Lonnie Bissonnette Interview: What Lies Within Us
jtnesbitt replied to TizzyLishNinja's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
Quite an ironic statement coming from someone who created an anonymous profile just to make that post don't you think? "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero -

Nothing of the sort. What bothered me about this thread was that the first 2 posts (the 2nd post disappeared because the user deleted it immediately after posting) mentioned my name as well as names of my friends that were not involved. I dont appreciate being linked to an incident that I had nothing to do with. This thread has provided a lot of great information as to why you shouldn't use WLO toggles on a skyrig. Just to add another though, it is possible for those toggles to release accidentally as it happened to me once. They weren't APEX, and i wont mention the brand, but they were line release toggles. It all boils down to using the right tool for the right job. This is not skydiving and shouldnt be here. Edit to add: Furthermore since it isnt skydiving related a mod should delete it. If that isnt going to happen then I would like to suggest the LOCALS who posted names in the previous posts remove those names immediately. You guys should both know better. Another Brit, Andy Copland, raised a similar point the other day...know what I told him? Huh? You sure you don't mean Adventure Skydiving Tennessee? No Billy, I said what I meant, According to USPA's website, Skydive East Tennessee is having a coach course, and I was throwing the idea of the second chance to any candidate who may fail the course. See the attachment. If someone ONLY looks at that first wall post then yes, the intent is questionable. However if you read a few posts down, as well as the comments, then you can easily come to a conclusion. Does anyone have any experience with them? I just purchased a used CX100 on ebay and got an email from them offering to cover it. $26 for one year and $39 for two years. Thoughts? Experience? Any "local" objects. Point system based on number of jumps made within a week. Right now its Cincy leading 38 to 35. "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

For some reason psychopacking has been increasing in popularity at my home DZ. I will tell you what I tell anyone else who asks me about it. Ohio is in the middle of a BASE jumping competition and we have been cracking them at the bottom of the objects after a successful jump. Of course with the rate we're going we're going to need IVs and new GFs by the time the competition is over "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

Adventures in dating - a chronicle of a first date
jtnesbitt replied to k-dubjumps's topic in The Bonfire
It's actually Joe, but whatever ;) No I agree totally. In fact, K-dubs date is a classic example of coaching or self help gone wrong. This guy apparently researched it, then fucked up the application or it didnt even apply at all. As you mentioned each situation is unique. Adventures in dating - a chronicle of a first date
jtnesbitt replied to k-dubjumps's topic in The Bonfire
Not defending this guy...because he clearly has issues, but i thought I might post something i learned recently. One of the satellite radio stations i listen to has a show for guys by guys about dating. Basically these guys teach classes all over the world, have several books, a tv show, and a radio show. They are definitely the most popular dating coaches for guys in the US right now. The thing they always do first is establish what the guy is looking for...whether its a fling, a FWB, or someone looking for a serious relationship. I was shocked to hear some of the things they teach to guys looking for serious relationships. One of the things they say over and over is becareful with money, even if you have lots of it. They are constantly coaching guys to find out if the woman is willing to reciprocate the spending, because if they are thats a great sign they really are into you and not just looking for a fling or free meals/drinks. The only reason I bring this up is because the guy k-dub went out with specifically mentioned 2 examples these coaches use all the time. Basically they were probing questions/actions but he totally fucked up the delivery making them completely offensive. One of the things i always hear them talk about is "If you buy a drink for a girl, drink it slow, let her finish first and see what happens. If you both run out, excuse yourself to the bathroom for a few minutes and see if she bought you a new one or offers when you come back. Repeat if necessary unil you get a feel for her." Another is "If you take a girl on an expensive date,a nd you want to go out again, suggest something low key like cooking or a night in." These tactics are geared towards letting the guy know if the girl is really interested in him or not. Unfortunately in this case this guy obviously has some other issues and jacked these strategies all up. Where does this movie rank between the first two AVPs? I thought the first AVP was really good, but the second one blew so bad i can't believe they made another. The weather is just as good in Texas, and the cost of living is WAY cheaper. +1 I used to have a bad image of Texas until i started traveling there for work a lot. I fell in love with the Sugarland area outside Houston but there are lots of other nice areas as well. (Its a BIG state.) Great job opportunities, good economy, cheap land, cheap taxes, cheap fuel, easy to commute, lots of DZs, and great weather. Also, if you live near Houston or Dallas getting to other parts of the country is very efficient and cheap since so many of the airlines not only have hubs there but are based there. City of Nashville vs Skyride court date set
jtnesbitt replied to BillyVance's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Jeff, KY is just 30 min south of Start. Start has no business in this thread. They do not use the same tactics as SR. Start has ONE website, not many, and as myself and other have pointed out the cities listed are for SEO, which many businesses do. Furthermore, Start does attract skydivers from not only the cities listed but also as far away as Michigan, Northern Ohio, Nashville, and Pittsburgh. This isnt because of marketing tactics this is because of great people, faculties, and instruction. Hell Start has instructors and teams that travel 6+ hours to get there....so its not deceptive marketing that is doing it. I shouldnt have fallen for the bait Hallux put out there who i temporarily forgot is just a duplicate username for someone who was banned early on in the thread. City of Nashville vs Skyride court date set
jtnesbitt replied to BillyVance's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
OK, my statement was misinterpreted. What i meant was most skydiving websites list the major metropolitan areas around them that they serve. As do most businesses. I am not defending SR, just trying to figure out why someone made the jump from SR to a completely unrelated DZ. You made a point that has been made several dozen times in this thread already. Good for you. Is it too much to ask that we at least keep the threads bashing different DZs separate? I'm not even asking you to start a new one since they already exist, just stick to the ones that are already out there. I blame technology and society. First, technology had made it to where you now have to make a serious of mistakes to have an accident. Break the chain ad you are fine. Second, it's just another example of the purification of America. Recently I saw a great video spoof of someone telling a student they cannot demo a velo cuz they will die. When they persist they break it down calling out their experience and shitty skills. Yes, thats a spoof, but we all know its based on reality. The pussification of modern society is ridiculous and it has certainly crossed over to skydiving. Now, should we say exactly what we mean? No. I dont mean that at all and I am not trying to get into teaching and psychology here. The problem is if someone gets their feelings hurt there are usually at least 3 other people that run to their defense and tell them its going to be ok and it wasnt that big of a deal and makes the situation worse by offering th wrong enforcement. City of Nashville vs Skyride court date set
jtnesbitt replied to BillyVance's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Weak. Completely different company, and they have a single SITE...not sites. The cities mentioned are for metatag purposes and 99% of skydiving websites do the same thing. Start does indeed serve those areas and has jumpers that travel much further than those cities listed every single weekend. This is is popular at one of the local DZs I frequent. One TI in particular doesnt like the joke, as he thinks its a bit tasteless to be telling students. We will call him "Bob." So once the other TIs find out Bob doesnt like the joke, it becomes much more entertaining to tell the joke to Bob's students once they were strapped in as opposed to telling their own because it would make Bob blush temendously. Well Bob is a very smart guy...so he went out and bought a little toy Ferrari. (The matchbox kind.) He was joking around on the ground with the other TIs about it, saying he was going to jump with it in his pocket so that they couldnt deliver the punchline. So they get up to alt, strap in, and about this time the joke would occur, so Bob pulls out the car, shows it to the other TIs and winks. One of the TIs sitting a few people back yells forward to the whole load: "Hey! Do you know what the difference is between a Porsche and an erection? Bob doesnt have a Porsche!" Green??? Then it is not Key Lime pie. Go down to Southern FL and order it, then ask the waitress why it is yellow instead of green. See what happens. (Speaking from experience here.) Yeah, my GF used to live in Florida so she is stuck up about it. I cringe everytime I see it on the menu cuz I know what will happen. This is the conversation last time we went to Trio: GF: What color is your Key Lime Pie? Waitress: Huh? It's green... GF: Oh I see, nevermind then Waitress: Oh it's OK though they don't use food coloring to make it that way it's naturally green the way they make it Me: You're just digging yourself in deeper we'll take the cheesecake.
