  5. Ok, here's what you need to do. 1. Go buy Phil Hellmuth's hold'em book and read it. 2. Find a nice 1-2 no limit game in Vegas. 3. Put on a hoodie, dark shades and bring your ipod 4. Tell me when and where you'll be playing. j/k have fun >< Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

  7. *shakes head* this is like...hmm...thinking of a proper analogy... oh yes. This is like Me arguing with William Randolph Hearst about how to run a newspaper empire. Or Me arguing with Shakespeare about how to write a play. Or me arguing with quade about how a screenplay/film is structured. why? because all three of those feature me, an uneducated hack on each of those subjects, arguing with someone who has loads more experience and/or education in said subjects. That being said, I *think* quade's point was that many things that people mistake for "story line" are actually structural elements of the film/screenplay. But I could be wrong (see previous analogy ) Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  8. oh, and I forgot, i will be looking for tables where people actually use these terms in conversation, because it just screams: HERE SITS A BIG FISH! EAT ME! Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  9. this I'm going at the end of the month and I certainly hope to see them a few times each. at least. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  10. actually, we have a couple small wineries up here. I am ashamed to say I haven't tasted any of it, though it's on my list of things to do. Apples are more up Julian way, but There are definitely orchards out near SD Country Estates, too. It's an affordable, small town lifestyle near enough to San Diego...pretty much anything down in town is 30-45 minutes away. The only downside is traffic in and out during rush hour, as there are only two roads, both 2-lane twisties. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  11. haha, yeah, i knew there used to be a DZ out here. sure would save me some driving! And trust me, I have ridden down wildcat canyon many times. It's nice because 78 up to Julian is so crowded now you can't get much above 20 mph on the turns anymore. Plus we stop in and eat at Barona, which has some great food! 12. Finishing off a growler of Black Lightning Porter from Lightning Brewery here in SD. If that doesn't warm me up, I'll move on to some Stone Double Bastard Ale. I should probably not live in San Diego...so many good beers, so little time. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  13. my hubby just sent me this info too...We do live in Ramona, in the mountains, near the burned areas of the Witch Fire in '07. While I suspect that was long enough ago to stave off a lot of the problems we might see in Ventura, etc, I suspect CA 78 (one of the two possible routes from Ramona down into San Diego) might see some mudslides/road closures if it does rain this much. Hopefully i won't be homebound! Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

    XP Pro / W7?

I was a die-hard XP user. refused to get vista for all its issues. I recently built a new PC, and decided to try 7. It has been working like a charm for me, with no issues. The learning curve is slight, and it seems to be an efficient OS that doesn't have all the vista issues. I say give 7 a shot, to be honest. 15. Do you have a car? If you have a car, I'd say head up to Stone Brewing in Escondido. nice food, and AMAZING beer. I can't repeat that enough. AMAZING. Did you know that San Diego county is home to over 30 craft breweries? This is a beer town, and one of the best in the country. I say Stone because it has a restaurant and it's open on sundays, but if you have time, go on a "beer tour". Most of the breweries offer tasters for cheap (some free!). And it works like a winery, you taste the beers in "order", usually from light and hoppy to dark and sweet. AleSmith, Port/Lost Abbey, Green Flash, and Stone are some of the big ones. This is my new favorite thing to do with folks who visit from out of town (especially if they've already done the zoo/seaworld/wild animal park thing). Anyway, just a suggestion if you are a lover of fine beers like I am Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  16. Have to agree with everything Jan said. also: I think this is one of the biggest fallacies out there. tunnel time helps you learn how to FLY YOUR BODY. it doesn't matter what type of skydiving you do, learning how changes in your body position affects the airflow and thus how you fly is INVALUABLE to any discipline. As for breakoff...I'd say being able to do a center point turn IN PLACE without sinking 50 feet as you go is a great skill to have. Something that is easily taught in the tunnel. I'm not trying to do an ad for the tunnel here, but to answer the OP's question, I would HIGHLY recommend the airspeed camps. They are worth it, no matter WHAT you want to do later on in skydiving. And after that, start hitting the bigway camps at Perris or wherever (i think Kate plans on doing some in Europe this year, too). As a product of both, I can say hands down they are the best money i've spent in skydiving. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  17. the cadence was intentional, actually...sort of a parallelism thing going on. well, semi-intentional. Like I said, i jotted this down in about 10 minutes, with really no editing. as for prose poetry, sometimes the things you want to say just fit better as a poem. To me, poems seem to imitate thoughts better than just writing out a paragraph of prose. Not to mention, they stand alone rather than needing pages of buildup. 18. yah, unfortunately, i think the 500 is the smallest you'll find in the states. Which is sad, because 400s and 250s are fun. This was my first bike: Honda CB-1. 400cc naked sportbike...really ahead of its time style-wise, and a fun little bike. I swear, i miss that baby. My hubby used it his first season of racing, then passed it to me when he moved on to 250 gp bikes. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  19. this! S version for the "sportbike" feel, the non-faired version if you want a more upright seating position. Also, about the supermotards...yes, they are awesome, but if you're short like me, it isn't a starter bike. hell, it's a "never" bike because i'll never grow longer legs to reach the ground. This makes me sad, but i'm consoled by the fact that most of the sportbike manufacturers have lowered the seat heights to where I can ride them all straight off the lot, rather than having to worry about a lowering kit. I remember when I first started, i couldn't even comfortably 1-foot something like a GSXR600 and now i can tiptoe both feet on a GSXR1000 no less. 20. you know, I don't agree with marc about 99% of the time on here, but there's really no need to post stuff like this when he freely admitted that some of these arguments have actually helped him see the case for the other side. It's more than most of the "right wingnuts" on here would do, yes, but I have to give marc props for his courage in admitting that there might be more to the story than his previously-held beliefs might have allowed. 21. I think you should read this. http://www.newsweek.com/id/229957/page/1 It is an article written by Theodore Olsen, a leading conservative attorney and avowed Republican. It's a good read. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  22. How'd i miss this! I love poetry, it's so unappreciated nowadays. Anyway, jotted this down last night. No title because i suck at that: I saw your twin today reading a newspaper and drinking a latte oblivious of my regard. I was at the bookstore killing the day reading a bad novel. I had no intention of buying it. Just sitting there reading, I wasn't thinking of you for once. But there, there you were. Checking the sports scores. Your eyes, blue and clear. Your nose, perfect. Your mouth, quirked in the smile That was yours alone. I knew it wasn't you, just a twin, But for a moment, Just a moment, I allowed myself to daydream. To see you looking at me. Your eyes, looking into mine. Your nose touching mine as we kiss. Your mouth, quirked in the smile That was for me alone. I saw your twin today and it made me miss you all over again, And I had to look twice Just to be sure. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  23. I'm ashamed to admit I've tried the McRib. Don't try it. It's way too awesome and you'll get hooked. seriously. i'm not lying. Anywho...Any of the Angus/Sirloin/Steak burgers the fast food places have now. Sorry, if I want steak, i'm going to get steak, not fake steak on a bun from McDonalds. ugh. Won't even consider ordering that stuff (not to mention it's way overpriced) Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  24. HAHA! SEE! that's TWO votes for chipirones en su tinta! i posted a recipe up further, y'all gotta try it, seriously. amazing. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  25. the good memorable foods always have some kind of emotional meaning, as well. For me, the tastes of home: Graeter's ice cream and Skyline chili, will always hold a special, memorable place in my heart. As will the amazing green chile of New Mexico, my other home. More specifically, after I graduated from college, i had 60 days of paid leave. Most people found their friends and went on drinking binges around Europe, but I had seen most of it, except for the one place I truly cared about. I minored in Spanish in college, so I made a beeline for Spain and spent 3 and a half of the most memorable weeks of my life there, ESPECIALLY the Basque Country up north. Basque food is....spectacular doesn't do it. Creative. Delicious. Intense. I found this little family place in San Sebastian that offered (like most places in Spain) a Prix Fixe menu of a bottle of txacoli (a dry basque semi-sparkling white wine...awesome), a pintxo (thats what they call tapas in basque), a main course, and dessert for about 800 pesetas (this was pre-Euro, and Spain was a STEAL). The main course choices were a basque paella and something called "Chipirones en su tinta". I decided to be adventurous, and when the time came, they brought me a bowl of black ink. Not kidding, this was PITCH BLACK soup. Uhh....ok. Turns out it was baby squid in a sauce made from it's own ink. Sounds gross, but let me tell you, that squid was so tender it literally fell off my fork and melted in my mouth, and the sauce was just this perfect amalgamation of flavors... A perfect culinary illustration of the old adage: never judge a book by its cover! some links about parts of this meal, since most people don't know about Basque awesomeness unless you've been there or happen to live in Boise, ID: http://articles.sfgate.com/2009-08-16/food/17175995_1_wine-basque-bottle http://gospain.about.com/od/basquecountrypaisvasco/qt/pintxos.htm http://recipespicbypic.blogspot.com/2008/09/chipirones-en-su-tinta-squid-in-its-ink.html Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
