When they're older, make them get jobs in some place like a Burger King. Then tell them to take a real good, hard look around them. They'll stay in school. My dad took me and my brother to Texas in August and we worked the fields witrh relatives who were and are migrant workers. We only did it for a week, but it left a lasting impression. He said you can do work like this for the rest of your life or you can go to school and get an education. All those years i thought he was just mean. It awsome to parents take this much interest in thier kids future. My dad taught us common sense and good manners. Take your kids to homeless shelters and just help,out for an half a day. Show your kids that we are people no matter what. So when they are a little older they arent uncomfortable around the less fortunate. My kids always helped out at Xmas time at the shelter my dad ran. It also inspired tehm to work a little harder in school. My dad use to also create problems for us and then let us come up with ways to solve them, common sense scenarios. Like what to do if your wheel falls off and all the lug nuts are gone. We all know that one but things like that get the problem solving skills going early. There is always a way! I know its corny but my dad use to tell us long before Yoda used it, "There is no trying, there is do or dont do" So i just broke up with this woman who wasn't even my girlfriend! Well, it gave me focus. Which I really, really needed. And it beat the hell out of playing golf. My clubs haven't seen the light of day since I made the first tandem July 4th. I have to come up for golf here, focus is the key to golf. I played enough to qualify for the US Open one year. It takes a tremeduos amount of focus and dedication at the practice range to get to that level. Of course your not going to die if you screw up but you could loose a boat load of money. Standing over a 3 footer for birdie or par for 2 or 3 grand will make your pooper just a liiiiiiittle tighter. Your signature is hilarious...reminds me of the classic Mitch Hedberg line: "I don't have a girlfriend, but I do know a girl who would get f***ing pissed off if she heard me say that." Yeah it comes from a previous thread about a crazy woman i was dating and her best friend who is a therapist, man that was a wierd time, they both were too frickin smart for thier own good. Oh no, no, no, no!!! I didn't dump my friends for skydiving - it kinda looks that way with what I wrote in the "fuck 'em" reply, but there's a couple of them do nothing but bash the sport and I really don't care to hear it. I'm totally respectful with their interests but I'm also like the little sister and they worry about me wayyy too much. I hope that makes sense! Yeah its funny how people view things. I had luch today with two business associates and a vendor. One of the associates took upon himself to lecture me on how stupid it is to jump from planes. How it was selfish to put my life at risk when i have two daughters counting on me (16 and 19). So as i pointed out to him if he believed that philosophy he would take that cigarete out of his mouth right now and quit smoking 2 packs a day, loose the 75 pounds that would get him to 200 (he's only 5'4"), eat healthier and stop having scotch everyday for lunch and dinner. I hate to have to be the one to break this to you, but you really need to get over the concept that skydiving somehow makes you macho or tough or manly or whatever the hell it is that makes you think YOU are somehow not the "pansy" your friends are just because you skydive and they don't. Skydiving is a broad spectrum sport. People of all types take part in it. About the only real separation is that skydivers tend to have a bit more disposable income than the "average" person but even that doesn't mean much. yes I understand it, and no you're not the first one to say it. I'm surprised that they are simply afraid to try it and not even give it a chance that's all. Use the force to get past this young skywalker, Use the force. Thats assuming shes a skydiver. I think it would be cool to take a date to do a tandem. However, I could just be at the wrong dropzone, but I'd be afraid of somebody trying to snake my girl. First off, why feel rejected. She didn't reject You. She doesn't know You. She rejected appearances. No different than "no thanks" to a dance at a club. However, in the future, chat. Make casual non-date conversation. Let her know that you are a fun person and had fun this weekend. So... attractive women have attractive women friends. Don't ask her out again. Become pals with her and date her friends. Instead of one woman, you get to date 5 women. Get over it. Go have fun. haha.
