  1. Go to Home Depot and get water pipe heating strip. Self stick 4' strip sells for $9.97. Tape it around the outside of the dish, plug it in, no more snow. My parents have had this setup for 5 years in Wisconsin with no problems.
  2. Lived in Vegas for 10 years... Yes, they close the strip about 4pm on NYE from Sahara to Tropicana. You'll have to walk or take the monorail to go up and down the strip. 1-2 hours to get your car/taxi and get back to the hotel. Last year there were about 200K people in Vegas for New Years. Be prepared for a shock for hotel rooms. They usually require a 3 night minimum and are 3-5X the usual weekend rate. Most of the casinos have some sort of fireworks show shot from the rooftops. Clubs are going to charge anywhere from $250-$1000 per person to get in.
  3. Had to turn the AC on today, 79 outside right now...
  4. The main down fall for Blu-Ray is the stance they will not let the Porn industry release any movies on the format, and HD-DVD doesn't have an issue with Porn. This is the same Sony downfall as beta-vhs, Sony did the same thing in the 70's and they lost out. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070112-8602.html http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2704,2085645,00.asp
  5. It is the 790 waterproof too? Yes, my daughter got an orange one a few weeks ago, dropped it several times and has taken it in the ocean snorkeling without a problem.
  6. Olympus 720 or the new 790!
  7. Colored zip ties... We use them all the time when traveling. Per DHS (ie TSA) if they cut the ties they have to put new ties on your bags. The bright yellow and orange seem to deter openings, in the past 2 years they have yet to be cut in 25 international flights except for customs inspections.
  8. Most public water is between 1.25-2.0ppm. Federal standard is 12ppm due to toddlers in diapers...
  9. Welcome to LA... (lower Alabama) We just moved here from Vegas in July, it's a culture shock!
  10. Public drinking water is ~4 ppm, swimming pools from ~4-8 ppm.
  11. Here is my contribution... Wife did her first tandem 2 weeks ago.
  12. www.slysoft.com USe anyDVD and CloneDVD mobile both are free for 21 days, then you have to buy, but well worth the $$.
  13. Ohhh, that's why we have a raised floor in the data center...
  14. The spa at JW was rated one of the top ten in the world when the Resort at Summerlin (previous owners) opened in 1999. Also, Red Rock Stations's spa is right down the street (more of a younger crowd & staff) from the JW also and it is great. We lived 1 mile from both, and my wife visited most of the spas in Vegas, strip spas almost always 50% more in$$ than the off strip properties.
