  7. Downhill long boarding is really really sick. A lot of times I go faster than I can run and I'm getting the speed wobble + concrete hug combo. I'm usually using gear that adds more drag so I will not go that fast. Your friend must be very good if he wants to decrease the drag!!!!!! Downhill street luge, for me, it's a lot more stable but belly street luge iz the shkit, is just like tracking Concrete tracking that is. I've found out that tracking turns are a lot like concrete tracking turns. All the longboard lovers needs to check this shkit http://www.yvonvite.ch/ Cheers guys, Jean-Arthur Deda. 9. Gee, Every day you learn something new and ... Once again you are right. If I'm not wrong all the current products from PD are non x-braced. I didn't know that PD had made in the past a few x-braced canopies. After I've read your post I've googled arround and I've found (not far away from here) about the z-braced. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/safety/detail_page.cgi?ID=566 How come Excalibur and other x-braced canopies are no longer available in PD current line of products? 10. I've just checked and you are right! On parachutes & paragliders each cell is divided in 3, just like you describe it. In the attachment I've drawn the cross braced setup that I have on my kite. I agree with you, that adding 3 ribs with 2 diagonal braces for each cell makes the wing more efficient compare with 1 rib + 2 brace per cell. Don't know exactly why they chose that method. http://www.cobrakite.com/beamer2.html Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  11. Sorry for adding more wood on the fire but .... I'm really interested in that subject. I have an XBraced kite and all the para-gliders that I've seen were XBraced too. I've been asking myself a lot why that XBraced thing makes the wing so much efficient. I've found myself a small acceptable explanation and I'm wonderig if it's any good. Please correct me if you feel that I'm wrong. Let's say we have a wing with 3 cells, 5 vertical ribs and 4 sets of ABCD lines (connected to the ribs). I'm thinking that: - in flight, the middle cell for instance, because of the internal pressure will bulge and by doing that it will force the wing to lose span and projected area. (up left corner of the attachment) - To correct this problem we place 3 more ribs (one in middle of each cell). Those ribs can be attached to lines or not. - Case 1: If they are attached to lines it's just like we double the number of cells. We add more drag because of the extra lines. (down left corner of the attachment) - Case 2: If the 3 extra ribs are are not attached to lines the cells will still deform but in a zigzag kinda way (up right corner of the attachment). We can fix this last problem by adding the XBraced fabric that force the free ribs to stay locked (on the vertical axis) relative to the other ribs. This is reducing the lost area due to cell bulging. (down right corner of the attachment) So in the end, with the XBrace setup, for the same nylon surface we get more projected surface without adding extra drag. Does it make any sense? Please Discuss. Man !!!!!!!! My longest flight so far has been 10-15 min with DHV1 in half break. No thermal. Just lunch and land. But you are doing some pretty hard core stuff mate.... what are you flying in there? DHV2? Edit to ask: How do you do D-BAG from a plane? Do you have a slider? Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!

Somebody mention to me in another thread that people are already doing CReW with paragliders but I didn't believe it until I've seen it. Sick, just plain sick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLX0Hah3ImA I really want to do CReW one day. I'm almost finishing my paragliding class and my next big step is to buy a wing. More money to spend & shit. Some indoor paragliding (does it count for B.A.S.E.?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNMhPDCpBbg Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!

  17. That's exactly my setup. Over a period of one year I've booted XP less than 10 times. I hope you didn't install the 64bit version. I had few problems with flash player on the 64bit. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  18. I'm sure you've meant NAV200. That's the smallest one from navigator family. If you look in the NAV200 charts, the MAXIMUM weight for students is 130 pounds. With gear you have around 171 pounds. Move up in the charts. I can tell you that Nav260 it's a lot more easier to land than NAV200. In flare NAV200 levels out when your hands are at hip level. Nav260 levels out a bit lower than shoulder level and you can squeeze 2 flares out of NAV260. Edit: spelling. Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!

  20. Maybe I didn't point out well enough that I am doing flare tests under 3k. My bad. I've seen some movies where people fly close to each other under canopy. I'm not talking about CReW just flying close to each other. Should I try to talk one of my DZO or TM friends into flying with me or that stuff is just to advanced for my current level? The fact that I'm flying with someone that has a lot of experience, it might also help with the DZO fear of letting me open high because the person that is flying with me can guide me to a safe landing if we're not making it back to the landing area. Any thoughts? Lock, Dock and Two Smoking Barrelrolls!
  21. Open at 4000 feet, saddle at 3500. I got only 500 ft to do a canopy check, flare tests and that's it because under 3000 ft no crazy stuff under canopy:no playing with the stall, no nothing. Just look every 10 sec where the others are, find the wind direction, flare tests and maybe do some spirals if nobody is close to you. From 2000' begin standing next to your patten entry point and maybe some 360 to burn altitude but no more than 360 because the AAD might fire. That's my canopy ride. Right after I was no longer a student I was instructed to open at 4000'. Whenever I ask if I can open really really high (7000+) my former instructors/DZO says to me that is not safe because of the high winds. Some TM friends that do CReW tell me that's no problem just let ppl know that you open high. I'm getting mix signals here. I'm guessing that the DZO is telling me that for my own good but .... What can I do just to get more canopy air time? These days I'm jumping with the same canopy that I really like and I just want to try more stuff with it. Any ideas? Edit for spelling.
