What does that have to do with the discussion? Unexpected things happen, therefore God? Either you believe you are totally in charge of your life, or there are outside forces, which you cannot know or understand, which were, ultimately, put into place, to form you into the person you are, today, thus, affecting someone else's life, in some unforeseen way.

So, what if I am a true believer in evolution, and believe that only the strong survive? That really doesn't hold up to your concept of making a better world, does it, which is a belief system, in itself...Those who promote the betterment of mankind, regardless of any claimed belief or lack thereof, still have something inside of them, which pushes them to a pie in the sky future, even if they claim it's for thier great great grandkids, who may or may not ever exist...Now, there's something I can believe in.

Do you believe that any circumstances, which were or are beyond your control, have made you the person you are, today? Sadly, the adage,"I am the captain of my fate." is good, until the old lady, who is also captain of her fate, runs a stop sign and T-bones you.

What makes me livid, is that fact that there's just as much oil 5 miles off the coast, in 100-200' of water, but we are so worried about our precious tourist dollars-just a sorry excuse, by the environmentalists, not to drill, at all,- that sorme tourist might have their eye offended, by the sight of a drilling rig. This mess, even if it did happen, in shallow water, could have been contained, and stopped, in short order. Looks like the environmentalist mentallity has come back to bite them, in their own ass.

Welded, bolted, riveted...It doesn't matter..It it was nothing but a z-bar truss system, with an indivdual plate, hanging each end of the truss, from the superstructure, the whole system was only as strong as the connection. If, say, every tenth floor was a beam system, resting fully, on the superstructure, they probably wouldn't have collapsed...At least, not as quickly. The fact is, those buildings were chosen, as targets, because they had been studied, and it was obvious, what would happen, in that scenario. It wasn't just about sticking a thumb in the eye of a capitalist society, because that's what those buildings represented.

After swallowing numerous ounces of gasoline, I started wrapping a plastic bag around the hose, and pressurizing the tank, by blowing into it, instead of sucking...Of course, if the tank is 3/4 empty, that's alot of wind...Just get a clear plastic hose, 1/2" in diameter...You can see it coming.

It is my understanding, that the towers were built, on the cheap. Typical mentality of the era. Afterall, over engineering costs money and time, and isn't necessary. What happened to the towers, could never have happened to the the Empire State Building. Instead of each floor's structure resting on the superstructure, it was hung on the superstructure with rivets. It's like alot of today's carpentry, which makes me shake my head...At one time, the strongest place in the house, was the doorway. Not anymore. Once the weight of the floors, above the explosion, began to move, a few rivets weren't going to stop the momentum. It can all be laid at the feet of the architects and engineers...So much for science.

I went all last summer, as an experiment, without AC...Left the windows open, and kept an industrial fan running, 24/7. My place is fairly shaded, except for about 3 hours, in the middle of the day. I'd say, I saved $60-$80 each month, on the bill. Back in the day, before ac, they had whole house fans, which were huge venturi fans, mounted in the ceiling, in a central hallway...You just cracked the windows, and a good breeze moved through the house.
