skydivers voluntarily quitting the sport?
aguila replied to aguila's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi all! Not jumping now because of a full load of work. I am on car racing now but miss skydiving and am planning on doing it again! Nice to hear from you!! Blue skies! -
Yeah!

1- Pack very carefully 2- Check up all your gear 3- Remember how much you are paying for your jump (money, time, effort, etc). Make it pay off 4- Now concentrate on what you are going to do and mentally rehearse it when climbing to altitude 5- Do not over-relax. Be alert! Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet

It is great!

Being objective and based on the picture, it depends on the focal length and film size (or video equivalent) From another point of view both jumpers' experience might also be considered. Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet

Glad to know you landed safely and recovered your gear!

My ex-girlfriend said all skydivers want to die. So says one ex-skydiver. She stopped jumping after: 1-breaking some electric wires when landing and leaving a big nearby town and the airport without electricity; 2- being about to hit a big water tank on final approach; 3- her main did not open at all and her reserve open too low because nothing happened after pulling the silver; and another issue I cannot remember. All that with less than 40 jumps. BTW, I have her on the phone right now, trying to convince me not to jump anymore But most of us want to keep us alive and healthy for the next jump

I also have one with an AA and a camera attached Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet

do you flat pack or pro pack and why ??
aguila replied to gravitywhore's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I agree line-overs are more likely to happen when pro-packing but they can also occur when flat-packing. Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet -

It can also happen when the flaps protecting the risers are not well secured, for instance when the Velcros are worn, and a break line blows in the wind during free fall You said: "Line overs were unheard of before pro packing" edited to add: Our instructors taught us to deal with line-overs when jumping static line, when we did not pro-pack yet Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet -

Line overs can also happen when a brake releases during opening Who told you that? Hey! I cannot sleep and could find it -

Any safety feature can create danger because they add additional technical variables (and human variables like a false sense of safety) to keep in mind, and interact with the environment in ways we cannot always predict. The post "Attempted exit of aircraft with seatbelt still attached " is a good example http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2730538#2730538 Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet

What's in a skydiver's future?
aguila replied to long6oarder's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My dad got mad at me as soon as he knew I had got my license. He hated that. My kids are proud and like to tell their friends and teachers I skydive. My ex(1) recently came with me to the DZ, liked a lot and now she wants to do a TM jump. My ex(2) says I am a suicide and that I should better save that money. My whuffo friends understand it and like to talk about it but do not want to jump. I lost a girlfriend because she did not want me to jump anymore and I kept jumping. I have met a lot of nice people, have many more friends now (two orthopedists - coincidence?). . .and a few more "enemies" (all skydivers but nothing some after jumping cannot solve -

You are welcome! The saline solution works most of the time, If it does not, I would recommend you have your ears examined. In regard to the ear plugs you can remove them slowly after opening (before releasing your breaks) so you will not get any discomfort. Hope it helps!

It does not interfere MD Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet

Pro-pack. Recommended by the manufacturer (PD): more consistent openings, less space needed, faster, easier Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet -
Quote hm, maybe woman should come equipped with a cutaway pillow too?!Quote Most have a sort of AAD: If they do not jump and you keep jumping they will automatically fly away. But if they do jump (tandems do not count) you must treat them as you treat your own brand new rig: with a lot of love, care and respect, let others see them but do not let them touch, keep them covered while not flying them, do not leave them under direct sun, do not leave them alone, untwist immediately any twisted thing, after landing be attentive and do not just relax and leave them laying on the ground, immediately stow their brakes, etc, and mainly keep all their handles protected (remember there are more skydivers around). A final word: Your reserve must be always ready . . . Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
