till i got a license to receive a card in the mail or what the deal was. I already emailed USPA about a month ago and still nothing in the mail.
  11. My slider appears larger than most and it is collapse able, First jump with a slider like that, definitely alot more peaceful when you dont have the slider flapping in the wind. also wanted to note that my sabre did not slam me, it seemed to go from the bag to fully open almost instantly. I usually grab the risers as the canopy is sniveling but i grabbed and nothing there, then all of a sudden im in the saddle with one end cell partially closed, which was quickly corrected. I like the swift opened it seemed smooth but much faster than my navigator and silhouette opened.
  12. sorry for the hijack, just figured as the above poster mentioned the importance of PC stowing
  13. well welcome aboard, what he said is accurate and trust me, you dont want to jump with wind speeds much more than 10 knots as they get much higher at higher altitudes which can be scary when you arent flying forward or in other cases, flying backward. Never experienced flying backward, but had almost no ground speed above 1k
  14. So just out of curiosity, if i fold the pilot chute bottom side up, with the bridle folded neatly inside with my first fold in half to make a calzone, then in have again to make a slice, then in half one more time followed by an S fold the stuffing it BOC? this is acceptable?
  15. I did hapkido as part of my tae kwon do class, it seemed interesting but very complicated compared to the rather simple moves of TKD. I have won a few sparring and breaking competitions with tae kwon do but hapkido is definitely a bit more interesting and probably more real world oriented in terms of self defense, more like jujitsu for instance.
  16. I know there are alot of different issues when it comes to camera flying but I just wanted to know what jump #'s everyone started camera flying around. It is one of the main things I would love to do and wanted to know what everyone thought would be a good time to get into it.
  17. definitely positives and negatives to both. It is obviously more based on personal preference and your disciplines, Cant hurt to have both
  18. according to the SIM its only 100 jumps for the C. Correct me if i am wrong please but...anyway sorry for the hijack CONGRATS!!! and dont forget beer for that one!
  19. I definitely like how it flies, still having trouble with constantly landing short. guess im just afraid of landing long. anyway it was giving me a little more ground rush than i was used to under 200+ SF wings so i flared it a little high but still managed to recover it with a stand up landing with little running haha
  20. First jump on the Sabre!!! it definitely opens quick without almost no snivel but it didnt slam me by any means. I guess this means I owe beer now? First jump on a new rig
  21. My first solo jump, I focused on a nice exit, followed by a nice stable relaxed fall and maybe a few turns to check out the view that I had never really seen before because I was so focused on my instructor and accomplishing my tasks. It was a most peaceful jump. after doing coach jumps, I apply those ideas on my solo jumps just to practice. Only 10 jumps from my A!!!
  22. If you are just checking email, its not like you would be sending tremendous amounts of data and maxing out their limit. Anyway around here we pretty much only have unlimited service. At the same token though, I love above a convenience store and once logged 13 users on my network at one time. So it was obviously time to secure it
  23. Just seemed to me that alot of first time tandems get very sick after the ride, anyone else seen this or agree? Took a few friends for their first tandems and 2 of them yakked on the way home, and NO I wasnt driving any speculation as to what could cause this or how to prevent it? My friends are all healthy people who eat fairly well.
  24. I graduated on jump #10 then did high and low solo and my first coach jump in the same day. Doing more in one day at a beginner level seems to make each one that much more easy
