  1. Photographer or videographer? Like Chris said, the FF2 is a great side mount helmet...PM me or visit my site linked below if you want some more info on them. As for a camera, whether you are looking at video or still cameras, there are many options, a lot depends on personal preference. The norm for video is Sony in either mini-dv or hdv, and the norm for still is an SLR or DSLR from Canon or Nikon. Hope that helps... Miami
  2. I agree with crazydiver on this. I've jumped xaos canopies up to about 3.3:1 and the front riser pressure is still lighter in comparison to any other crossbraced I've jumped. Miami
  3. That was written somewhere but not followed...I had a 170 with an exit weight of 225 the entire time I was there. Miami
  4. The 490 rigs (dual aad rigs) from the academy were all RI rigs as well. Miami
  5. In 2002 most of the 490 rigs had FXCs on the main and the reserve, main set for 2500', reserve for 1000'. By the time I left in 2005 most of the rigs had FXC's on the main (still set at 2500') and an expert cypres on the reserve. Main FXC fires we not rare, but I can't recall ever seeing a reserve fire on a 490 rig that was not involved in a malfunction. I also believe that there have not been any 2 out scenarios due to the dual aads there. Miami
  6. No idea what Perris used but the academy's rigs with dual aads were solely for 490 jumps. As soon as they went on to AFF they switched to throw out. The dual aad rigs had the ripcord for the main basically where the cutaway is located on the typical sport rig and an sos system. Miami
  7. They are somewhat generic...however the number 2 fits the sensor on my 20D perfectly. Since Canon is only making 3 sensor sizes I would assume the others match as well. Also you get two swipes per swab per cleaning...you can flip it and use the other side. If I remember correctly the sensor swabs I got on eBay ended up costing about $1.25 each for a pack of 12, and the eclipse ran me about $5-6. I did have to use 2 swabs the first time I cleaned my sensor, but only needed one per cleaning since then. Per Photographic Solutions, Inc. Pec Pads are not supposed to be used to clean the sensor, just lenses and filters. Miami
  8. Dust and particles left from the friction of the lens in the lens mount most likely. I've had to clean my 20D a couple times (and now that I think about it, it needs another cleaning now!)...the air blaster gets some dust off, but not all of it. The sensor cleaning feature (for canon) on anything other than the 400D does nothing but lock the mirror up so you can get to the sensor to clean it. Dust will show up mostly when you are at a low (hope I'm not getting this backwards) aperture (higher numbers) and shooting against a bright, evenly lit background (like blue sky). If you're shooting subjects with busy backgrounds any dust will be pretty much undetectable. Miami
  9. Why not flip your pouch for a left handed BOC? Miami
  10. I picked up my supplies (for a fraction of the price)from eBay...personally I prefer the Sensor Swabs, which are individually packaged and prewrapped on the sticks. Dampen it with the Eclipse fluid and wipe off the crud! Miami
  11. I believe he is referencing the humor of the 6:07PM blotter entry. Miami
  12. Before living in Colorado a few years ago I had seen it snowing exactly once, so I used to be in the same mindset. Man did three years in CO blow that away! Miami
  13. You can tell you're a true texan...calling a sprinkle like that a blizzard! Miami
  14. David is a Vietnam vet as well. Miami
  15. Zooey Deschanel...probably my favorite actress. Miami
  16. Dude, I'm talking to our mom-in-law right now and she's grossed out, you'll have to call her now and give her the full story. Miami
  17. Nice, what did you end up using to put it together? Miami
  18. Regular pro pack, quarter slider, nose exposed but pushed a little into center then make sure front of slider extends a little past the nose, fold stabs back over steering lines to help keep them in place. Just a couple rolls of the tail for control while its on the ground. About 12" from last stow to the soft links. I very rarely (maybe twice over 400ish jumps) have a center cell not wanting to inflate right away and usual opening are soft and on heading...at most 45 degrees off. Hope that helps... Miami
  19. Reality is seldom happy news. Keep fighting the good fight...just don't expect much support, as most want to do what is easy rather than what is right. Miami
  20. Bringing up an old thread here...was looking for alternatives to declawing and found this thread, thought it might be useful to some... I've been using "soft paws" on both of my cats for a couple months now and they have been working great...excellent alternative to declawing. One of our cats used to be fairly destructive and these things have rendered her harmless to our furniture, carpet, boxsprings, mattress, etc.. Had to do the ol' burrito roll with them to apply the first time, then replacing one here and there has been stupidly easy. Miami
  21. For pc cameras the pc1000 is regarded as a very nice camera for its image quality and size, but the pc110 is still a great camera! I use a pc110 in an FF2 for AFF jumps with a .25 and it is the most solid performing camera I have ever owned. Sure its a few oz heavier than the latest and greatest, but when this one finally does kick the bucket I'll be looking for one of the same to replace it. Miami
  22. A delta2...the only reason I didn't cut it away was because the reserve was a 22' flat in a belly wart. Miami
  23. Oops! Try this one. Miami
  24. Ok, I was incorrect in which tool I was thinking...it was not quickmask but extract. Cut me a little slack on the quality of the job, I only spent 15-20 minutes doing this sequence so there are a decent amount of imperfections...I just wanted to show an example of what I was talking about. The photo is
  25. I'll give making one a shot tonight or tomorrow, but with the quickmask tool you should be able to make a sequence from a series of handheld, rotating pov stills fairly easily. But hell, I could be wrong...I'll report back after I get a chance to make one (I *think* I have a few sets of pics that will work in my library...). BTW, last semester one of my projects for photography was to use multiple negatives on one exposure...now that was painful! Miami
