  1. If I were protesting I wouldn't plant my ass down on a public sidewalk obstructing the rights of other people to use it. I would set down on the grass right next to the sidewalk and make my opinion known from there. That's how I would treat others and expect to be treated. Which requires someone to show respect for others Something the OWS crowd does not do I agree. In simple terms they are trying to make their point by being as noisy and irritating as possible everyone else be damned.

  3. And when I was a kid, some had sharpeners, but many had sharpeners that were really just razor blades imbedded into a cardboard holder so that you could get incredibly sharp points. Now that was cool Wendy P. HAA, I remember those. When I was in high school they offered archery as part of PE too.
  4. This guy bears a striking resemblance to Bin Laden. Did he have a brother?
  5. I have heard a lot of positive feedback from people who use one. I found a couple clips from UPT and found them useful. I've been trying to put the links up here but they keep getting messed up. Go to YouTube and type in, Semi Stowless deployment bag, and the clips will come up.

Tequila is not your friend. Oh, he may act like he's your friend, he'll hang out with you in a bar, but the next day you'll wish you never met the bastard. Tequila, the strongest drink in the world. It picks up the bed you're lying in and spins it at 90 RPMs
  7. I'm kind of torn on this one. If they stay in jail we, the tax payer, foots the bill. On the other hand if they get bailed out on the fools' gold it will won't cost us so much. Wish there was some way to make them pay for their accommodations with "Bubba."
  8. This video shows how a proper prepared citizen can protect themselves from thugs. First video on the page is the one I already posted here. The second one down is this link. http://www.frontsight.com/video/lastchance.asp?vid=2
  9. http://www.frontsight.com/video/lastchance.asp?vid=1 A firearm in the house is useless if you can't get to it. I use this example as a tactic based on expected confrontation. If the homeowners had a gun in the house, this may still have happened. I agree. These poor people were totally unprepared. Those thugs just walked right in an unlocked patio door. It may still have happened. Maybe not. If they had done something as simple as having locked the door this whole scenario may have played out differently. Sad.[/:(]
  10. I agree 100% with what you said here. As individuals we have to take the responsibility for our own safety. Assembling a good "tool Box" to prevent being victimized is the point I like to make. I have included firearms as part of my choices. I have no issue with those who have decided they don't want to include guns. That's their right. What I do have a problem with is those who think they should decide for me.
  11. You still living in the stone age? What I do advocate or not: None of your biz. You truly believe *tabs* are out since Stasi's out? In your country? BTW: You sound like a freshly released little doggie here. Weird. None of his biz????? You make coments and then ask everyone to ignore the person behind the curtin?? Funny shit Thanks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=of8f7Kj1yiE
  12. Bwahahahahaaa .... looks like a Mafia ad! Hey, where's the video? Wanna see blood, bloody intestines. Fixed It. Video is half way down the page. http://www.frontsight.com/video/lastchance.asp?vid=1
  13. Someone sent this link to me today. Its a family of 3 massacred in a home invasion. There are some very evil people out there. Protect yourselves. Sorry I don't know how to do the clicky. http://www.frontsight.com/video/lastchance.asp?vid=1
  14. Many are in the same boat. While the great state of Alabama is a "May Issue" state, in practice they are a "Shall Issue" state. Most people should have no problem getting a CCW in Alabama. Don't you just love the South
  15. Ok, Hypothetical situation. Skydiver buys this rig for $X. Returns rig to rightful owner who happens to be a friend of his. Friend decides to file a report to try and nail whoever stole his rig. His friend gets charged for receiving stolen property? Don't DAs have discretion as to whether charges are filed or not?
  16. That's pretty much my take on it. I can't see where the comment made in here about someone setting it up backwards came from.
  17. Everyone armed will just make the criminals change tactics. In the end, it will be the same: the police will protect overall society. A person with a CCW finding himself alone with a pair of armed assholes will not get the upper hand. I believe you have made a good point about criminals changing tactics. They know that citizens are carrying guns and they have been more careful to target those they know are not likely to be armed. I believe the police protect us as best they can but they rarely intervene to prevent violence. The vast majority of their work is dealing with the aftermath. A CCW who simply finds himself/herself alone with a pair of armed assholes did not do a good job of preparing themselves for that eventuality. Being vigilant and mentally prepared at all times is essential for everyone but especially a CCW.
  18. When I was 9 I got curious about guns and wanted one. My father was a wise man. He helped me approach it safely. He bought me a pellet rifle and taught me safe handling and shooting. By the time I was 14 I had a 12ga single shot, .22 and the 30-30. I respected them and didn't play with them. I had my little collection on a rack on my bedroom wall. Unfortunately gun violence gets the lead story and the front page of the newspaper. I think people like sensational stories so the media fills that void. The problem I see is the stories only sensationalize criminal violence. Rarely, if ever, do you hear in the news about J.Q. Citizen stopping violent assaults with a firearm.
  19. Each of these safety improvements were opposed by people who thought skydiving gear was good enough, so why try to make it better. I think history has shown the critics wrong on all of the above counts, and I believe it will also find them wrong about the Skyhook. The Skyhook has been installed on over 15,000 rigs now, with millions of jumps logged, and quite frankly, it has had far fewer problems than any of the above mentioned safety advances. Bill, I've packed roughly 40-50 SkyHook equipped rigs. I've done Sigmas, Vectors and Javelins. I've looked at them very closely and I can't see how anyone can pack it "Backwards" as was stated somewhere here. Short of tying off the hook with something other than a turn of seal thread, I can't see how you can potentially prevent the pilot chute from deploying the canopy in the event of a main total. Is there anything else to watch out for that could be a problem?
  20. Well, the saga continues. Met with Orthopedic Surgeon today. He said I am definitely a candidate for either a resurfacing of the hip joint or a full hip replacement. I've done a good bit of research on the resurfacing and it looks like a better option at my relatively young age when it comes to these kinds of procedures. I would like to know, for those of you who have had this done, how long did it take to get back in the air and what kind of changes you've made to your skydiving, i.e., equipment choices, skydiving disciplines ect, etc. etc.
  21. Many are in the same boat. There are states that can issue permits but don't unless you can prove you need it. They are Rhode Island, New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Hawaii, Delaware, Connecticut, California, Alabama. From what I've heard, Alabama is usually pretty easy to obtain. I New York, California and New Jersey, Hawaii, and Maryland its extremely remote that you would ever get a permit. A guy I know was a licensed Private Investigator in New Jersey and it took 6 Months for him to get approved.
  22. Heinlein wasn't a political scientist; he was a science fiction writer. Besides which, guns don't say please and thank-you; people do. When I was 14 I had just gotten home from School (I was alone) when a few minutes later I answered a knock at the door and this guy started to force his way in. We struggled for a bit and he fell one way and I fell another. I was able to jump up and retrieve my 30-30. He was on his way back to my room when I aimed straight into his face. He POLITELY" stopped and "POLITELY" ran away. Neither of us said a word. The message was very clear.
  23. Can someone who knows how to do the clicky thing do it with this link to the History of the skyhook. Shows cutaways under spinning mals along with others. Appreciate it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yY3Gs4XMdKE
  24. ......................................................................... Ask the rigger if you can read the manual - while he repacks your reserve. If he does not have a Skyhook manual, grab your gear and run away screaming! +1
