  1. Are you really going to draw the racist card here? while what he did shouldn't be criminal, he does get serious asshole points for that. Or maybe you should ask Arab girls who tried to date people their families didn't "approve of". oh wait, you can't since they were killed for "dishonoring their families.." seriously, you should lay off that because you'll end up losing... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  2. Well it makes sense that if you want to get married in a Jewish religious ceremony, you should be Jewish... for civilian matters, it doesn't matter (again with the exception of the immigration law which was meant to ensure that every Jew could find refuge in Israel). As for this case, I didnt know there was a "rape by fraud" law and in any way I don't think it should be criminal to be an asshole... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  3. Where did you get that from? The only place this might be relevant is for religious issue such as marriage, religious burial, etc. I can't think of any other official business where your religion matters. sure, its illeagal to lie to the authorities in general (which is true everywhere) but I never come across anything saying that its specifically criminal to lie about being Jewish. Again, the only place where your religion matters is for religious issues. the only exception maybe being the law that allows Jews to immigrate to Israel. If obtaining sex by fraud is criminal, then I guess he's guilty. I'm still not 100% comfortable with this rulling though. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  4. A stupid decision by a stupid judge, that will hopefully be cancelled when the guy appeals. While he may be a lying SOB, this shouldn't be criminal. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  5. I didn't say smarter, I said not that shallow :-) "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  6. Israelis are not that shallow. Many Israelis are suspicious of Obama because he seem to believe that he can please the Arab world by "sacrificing" the US' relationship with Israel. Doesn't matter if you agree with what he's doing (I think he doesn't understand the middle eastern mentality), but it is a valid reason for concern in Israel. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  7. So there is no reason for all of the anti Israeli propaganda flotillas that are on the way, right? oh wait, delivering goods to Gaza wasn't their goal anyway... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  8. Not sure what you mean by that. conspiracy is a big word. I'll settle for someone trying to "reposition reality" to fit their views. Thank you, I love you too. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  9. ding ding ding, we have a winner.. where do I begin? There is not even a single line in your entire post that will pass fact checking by a 7 year old... Just as an indication... there are ~7M people in Israel, 3Billion/7Million is ~$450. not $10,000 and btw, the Palestinians lead the world in aid per capita but who cares about facts, right? the rest, well, some people are beyond help. I just hope no one buys your shameless racist post. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  10. I doubt such a source exist, for anything. every journalist is a person and is biased by definition. again, you're downplaying the act. THEY manipulated the pictures and they did it more than once. yeah well, the deceleration of independence said that all men are created equal. took awhile for actions to catch up on that... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  11. yes, and the military which was the traditional watch dog of the heritage of Ataturk (founder of the modern, secular republic of Turkey) has been weaken in the last few years (heads of key branches replaced, etc.) not saying its good or bad (can't have an army too powerful in a democracy). but the power balance in Turkey has been shifting toward the east. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  12. naturally, it's human nature. That's why there are people with different views to point out things that don't add up. If Reuters wants to position itself as an unbiased source of information it has to provide raw data without any manipulation or editing. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  13. Yes, I assume it was deliberate. based on the fact that they have done it before to "intensify" the message (which a fact based news organization shouldn't do at all) and because the exact two crops, omitting the knives were done in two different pictures. As a news agency they shouldn't touch the picture, let alone crop out a key element of the scene. when they do it repeatedly, its hard to accept it as an honest mistake. once? plausible. twice, maybe. there is a pattern here and ignoring it is being naive. I'm open to any possibility. I just don't find it likely and logical based on the facts presented and the fact that its not a one time slip, and always in the same direction. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  14. seriously? No, a big part of the story is that he was attacked with knives and not by peaceful activist who didn't plan on fighting. There are more ways than one to crop a 9x6. its perfectly ok that they cropped it in that ratio to fit something. its very odd that the knife was cut out rather than, let's say,the really dark area of the knees on the left side were you expecting the "peace activists" to be armed as well? That is a CRITICAL info presented in the picture and it is in no way trivial don't you find it strange that there are 2 pictures in which the knife was cropped out? "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  15. I would, but they fixed it on their website. You can't say that its an independent photographer who did it (which is also an issue if they can't trust their sources). These photos were already published in Turkey uncropped, and they were then forwarded by Reuters cropped. I would blame "Daylife" but these pictures appear elsewhere too. note, for example here, that the AP photo (2nd) show the knife but the one attributed to Reuters (the 4th) does not. is it more likely that different newpapers and sites cropped it in the same way or that they got it like that from Reuters? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1284448/Are-photos-prove-Israeli-soldiers-attacked-activists-stormed-flotilla.html and Note picture 1 and 4 "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  16. Sorry, I don't buy that it is pure coincidence and chance and that an automatic software would crop out the knives and blood in two completely different pictures. i know a thing or two about framing a photo and it would have made more sense to crop the other end of the picture as it adds nothing to it. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  17. The original was published by the Turkish news paper hurriyet and Reuters took it from them and forwarded it to the rest of the media. it's not the first time Reuters is caught doing that. here are a few more examples. some can be described as "adding a dramatic angle" which is arguably acceptable in this case (posing a toy in front of a ruined building) and some are pure fiction (adding extra smoke to make Beirut look like its burning more) http://zombietime.com/reuters_photo_fraud/ it's interesting that Reuters "accidental" bias is always in the same direction... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  18. In the recent flotilla incident threads there were a lot of discussions about which news source is "unbiased and credible". Many refer to Reuters as one. is it? look a the deliberate cropping of the pictures from the boat, conveniently removing knives from the hands of the "peace activists" and bloody Israeli soldiers. Let's crop out what doesn't fit our story... I feel I should thank the Turkish newspaper for posting the real pictures... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  19. sure, because as we can see the lynch attempts stopped once the soldier was down on the floor... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYjkLUcbJWo "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  20. just to make the facts a little clearer. they were attacked and beaten as soon as they landed on the ship (as the video clearly shows) only after they were beaten and even shot with guns taken from the wounded soldiers, they openned fire. The fact that he shot someone who ran towards him with a drawn knife doesn't mean that 3 of his friends weren't already lying down wounded already. I suggest you ignore these childish posts of his. let him seek attention somewhere else... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  21. There were some items that are border line but i'm perfectly content with saying there were no weapons on this ship. this is beside the point. the point is that if you allow ships to pass unchecked, there will be and a lot of them. it would have been highly stupid of them to have weapons on this specific ship. This has nothing to do with the violence they've encountered and the response that followed. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  22. If the school has been used to store explosives or to fire rocket from its back yard, it is no longer considered a civilian target by any kind of international law. the fact that there are still civilians there when they shoot from there is 100% Hamas' fault (and is intentional) "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  23. What the hell are you talking about? another figment of the imagination such as Israel poisoning the water and using nuclear weapons in Gaza? These accusations are made up, and you adding that some in Israel actually admitted to taking organs is nothing but a vicious lie. period. show me where you saw that "Israeli doctors and idf personal came forward and said that it did happen". "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  24. just to be clear, i dont think jews are a chosen people. nor does most israelis and this whole stupid concept is irrelevant. using religion aand what color are people (without even knowing that most israelis are pretty colorful too) is stupid and racist "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  25. funny, I'm pretty sure you've used Israeli newspapers as sources many times before. so they are valid only when they criticize Israel? there is 100% freedom of speech in Israel. True, sometimes they tend to chip in for national moral but more often than not, the Israeli media is much more balanced than the other sources mentioned "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
