Wassup guys, finally got my A- license last weekend, still have to send it in and get the actual card.. got water training on Nov 20th, so I'm waiting till then to send it all in at once.. A long way from my first tandem 3 years ago and still a long way to go! So maybe i'll see some of you around, always open to learn so if i see you out at a DZ my ears are always open. I read somewhere that the more skydives you do the less you actually have to breathe. This is because a skydiver's skin becomes porous from all the wind beatings and takes oxygen in through osmosis. So just keep jumping and you'll be fine! Yes, I never thought I would want an audible, but this incident made me rethink that stance. I think a new altimeter, an audible and keeping my eyes 'in training' is definitely the way to go. The alti I was using was one of the rentals at the the DZ, so this winter (Ohio) thats the first two things I will be getting, new main alti and an audible. My eyes are staying put so that device will be around for a while.

We already had a good amount of separation happening, that would mean me working back down to get to him. .. Had my very trusty altimeter go out for the first time ever.. On the way up, checked it periodically, perfectly fine. Just like any other jump..., however after exit, halfway into our free fall of a 3 way belly, I noticed that I was consistently at 8 thousand feet. Checked my alti moments later and was still at 8k. Realized very quickly that my altimeter was malfunctioning. Tracked to the outermost position that I could get to while still seeing my dive group, and pulled at the appropriate time. As a relative newb to skydiving (50 jump wonder), the posts that iterate TRUST YOUR EYES!!!.. are not to be taken for granted. An altimeter being a man made device WILL NOT ever do as good as a job as the two orbs that sit between your head.. The alti I used is an alti master II full analog. Trust your your instincts not your gear. Great Ohio drop zone, with amazing scenery from altitude. Has multiple aircraft to choose from most days. Two 182's, 206, and a Caravan. 206 and Caravan is available whenever Team Fasttrax isn't using it, which is most weekends and sometimes during the week. Just check their website or call for availability. That caravan is an AWESOME ride up. Staff is proficient in many different disciplines so even if you are experienced it is a great place to get more experience. If you are new to the sport its a great place to take your first steps. The only thing that prevented me from jumping more loads is my own packing speed.

I with you on the past 2k mark. Never get door anxiety except once.. dz brought in a 206 for the weekend and it had no door period. And each load with tandems I was first out so sat right next to the pilot. dude hang in there.. you gave me some of the best openings i've had yet, AND advice on my packing technique for that matter. you can pack my rig any day and actually this sunday i was looking around for you just cuz i know you can get the job done and we were pressed for a sunset load that i know if i was to pack my own rig would have made my group not make the load... This will be the inaugural event for jump for diabetes! Featuring 4 live bands, motorcycle stunt show by the Starboyz, and of course SKYDIVING! Richard Simenc and Canton Air Sports Hosting the inaugural jump for diabetes!! All proceeds from this yearly event will benefit the american diabetes association Our goal is to raise $20,000 for the ada as well as promote awareness and find a cure! In 2009 on August 15th and 16th, this will be located at Canton Airsports at: 14008 Union Ave NE Alliance, Ohio 44601 We will be having: Bands DJ's Raffles Silent Auction Trivia Challenge with prizes Chinese Auction Special Prizes Giveaways and goodie bags! Every three hours we will be giving a free plane ride and/or skydive!!! We hope to have vendors out showcasing skydiving equipment, all day there will be skydiving demonstrations as well as volleyball, corn-hole, camping, bands, dj's, and a wide assortment of live entertainment. I think one thing to take into consideration may be the difference between AGL and MSL. At my DZ here in ohio we have a caravan and get to about 13,5k on nice days but it is really 14,5k cuz the DZ is ~1000 ft above actual sea level.
