  1. I am taking a road trip from CO up to WA, OR, CA for the month of September. Planning on hitting all the usual turbines up along the way, any boogies on that side of the country in Sept? Especially looking for wingsuit gatherings. Simon
  2. I had a blast meeting and flying with everyone, the record is just a nice big bonus out of the whole thing. Thanks all, especially to the organizers. Simon
  3. My flight is landing at Boston on August 11th at 12:53am, so really August 12th early AM. If anybody else is going to find themselves at the airport at such a silly time then let me know and we can figure out a ride. Simon
  4. Any chance you have the part number? I just ripped mine off as well.

  6. I had to repeat Level 4 twice over a 2 year time span. When I took AFF 10 years later with some tunnel time I passed them all. It doesn't matter, every one gets to be logged as a skydive.
  7. Instead of going for a canopy small enough to last a few seasons you should get something used that is the right size for you now and then sell it and buy something else used when you are ready to downsize. I have been through 3 major canopy sizes so far and aside from the cost that is a lot of waiting if you go for a custom canopy. That would rule out the Pulse because there is no used market.
  8. My first 98 landings were miserable. Some worked out OK but I didn't ever know why. I took a canopy course for jumps 99-103. I didn't get to do anything special for my 100th, just a quick hop n' pop for the class. It was all worth it, after that I knew how my canopy flew and had to work with it. I did about 25 hop n' pops after that so that I was not distracted by anything other than the canopy, and no other traffic. I haven't had a "bad" landing since, but I also don't kid myself that it won't ever happen. Bottom line, get help locally (or travel) from someone who knows what they are doing and has a camera and spend some time focused on canopy, that means maybe putting some other cool stuff on hold. It comes quickly if you are dedicated to it. Simon
  9. Does anybody know if the DRX will be available to retro fit on a G4?
  10. I use google docs spreadsheet to store the basics of mine. It is online so you don't have to worry about loosing it but also can be saved in PDF and Excel. It also has some goofy tools like putting the location onto a map. http://spreadsheets.google.com/a/repcool.com/ccc?key=pGzbUQ89Ph7TlqlGASrX5LQ&hl=en
  11. I jumped an Otter that was operating off the grass next to a concrete strip. I was told it was to save wear and tear of the tires!
  12. I am flying into MDW Jul 23rd around 22:30. I have to rent a car but if anyone needs a ride then let me know. I have a room booked at the Holiday Inn for Jul 23rd - Aug 1st. I have to work in it each morning till about lunch time before I can have fun, so I am happy to share for a reduced amount but not to ANIMAL! I don't need half the rate but whatever you can spare. PM me if interested. Yak
  13. I have a Spectre and it has only spanked me a couple of times. One was very interesting, I am sure it was "bad air". A load of us jumped in Eloy and ALL of us on the jump had nasty slammers, one girl ended up in the ER for whiplash. I think there were 4 or 5 of us, obviously something was common between the openings. Some folks had packed themselves and some had packers, but not the same packers. We ranged in experience from 100 to 300 jumps so I don't think body position was it. Odd.
  14. Why do you feel the need to insult females with that nasty wording. You hate females or something? Disgusting the word you use here makes the "N" word seem like a nursery rhyme term....... (and NO, I dont like either word I am just comparing) marc, that word doesn't have the same horrible connotation in other countries as it does here. spend a week in britain and you'll hear it a lot. Heck, it doesn't even specifically target women, IIRC. it's like saying "assholes"...i highly doubt rhys was targeting females with that usage. I grew up in the UK, trust me, I would say asshole in front of my mother but I would never say the C word. I don't know where you grew up in England or where you visited but your view does not represent the entire country at all. You could get yourself in almost as much trouble as you would if you use the word Fanny there.
  15. If you look in classifieds you will see SVCO coaching in there at 200 bucks for 15 minutes.....
  16. Why do people emphasise the fact that they can stand up their landings? Everyone else stands up so it must be the thing to do. Why is standing up a landing important to you? It shows that I planned and controlled the situation for the best possible outcome. What do you consider a poor landing? Hitting something. How do you define a good landing? It went as planned. (mostly) Are you an instructor/coach and what do you say about landings in front of new jumpers? (EDIT2: non-instructors, please note that i say in front of new jumpers, rather than to new jumpers.) Coach. I try and make folks feel comfortable about their landings and point out that a good PLF beats many standup landings. I have seen more injuries (including myself) from any PLF attempt. I have only ever been complimented on a landing once, and that was a PLF. When do you (have to) PLF? If it doesn't look 100% like you will make the landing work as planned then a PLF is a good plan to execute.
  17. Howdy, This goes out to Melbourne area skydivers. I see that there is at least one DZ with a turbine. I have been asked tgo there for 6 months for work. What is jumping like there during your winter (now)? Can I still expect to get a decent weekend and a few week days in or do things slow down a lot? The season just got going here (Denver) so I just can't go if I can't get a jump season in! Thanks, Simon
  18. This is funny. Looks like someone picked up a sticker and flyer when doing a tandem. No point in throwing it away when you can list it on Ebay, question is, will it sell? http://cgi.ebay.com/SKYDIVE-ELSINORE-WINDOW-STICKER-FLYER-NEW_W0QQitemZ170329388769QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item27a86c36e1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A570%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
  19. Thanks for the replies folks, I am going to try and stretch this business trip!
  20. Mile Hi is the place to be if you want to get jumping, it is the only turbine in the state. It is north of Denver in Longmont, so if you want to jump and can work anywhere then I would look around that area. The Springs is a couple of hours to the south and there are a few Cessna DZ's to the west in Canyon City.
  21. San Jose. I came there last year and toured all 3 of those DZ's but that was a summer weekend. Lodi appeals on price and it was friendly last time...I am sure that hasn't changed.
  22. I am heading to CA for business next week and might extend my trip if the jumping scene during the week out there is decent during the week, thinking Lodi, Davis or Byron. Thanks, Simon
  23. I had a great time and want to also thank everyone. If it gets done again I would even be happy to pay! Simon
