thats a shame, any reviews in particular you are referring to?

Nice! 4 of these could easily be put on a handcam mount, seems camera refunds should be a thing of the past.

Sony ActionCam AS200V and 4K ActionCam FDR-X1000V announced
Greig474 replied to darklow's topic in Photography and Video
can anyone that has experience with the sony action cams give any info on their reliability? I use gopros but have still not upgraded from the gopro 2 because i have seen and experienced too many malfunctions with the cameras gopro released after the 2. Crystal clear footage is nice, but cameras that always get the footage are more valuable to me. -

thanks for the info guys

did u ever get your answer? i'm curious too

on heading, comfortable, no twists or other potential mals, stays flying straight if in line twists i guess

yup, i know theres no best, its subjective and theres loads of other variables etc. Just interested to know what comes most recommended for openings by the most people. Almost all the canopies i heard were good for wing suiting (listed what i could think of above) are canopies I haven't jumped. Also if anyone can point out which canopies are better or worse for making it back from long spots i would be grateful. Thanks everyone

thanks for the info. After reading that and finding this video last night (1:44 saying "floating" laterals are great for swooping) I'm at the conclusion now that their negative impact on harness turning (if any) isn't worth my worry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyqAUW1I5qA

do all you factory pilots have them?
-
which world champs are using them?
-
Bump just curious if people still feel this way: "With tiny rigs, the cut-in laterals acually hinder your ability to harness steer your canopy" i am thinking of ordering a new rig and it seems some manufacturers don't even offer standard laterals any more

Instructor Helmets - what are you using and why?
Greig474 replied to DougH's topic in Tandem Skydiving
"If you wear a Pro-Tec, stuff an audible in one ear, then cut out the cross-bars on the other ear." word of warning if you do try this, i had a helmet like this and during one jump my helmet moved slightly and the top of my ear was sticking out the hole just slightly, i then had riser slap on opening, it skimmed my ear while the helmet prevented the ear from moving forwards, felt like my ear was getting sliced! i think just cutting the lower cross bar would be enough room to take the earplug in and out, without risking this situation. -
Hooking up for take off. Good idea? Bad idea?
Greig474 replied to rustywardlow's topic in Tandem Skydiving
we were on the ground for 20 minutes at the plane on a weather hold 2 days ago. As i had just been reading this thread the night before i decided to see if my customer could undo the side connectors when we were hooked up sitting in the plane. I showed him how they unhook then i connected him to me at side connectors only while we were sitting in the plane. He took well over a minute to get free, and that was in an airplane that was not on fire, no distractions etc. Maybe he was an exception but i doubt it. -

also if tandems are going to different heights than other jumpers (e.g tandem to 14000, solo jumper to 4000) its best to be fully hooked up and ready to jump (as far as i can think) in case lower exiting jumper has premature in door and gets hooked up on tail etc. If i'm missing something please enlighten me. -
Hooking up for take off. Good idea? Bad idea?
Greig474 replied to rustywardlow's topic in Tandem Skydiving
from reading all the previous post my feelin is that it is best for the TM and student to each have their own seat belts and not be connected up to each other at all, then when the plane reaches a safe exit altitude, the seatbelts should be undone and student should be fully connected to TM (incase of emergency), or at least connected at hips with laterals tight (Top hooks are easy to hook on in a second, having laterals hooked up and tightened takes longer). I have however heard that British Parachute Association rules say you must be fully attached (as if ready to jump) from take off and also be wearing seatbelts. i could be wrong. As for students unhooking themselves from TM, i have little faith the average student can do this quickly -
does anyone know if you can still shoot video at full quality at 170degree angle? They have made the lens flatter so i was thinking this may no longer be possible, i can't find any info on this online. I would be using this for handycam as many others will so a 170 degree lens would be important. Thanks for any replies

uh oh, first photo that comes up now when you type "skydive" on google, i didn't think this would affect tandem numbers that badly at first, now i'm not so sure
-
i give up, i'm off to sleep
-
god dammit, they just said 3pm

cheers, where did u get this info? i'm trying to decide if i should go to sleep or not, had sky news playing for a while and haven't seen any mention of it yet

container options that hinder swooping
Greig474 replied to Greig474's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
also i noticed on the upt website on the list for swoop kit options that they list "stow less bag". Is this just because they give cleaner openings which is obviously more important on high performance canopies?
