In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you've worked twenty years, in a company, and studied, and gone through an apprenticeship program, [Oops. that ugly class thing, raising its head, again] and moved up, you are willing to split your pay, and prestige and parking spot, with the rookie, who just walked in the door? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- careful, there, Lucky - I'm assuming you are also pro-union, so the pecking order must be supported in your answer even though it conflicts with your other philosophies..... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can have unionization and allow for seniority while reducing class disparity. Union seniorty can be realized within while reducing class disparity without. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "seniority" huh? nothing about skill and talent? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yet, you embrace this designation of class. Shouldn't the lead man ,voluntarily, give up some of his pay, so that the newbee won't feel so unequal? That's why I despise younions. When I'm on a job, no one stands around, because some job is beneath them. If you ain't hittin' it, then, hit the road... Equality, for all.
  2. >I believe this is a crayon "Holocaust" Why do you hate the smell of new crayons?
  3. You can have unionization and allow for seniority while reducing class disparity. Union seniorty can be realized within while reducing class disparity without. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amazing, that he hates all of those old, blue hairs, who do nothing but garden and go to tea parties,[not the politcal kind] all day. They, too, have earned their senority in life. He just doesn't approve.
  4. >How can any insurance company truly compete with an entity that: >1. Controls/Regulates it and a very large share of it's market. >2. Has essentially an unlimited supply of money. There are three possibilities: [4] Public option forces health insurance out of business, because private industry must make a profit to survive, unlike the govt. Then, the govt. starts doling out health benifits, like those evil insurance companies. You pay your premium...errr. tax, and are told, Sorry, we just can't cover that. All the while, adding layers and layers of beuracracy, in order to make govt. employees, out of the masses, thus insuring a permanent voting base. Fewer and fewer dollars actually end up, in the doctor's hands.
  5. I don't have healthcare, and it's not an emergency, for me. I save several thousand a year, and make my statement, to the insurance companies, that their premiums are rediculously high. Maybe, I'm just one of those lucky one's, who was born with healthy genes, so I don't want to be subsidized, nor do i want to subsidize, anyone else. Outside of catastrophic care, most health insurance is to insure that someone can continue to live an unhealthy lifestyle, which, generally, was of their own making. Since the left seems to be behind the whole euginics, euthinasia mentality, why, on the other hand, are they so bent on prolonging the lives of those, they really want to just die? Wouldn't the world be better off with fewer people.... Less CO2, we can forget about cap and trade.
  6. That's why all of those other socialist countries, who take half of their citizens' money to support the system, have to drag us, kicking and screaming, to every natural disaster, around the globe.
  7. My problem, personally, is that, my work is my commodity. Even if I changed the exercise to $100,000@25%, $200,00@40% and above that, at 75%, the man who makes money, by the sweat of his brow, is going to sit down, once he starts doing the math.
  8. You will not get any of what you want with what is being proposed. Maybe, the problem of competition, within the industry should be looked at, first. There have been several suggestions, which have simply been ignored, because it causes financial harm to another sector... Namely, trial lawyers..Removing state boundaries, has also been shot down. How about a person actually being able to pick and choose their personal coverage? If I am not diabetic, why should I even have such things in my policy? Honestly, the best thing the consumer could do, for themselves, is to get catasrophic care, with a high deductible, and set the saved money aside, to cover it. At today's rates, it wouldn't take long to set aside 10-20,000, for a deductible.
  9. Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tell me, why does it make you feel good, that the fastest runners, be mechanically hobbled, just so that those, at the back of the pack, will finish closer to them? I.E. close the gap. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let's start with the old adage,"You never got a job, from a poor man." Other than that, I am not filled with jealousy or contempt, because some man has more than me. I don't feel some need for egalitarian justice. When someone I know, makes a major advancement, in life, I truly congratulate them, and wish them the best. I have no desire for the govt, to get its GREEDY, wasteful hands, upon their hard earned gain. Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One of the stupidest things, this feel good, liberal society has done, is to eliminate competition, amongst children, because someone might have their self esteem crushed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We now have elementary schools,[Let's brainwash 'em early] which, at the beginning of the school year, removes all of an individual's supplies, and puts them into a common box, to be redistributed....God forbid, you should have the 64 count box of Crayons, with the built in sharpener, and some other kid, only got the 24 colors. Then, there's the stupidity of giving everyone a trophy, just so that they won't feel left out...And what's up with graduating from Kindergarten? How frigging stupid is that?
  10. And sadly, that's where the powers that be, would like to keep everyone. Making just enough money, after taxes, to maintain the basics of life.... Government hates free people, who do not require the rat race, to survive. If it weren't for the necessity of money, at the point of diminishing returns, the best thing the people could do, to keep the government in check, would be to sit down, for the rest of the year, and enjoy themselves.

Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you've worked twenty years, in a company, and studied, and gone through an apprenticeship program, [Oops. that ugly class thing, raising its head, again] and moved up, you are willing to split your pay, and prestige and parking spot, with the rookie, who just walked in the door? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You are doing, exactly, the same thing. You have no clue, as to the struggles a person has gone through, to achieve their financial station, in life, which you are calling class. They may have started at a lower station, than you, but worked harder, had different natural gifts, which they took advantage of, and simply achieved more. You simply want to punish them, becuase they have more than you. Tell me, why does it make you feel good, that the fastest runners, be mechanically hobbled, just so that those, at the back of the pack, will finish closer to them? I.E. close the gap. One of the stupidest things, this feel good, liberal society has done, is to eliminate competition, amongst children, because someone might have their self esteem crushed. Are we not to learn from nature? There's one head stallion, buck, rooster and everyone else gets second pickings and the castoffs.
  12. said it before and I'll say it again, slowly this time in the hopes that at least some of the gun-ophobes might actually understand... Guns don't kill people any more than forks make people fat. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Only directly. The fork, by proxy, has been the cause of obesity, in the US, which, in turn, has led to the deaths of thousands. Maybe our only eating utensil, should be a dull edged butter knife.
  13. Hey, Lucky, let me play a little numbers game with you. For this exercise, $100,000 is considered middleclass, which is taxed, at 25%. Anything above that, gets taxed at 95%. Let's say that it takes six months to make your first $100,000. After taxes, you have $75,000. The next six months, after taxes, you only get to keep $5,000. Are you really going to go to the effort, just to receive $5,000? That's why bums stay on welfare. Minimum wage just isn't worth it. Now, if the govt. kept a flat rate of 25%, the man would gladly work the extra six months, and the govt. would actually have a $25,000 gain, as opposed to nothing.
  14. That's because those who would be industrious, of their own will, can't seem to reach the golden ring, when the govt. is taking the largest portion of it, so that everything is equal, they simply see no reason, to keep striving for excellence. Socialism breeds mediocrity, it's that simple.
  15. Even on the short bus, somebody has to sit in the back.
  16. You know, it's too bad taht ACORN is going to bite teh dust. You could have gone to teh Obama School for Community Organizing, and done some real good, in tihs world... You know, starting community gardens,[Michelle, Ma Belle, will teach you how] or maybe rehabbing tenement houses.
  17. So, you are willing to give up all symbols and rewards of status? If you've worked twenty years, in a company, and studied, and gone through an apprenticeship program, [Oops. that ugly class thing, raising its head, again] and moved up, you are willing to split your pay, and prestige and parking spot, with the rookie, who just walked in the door? Even if we could truly redistribute the wealth, evenly, amongst us all, those who have spent their lives, believing that the world owes them a free living, for whatever reason, they wouldn't turn it into a profit making business. They'd enjoy it, for as long as it lasted, and then, expect some more redistribution. They wouldn't even buy a piece of land and some seed, because, God forbid, that would actually require work, to make a go of it.
  18. I'm sure that every loser, who, now sits home, will be packing a picnic lunch, to go to the local govt. clinic, for the afternoon.
  19. Well, I know that you are from that beautiful, peaceful country of New Zealand. It is amazing, how wrapped up,in American politics, you become, and want everything to run by a socialist agenda. Let me ask you, why are you here? I'll take a WAG, and say, CAPITALISM. Sorry, dude, but you can't have it both ways. Either, everyone is poor, and we all eek out a living, or there is a tiered economical society, where money is available, to flow freely, from the hand of the consumer, to the hand of the producer. If you haven't figured it out, by now, when govt. takes the biggest part of the pie, humans are still in control of the money, and because they didn't actually earn it, they see it as a source of control. Pay to play. What is it, with socialists? If all men can't or WON'T rise to their potential, no man should have that right, under his own power.
  20. The ones we have a duty to. Funny how the conservatives wave their flag ferociously about god and country, then they include the world when it's convenient. No, I want to mandate evryone have a resonable baseline, you want American poor to beg for little. And when I say poor, I'm talling struggling young families and others that in your world wouldn't be despicable. I've always said that there can never be true anarchy. You know why? Because someone will want to decide that they can tell fifty people on their block, how to act, and this entitles them to the big screen TV, Everyone else gets a little 19 incher. That is why any true socialist redistribution, regardless of the name,in front of the ism, has been a failed experiment. Someone always thinks that they are the one, who gets to drive the tractor, instead of hoeing the weeds. Wouldn't it be wonderful, if we were all of a truly altruistic heart and mind. The fact is, the largest portion, of those, permanently embedded in the govt. dole system, display the same attitude as the socialist, who has determined that it's his right to drive the tractor. They believe that it is their right, to get a check, from the govt. just because they exist. In the true socialist system, where every man gives his all, then gets an even portion back, these people would starve to death, because they choose to give nothing, but want an equal share. Why do you support such an attitude?
  21. Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why is compassion confined to what affects you, personally? That's not very big of you. I'm thinking, once the One World Government starts, then we each owe a duty to all men. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You're posturing to make a point you don't agree with. You wouldn't have 1 dime MANDATORILY allocated to another country for welfare, but you;re arguing that you would as an attempt to debunk my point. I feel a MUCH greater loyalty to my country before others, as do you, you just feel no compassion to poor people anywhere. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Then, we can, seriously, start exploring space, because I'm sure there are Galactical Ghettos, out there, somewhere, where beings are being deprived of their right, to free space travel. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Which poor people? The one's in my family, my neighborhood, my nation, my continent, my world? You have drawn a line, as to the nation, but the truth is, you really don't have a heart of compassion, but one of vengence.... You want those people, who, somehow, have gained more than you, in life, to suffer, for being successful, and the only way that you can do it, is to have the govt. steal it, at the point of a gun.
  22. Say, Africa. Saudi definitely has the ability to pay, and Africa certainly the need. That's compassion on a global scale, no? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why is compassion confined to what affects you, personally? That's not very big of you. I'm thinking, once the One World Government starts, then we each owe a duty to all men. Then, we can, seriously, start exploring space, because I'm sure there are Galactical Ghettos, out there, somewhere, where beings are being deprived of their right, to free space travel.
  23. I recognize the fact that it would cost hundreds, if not thousands, to process my little .60 worth of taxes, so, being the generous conservative, that I am, I simply redistributed it, as I saw fit.... The govt. owes me a commission, due to saving them all of that money, on bureaucratic processing.
  24. The left sure jumped onto Nobel prize winning, Al Gore's data, as the end all, to the global warming hoax.
