Thanks for getting back on track, man. I never thought about that. Any ideas on who we can talk to about that? If anyone has any ideas for some solutions that would much appreciated. We aren't jst gonna sit here and take it.

It seems tome that Clinton was just a little more concerned about what was going on right here in our own country. He wasn't sending truckloads of people all over the place "liberating" countries and trying to save the world from all these weapons of mass desrtuction that no can seem to find. If you want to make the world a better place then you need to start at home. It's like going down to the neighbor's down the street and demanding to search their house b/c somebody said that they were stock piling chocolate cake. No body knows for sure if they are or not. It's just a rumor. Please someone enlighten me as to what GWB has done that has been good for this country. I think if he wants to stay in office it is going to take a lot more than a lot of money this time

Just to clarify something quick, we can fly to our heart's content when the president is in town, we just can't jump. Does this make sense to anyone? What do they think they are protecting by allowing planes to go up but not jumpers out? I don't know many people who could make the 30 mile trip under canopy over to Kennebunk.

Yup. That's entirely possible, but not the point. Remember last year? We had a good time, and I'm sure that we will have fun again. The deal is that this is happening again and again. I see a trend starting and if it is 2 times this year, then how many times will it be next year. What if he wants to take a 2 week vacation? Plum Island isn't open yet and BP has a staff, but then where do our fun jumpers go? (Fun jumping is not allowed in RI.) It's just a big pain in the balls. Thanks George! Do you work??????? What if you had an assload of work to do and someone came along and said that you cannot under any circumstances, work, and by the way, if you don't work, you don't get paid. Fuck this employment at will shit. It is not a mandatory thing. If it was there would be a whole lot less people begging for nickles and dimes on the streets. This isn't about whether I choose to work or not, this is about our mighty leader. Our Commander in Chief, our Captain of this ship of fools (this is not specifically about Bush) This is about the people. Aren't we the ones that the "chief" is supposed to be watching out for???? Didn't we (not me) elect this clown b/c we thought he would do the best for "the people"????? OOPS. I forgot it isn't "the people" that really elect the president. I think we are totally off the point. I'm still trying. This isn't just for my DZ right now. No body has spoken up and said whether or not this has happened to anyone else in the past, but I'm hoping to at least get somewhere. F-U to all the people that think that everything that the gov't does is right and in the best interest of the people. I think that when my right/freedom as an individual to earn an honest living, regardless of my occupation, is taken away on what will have been 3 diffrent occasions for at least 5 days at a time, due to a "pleasure" trip, then I think someone needs to say something. Maybe I'm talking to the wrong crowd. Maybe not enough people here make their total income from skydiving. I do what I do b/c I love to do it. I understand that sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate and that is a risk that I take. But to be told that I can't jump for a whole week at my DZ, where I live, b/c some guy (this pres or any other pres) wants to fish a few times a year absolutely blows me away. How many more times is this going to happen? How about the charter boat companies and fisherman that are based out of walker's point? They are getting hosed as well.

Does any have information on other DZ's that have been shut down due to the pres coming to town. in the past? Clinton? Reagan? The other Bush? Ford? I worked for the airlines. I know all about the hassles with national. There are obvious risks involved with a large international airport next to the nations capital. We are not trying to be secretive about it. We will tell them when we are flying and where we are flying to and what is going on. If we start flying at his house then by all means, shoot us down. Between ATC, the AWACS and all the other people watching us, they should be able to keep track of a twin otter flying around in a circle.

Implementation is the key. We pay these people way more than they are worth. And it seems that they just want to take the easy road to all solutions. They are supposedly smart and intelligent. It might take a bit of work, but if they put their heads together they could make it good for everybody. If GWB is going to continue to vacation than they need to come up with a solution that doesn't affect people so often so harshly

It's only a no win situation if we don't try.

Let's not get into the victims of 9/11. I was directly affected by the events of 9/11. I lost a family member as well as friends. Eventually the gov't needs to stop the paranoya and think. I guess it doesn't really matter to them b/c we really aren't the people that elect them, are we. What if it was your DZ that got shut down for 4 days again and again. What if you couldn't work on a busy weekend. You just lost out on 30 or 40 jumps. Do you mean to tell me that the people here just lay down and let whatever is going to happen, happen?

What bout waivers???? If they are aware that a twin otter will be climbing around in a circle staying within an area so designated by whoever, making the appropriate radio calls and squawking whatever code we are assigned for the day, what threat are we posing? We are just trying to make a living. Am I the only one that thinks that there has got to be a solution??? I can totally understand if there was a big meetin of world leaders going on, but it's not. This guy that somebody decided should be president wants to put his feet up and do some fishing. Maybe he should come out here and jump.

If it was just me not being able to jump I probably would. But we have students, and tandems. This is what makes the dropzone money, as much as that is. It pays for manifest to stay open and answer phones so that we can get more students so that we can make money. This means either moving our entire student operation and or rescheduling. rescheduling groups of people isn't always the easiest thing to do especially toward the end of summer when people are all getting ready to go back to school. Damn right I'm bitching about this stuff, but I'm also looking for help in finding a solution.

How often does this happen to them? I just think that it is bullshit. With Radar and radios nad all kinds of other stuff they have to watch all the air traffic how can they be afraid of an airplane that flies around in circles all day? What is it that they fear? How much further will it go?????

Has this happened to anybody else? I work at Skydive New England. We are located 20.5 nautical miles from Kennebunkport. As everyone probably knows, President Bush has a "residence" there. Everytime he decides to take a vacation to go fishing or whatever it is that he does there, they (secret service/FAA) impose a 30 mile no fly zone radius around kennebunkport, and we get completely shut down. No flying, and especially no jumping. This happened last year in August and he didn't even show up and we were never notified that he wasn't coming. One weekend (4 days) of no work. Again, this year, Bush wants to spend father's day with dear old dad and we get shut down thursday to monday. Now we are being told that he is coming for a weeks vacation in August. In case y'all don't know we only have 6 months of jumping here and with all the rain and bad weather we have had so far we need everyday that we can get. So far this year, our idiot in charge will be single handedly responsible for almost 2 weeks of lost revenue for a company that only get's to operate, maybe, 6months. Has any other dropzone's ever been affected by anything like this????????? Does anyone have any ideas about something that we could do to help remedy this problem? are we going to have to drop everything that we are doing whenever the head moron wants to go on vacationfor the next year and a half and maybe the next 4 years after that. We are not the only people affected by this. Fishing operations that operate from kennebunk have to go far away and a lot of flight schools around here have to jump through hoops just to do student flying. They don't even give us any notice as to the exact time that he is coming so that we can have adequate time to reschedule tandems and students. Any help that anyone out there can offer will be much appreciated and hopefully we can keep this from affecting other DZ's in the future. Thanks

This place is the best kept secret in skydiving. Best vibes on the planet. Nowhere else I have been quite compares to the friendly atmosphere and "good times" that you get at this place. Swoop pond, paintball fields, raging bands by the raging fires. Great mix of flat flying and freeflying and everybody gets along. NO SKYGODS!!! Great place to learn and jump. If you can't have a good time here...then you probably can't have a good time anywhee else.
