  1. I did just get off the phone with "Energizer" and they swear up and down and have sent me a "statement" saying that the 2 batteries are identical and interchangeable. With that being said, I would also like to be enlightened on the manufacturers stance on the usage of the batteries. If the manufacturer of the batteries says that they are one in the same what is the liability issue if the CR123 is used instead of the CR123A?
  2. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.
  3. So are you saying that the posters above you are wrong? Are you saying that you must only use CR123A batteries? Did you get your information from somewhere besides the manual?
  4. I read tha manual, Hence my question.
  5. I tried to do a search but cna't find what I'm looking for. Does anyone know if you can use regular old CR123 batteries or do they have to be CR123A. I have a customer that bought the wrong batteries and was just curious. Thanks.
  6. This might be silly but how do I use stream clip. I downloaded it, opened it, pluggeed in the camera and I can't seem to get it to really do anything? what am I doing wrong?
  7. That's it. Must be HD to work. Is there a way to convert the video I shot or so I can edit in FCE4 or should I just do it in imovie? thanks
  8. Yes, intel based macbook. I have been shooting in SD mode for tandem videos. Do I have to shoot in HD to get it to work in FCE??
  9. When I do that I get this warning "BDMV" contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media. When I open the "stream" and "playlist" folders just by themselves there is nothing there. When I check the camera all the clips/files on the camera they are all there. Am i missing some settings or steps somewhere?
  10. After many fruitless searches I am asking for help. I have a cx100 and a mac with FCE. I plug everything in and click on Log and Transfer and the screen comes up but how do I get my footage into the log and transfer screen? I am also having trouble with importing clips from imovie into fce. Any help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.thanks
  11. Doesm't mean that we can't talk about some more.
  12. We like to keep things as simple as possible for tandem students. undoing a seatbelt is WAY easier to undo then 4 strap on a tandem harness. Not to mention that if the plane had crashed, how do you get at all the friction adapters with people laying on top of you.
  13. Agreed. And you don't even need to get them all hooked up and tightened down. At worst, do the top snaps really quick wrap up their legs with your and go. I think it's bad practice to attach a passenger before you can safely exit the airplane
  14. The "real" question is at what altitude would you get out of the plane if it was going down? Minimum exit altitude for tandems, on a reserve, is 2500 feet agl. In 182's and 206's I keep the seatbelt on until 2000' feet and then I'll hook up the lowers, loosely. If the pilot says get out, I cna just get the top snaps real quick, if there's time tighten up the lowers and get out. In turbines i wait until 1500' and then loose with lowers. For taxi, takeoff and landing in all planes I put a seatbelt on the student and show them where it is and how to use it.
  15. I'm making the switch. I got a mac with imovie and final cut 4 . I got a cx100 camera. I have a decent working knowledge of FC4. What is the easiest way to edit my tandem videos in the shortest amount of time. Can anyone post an example of the tandem video product that they are putting out? Are you using a lot of stock footage or are you shooting each video individually? About how long is it taking people to edit a tandme video from plugging in the camera to handing the person a DVD? I have done searches but I'm looking for more answers. Thanks for all your help.
  16. Is anyone out there using their cx100 with final cut or imovie? How do I get it to work???? please help. I've done searches and I haven't been able to find a good answer to my question. thanks
  17. Hey riggers. What do you charge for cypress servicing??? Let's say one of your customers cypress's needs a 4 or 8 year and you take it out of the rig and and send it in for them and put it back in when it comes back. The bill for the service comes and when you give it to the customer do you add anything extra for doing all the work? Does your loft have a flat rate for cypress servicing??? Just trying to get an idea of what others are doing. thanks
  18. Just so I understand......You can press record just before climbout and it will take video and a still photo every "x" amount of seconds. Can you save them seperately? Like vid to internal memory and maybe the stills to a mem stick? The picture quality doesn't seem too awful. it's def not DSLR quality but I think it would be acceptable if that's what you had.
  19. Is anypne using the cx100 for doing tandem videos??? If so,..... Are you using a seperate still camera or is the quality good enough to take frame grabs from the video after??? What software are you using for editing? Thanks for any and all your help.
  20. if you pull the closing loop straight up then the top of the loop should be somewhere in the middle of the the square of stitching that holds that little piece of velcro in place.
  21. We did a lady with no arm and no legs.........or not much of anything to call arms and legs.......stumps reallly. Kind of like jumping a sack of potatoes. She loved it.
  22. To the best of my knowledge and others.....Similar to the vigil when the cypress senses that you are climbing it goes into "working mode". I have seen them on in the hangar and turn off before we get on the plane, but never had one turn off on the ride to altitude knowing that it was turned on the evening before. I could be wrong, but I think that it works similarly to the vigil.
  23. Back before the manufacturers decided to try and milk every penny they could from skydivers lot's of people made their own soft links.....removable and not removable, and before that some were tying their parachutes onto the risers. If you know what you are doing you cold go into any loft and whip up a set of soft links for WAY less than 30 bucks. It may take a little longer than it would to walk into the gear store and buy them, and time doesn't always cost that much. I'm not saying that eeryone should run out and start making their own...it's just that easy.....And 30 buck is a skydive, a pack job and beer.
  24. fyi....I know 2 people that this same thing happened to, NON-RSL side thankfully. In the end, all was ok.
  25. Once upon a time, collins lanyards were mostly only found on tandems and I would be willing to bet that the majority of the rigs in use today aren't equipped with one. Until EVERY rig in use today is equipped with a collins lanyard, this is very good question.........tough to answer...... I would have to say that the only thing to do is hope that you recognize what is happening, fast enough to cutaway quick enough before you start spinning violently while a reserve is trying to deploy. I think the best thing is to take care of your gear. Routinely inspect your risers for wear. Don't tie your 3-rings together and put a weight on top of your risers when you pack. Take care of your gear! Don't wait 6 months for a rigger to "maybe" inspect your main risers when the pack you reserve. TAKE CARE OF YOU OWN GEAR!!!! and you will probably never have to worry about this situation.
