  1. Hi All, Just curious about all the different planes that people jump out of. The dz that I have been going to has a twin otter, so thats pretty much the only thing I know. I hear other terms like king air, 182, caravan, etc, and Im curious to know the specs for each plane (which can get to altitude quickest, max speed, etc.). I can find the specs once I know the names of the different planes... :) Anyone have a list of all planes that are skydiver friendly?
  2. anyone know if this watch can/has been used for skydiving? http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=6000124&subcategory=60001135&brand=&sku=17800&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=Shop%20by%20Subcat%3A%20Watches its only 40 bucks so i was just curious... i dont think i would be comfortable using this as my main altimeter, but if it works good, i could find some use for it (maybe)
  3. Yeah, they can be wrong at times. I ran for 2 years with mine until I got tired of wearing it. For the most part...its really accurate though. As far as the beginning goes, its recommended to wet the monitor and your chest with water before putting it on. This makes it transmit to pulse more accurately.
  4. All of this seems a bit unrealistic. I like the study though. Its kinda funny... These reading are probably false readings. At young ages (early 20's) the maximum heart rate should probably not exceed 200 bpm. Older ages (50's and 60's) the maximum hear rate should probably not exceed 150 bpm. Buy a quality hart rate that wraps around your chest and you will get more accurate readings... http://www.timex.com/gp/product/B000P8HB1I/sr=1-4/qid=1191952894/ref=sr_1_4/102-1500886-0815365?ie=UTF8&m=A1S5XB33AHYRMX&n=238521011&timexBrand=core

  6. i started a thread a few weeks ago on a topic similar to this one. some good ideas here... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2906341;search_string=slogan;#2906341
  7. i think a better choice of words for you sig would be: "Why drink and drive, when you can get high and fly" how about this one for a t-shirt... front: (name of your dropzone) back: "were all here because were not all there"
  8. anyone see any funny/clever skydiving slogans? it seems like i keep running into the same ones...but dont think they are very funny. lets hear them...
  9. haha... i woke up in the middle of the night last night prancing around the bathroom naked with my rig on. first time i have ever caught myself sleep walking/prancing. im just a nakedfool
  10. the place i go to charges 25 for a single jump or 50 for the whole day....the last pack is included in the $50.
  11. Ok, I only have about 23 jumps under my belt. I started my AFF class back in early June. Im doing very well and almost have all my own gear. I have a problem though... I cant stop thinking about skydiving. i mean...all i think about all day and night....is jumping. i wear my rig around the house when im bored and constantly view this site to see what new stuff is for sale in the classified section. i also read the forums. for the guys that have ridiculous amounts of jumps...when does it stop? have i entered a new realm? who has ~1000 jumps and still does this? i have been addicted to a lot of sports/hobbies, but nothing like this. i think its starting to affect my job and stuff...
  12. Damn...crazy video. It gives me chills to see people chop. It would be cool to cut the music to hear your buddy yelll...."Chop it!!".
  13. i dont understand this. you look in the classified section and there are so many ad's that lack sufficient information to let interested buyers know if its suitable for them or not. for instance...there are so many ads in the container's section that say: "nice rig for sale. complete with all bells and whistles" (dramatized example). And THATS IT! how the hell are people supposed to get interested in this? from what i understand, its VERY important to know the harness size, container size, DOM, condition, colors and even see a picture in order to make a determination on whether or not a person wants to buy the rig or not.....now, I catch myself spending all day asking the same questions because these sellers dont provide the information to begin with... its super frustrating for new buyers... am I missing something???
  14. There are MANY things that I find great about Skydive San Marcos, but I will just list a few: - Excellent staff. Perry, Voodew, Juju, Hank, Jeff, JL, girls at manifest (and more) are all really cool and helpful. They want to make sure you understand EVERYTHING at the end of the day. Wendy in blue skies cafe seems to be very nice. She makes excellent lunchs/dinners and is super nice when dealing with people. Girls in Manifest are pretty funny. They handle everyone very well. - Instructors are soooo helpful. You ask a ten second question and you can get an hour explanation. They are very concerned about everyone safety. I feel lucky to have found Skydive San Marcos at the beginning of my skydiving career.
  15. Just wondering if anyone knows the guys that are in that Remax Commercial that has been airing lately. Im new to this sport and am trying to find out how tight the world of skydiving really is. -nf

  17. whats a good site to see the upcoming forecast? I live in Central Texas. I know there are a couple of good sites that display cool looking dopplers and all that. Anyone have any URLs? A friend sent me to this site, but I think geared for OK people... http://weather.ou.edu/~mjames/wx/ -nf
  18. hi everyone. cool community you guys have here. I just completed my AFF lvl 7 Jumps and am pretty pumped about this new sport. I have decided that this is a great resource I can use to learn from all your experiences...some sections are painful to view, but are absolutely necessary for understanding emergency procedures and those unfortunate scenarios that some of you get into to. ill be sure and read all the sticky's and search before asking questions. If interested, you can check out this little video i put together of my lvl 6 and 7 jumps. the music happened to fit perfectly... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7626521069736867843&hl=en see ya... nf //edited to make url clicky
