  1. My helmet has protected my ears from the lines during bad openings, my head during PLFs and RW. It also protects my audible altimeter and goggles and lets me use my cam . . . Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  2. Quotethey were never an issue, but I've seen more than one post here about people getting ready to cut away from these situations (seeming to clear the burble as they move towards doing EPs), and some of these posters didn't even seem aware of the possibility that the PC can get caught in the burble.. a bit worrying? reply] I used a rented chute I loved (ripcord/PC spring loaded ) and ALWAYS had pc hesitation until I packed the PC pointing well down instead of perpendicular to my rig. No more PC hesitation. Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  3. With the risk to be bashed : Are the turns always to the same side no matter where the wind comes from? Does your landing zone have obstacles or areas that might cause some turbulence? Different canopies might react different to turbulence. I just asked ... Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  4. For a given wing load your canopy could be "not too small" but could be unsafe if you surpass its recommended maximum suspended weight limit. Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  5. Just out of curiosity: Could you ask your rigger if there were a/b broken lines? In such a case they distort the leading edge in the way you described, and if you are spinning fast, the sun is high and you are reaching 2500 ft it might be difficult to tell. Anyway, glad you are OK!
  6. I think a PD253R would not be safe for you because its maximum allowed exit weight is 254 lbs ( http://www.performancedesigns.com/reserve.asp ). Your rig will be heavier because you need a bigger reserve, main, etc so you should add 30 or more pounds and your weight could increase ... 7. I found no problem when I started skydiving and my daughter wanted to jump. Fortunately she did not and now I prefer my kids to stay away from the sport. No problem with my ex-mother-in-law Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  8. Thank you Robin! You are right. Sometimes it is easy we assume everything is all right just because our canopies open and fly. My 2 cents: Skydiving requires mental agility and people should not forget their mental rehearsal when they stop jumping so that they do not miss important steps when they return to the sport. 9. Unfortunately, it is real Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  10. You are welcome Wendy! I am sure my friend will always remember to check his canopy after opening. If I get another malfunction picture I will share it. Blue Skies! Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  11. He hopes people will benefit from his experience. That is why I posted the picture Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  12. QuoteAnd how did your friend get a photograph of the damaged canopy, yet not notice it soon enough to chop it?reply] I assume he got distracted and did not paid attention to his canopy Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  13. Yes. It is. Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet

  16. Astigmatism rears its ugly head there, too. I have to wear toric contact lenses to correct it and they're weighted to force a specific orientation on the eyeball, and due to varying body position, they won't stay in the correct orientation skydiving, which leaves me even more blind than without them. I also have Astigmatism and use contact lenses when skydiving. I purchased some cool motorcycle goggles and lost them 5 seconds after starting a head-down. My contact lenses stayed in place all the time. But I have also found my right contact lens skicked to my goggles Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  17. I also asked the same question and while Vigil looks great I went for the Cypres 2. Why (IMHO)? 1- More saved lives 2- Waterproof 3- Simpler: it just does what I want it to do I expect purchasing a Vigil within 10 years or so. It looks great!
  18. I also think this is the best bet. However I know of a real case that happened a few weeks ago: A friend of mine with 40+ jumps opened his DCM 280 at 5K ft. He said everything was fine until 1K when he noticed he was going down too fast. He checked up his canopy and found at least 4 broken inner lines. He decided to land his canopy because had no time to break away but could not control it, had a very hard landing and was about to die. After 4 surgeries he will not be able to skydive for 1 year. 19. Do you promise that PRO packing eliminates off heading openings? Nope! I am sure many people will manage to make them turn . . . Just kidding. You know there are other factors involved Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  20. We have found no winds over 11K feet quite often. So was it yesterday ( 2 times) Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  21. Hi People! I could not read this thread because I went to a boogie. Did I miss any important update in regard to exit order or similar? If so I would appreciate someone sent a summary to me. BTW, we had up to 4 tandems in a row exiting last. Great! We did not find any wind at 12.000 several times. Thanks in advance! Blue skies! 22. Thank you for your patience. Most of you already know how much I waited because the poll suddenly changed. I waited 7 seconds. Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  23. When you make the USPA change their official statment in regard to exit order: http://72.14.209.104/search?q=cache:fKbgg5fOqNIJ:https://www.uspa.org/safety/safetyday/SafetyDayGuidelines2006.pdf+tandem+exit+o ... you tell me Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  24. Maybe if you were flying the tandem Gonzalo It cannot be done really means I do not know how to do it ... yet
  25. I understand you might find it very difficult to use a camera while skydiving. No problem! I have ever seen people who find it very difficult to know what they are talking about. Have you ever considered that not all is about jumps number? You might find it a lot easier if you read the camera owner's manual first. BTW. I was not using any camera during that jump Blue skies!
