  1. you're right. Shooting back at those who are shooting at you, right after they shot at you and at the place they were shooting from doesn't make sense and is not justified. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  2. I had to read it twice just to make sure I got it right. Lebanese fired Katyusha rockets into Israel. Israel fired artillery shells back at the launch site and now Lebanon files a UN complain against Israel's retaliation !?!?! Here's a thought, stop firing rockets into Israel... http://www.jpost.com/DiplomacyAndPolitics/Article.aspx?id=248206 "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  3. I am less worried by a country using it and more by something blowing up in a major city without a clear return address. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  4. Same old story, huh? When exactly did it happen in the past when Israel threatened to bomb someone and the US stepped in and did it for them? Iran is not just an Israeli problem and I'm not sure Israel can (it definetly shouldnt have to) take care of it alone. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  5. This is developing into a pretty amusing thread... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  6. Nice one, but your logic is a little off. The prince didn't offer $900K instead of the original $100K. it's in addition so your calculation should be based on 1 Israeli = $1M. Oh where are the simple times where saddam hussein offered only $25K to families of suicide bombers... O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  7. I have mixed feelings about it. It is both a great strength of the Israeli society and a weakness that is being used by its enemies. When the deal was signed, the best way I could describe me feeling was: "Today I am proud of Israel for doing something so wrong just because it is so right..." And on the other side, I feel sorry for a society that welcomes mass murderers as national heros. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  8. And there is this guy too... I like it how they lecture to others about human rights... http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/oct/09/iranian-lashed-insult-ahmadinejad "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  9. Wrong. It is based on a lot of facts, history and over 3000 years of a deep cultural connection. there were always Jews in this land and even when most were exiled. they always face Jerusalem when praying and pray to be back. Remind me where Muslims face when they pray? How many times in Jerusalem mentioned in the Quran? It's not mythology, it's fact, based by historic evidence, real sites on the ground and a deep cultural heritage that links the nation to the land. By the way. many (if not most) of the Arabs you accept as the "original people" actually migrated to this land in the 18th century (and yes, this is fact too). Does it mean it's not their home now? no. but stop trying to claim that it is not the Jewish homeland. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  10. Darius, a key element in democracy is that the majority must not use it inherit power and protect the rights of the minority. in the UN, Israel is an automatic minority with 50+ Arab and Muslim countries. You have it all wrong, the US veto is the only thing that keeps the UN relevant. without it, 99% of the UN's resolutions will be against Israel while ignoring the rest of the world (just check the statistics of the UN Human rights council in which the US does not have a Veto right). Without the US Veto the UN would be even a bigger joke. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  11. So, if they cancel the peace treaty, shouldn't they return the Sinai to Israel? I mean, they got it back in return for peace... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  12. I honestly don't know and I hope I never find out. Technically, they can escort whoever they want But if they cross into Israeli water it can be considered an act of war. Plus being a member of NATO, I dont know how will that play out. It's probably just an empty threat but I dont think we can take a chance. Turkeys latest alignment with Iran and the. Syria didn't work well for them so maybe they'll change course a bit. Not sure we fully understand the motivation here. I can promise u its not concern for human rights though... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  13. Noted While SC is the most important forum in the world. I was talking about the UN, UN Human rights committee and the media in general. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  14. That's actually not true. Israel considered Turkey a real ally. It started to change when their Islamist PM decided that he wants to rebuild the Ottoman empire and slowly destroy the secular heritage of Ata Turk (founder of modern Turkey. This guy is dangerous. I'm still waiting for someone to ask why don't the Kurds deserve a state too? Why is it ok for the Turkish air force to bomb Kurd villages, both on the Turkish and Iraqi side. Oh and what about the 1M+ Armenians that the Turks have killed? Not even a word... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  15. On both accounts. - the quote is from June 2006, according to Wikipedia - As we know, the UN panel that was assigned to investigate it, found the blockade is legal. Just ignore the trolls... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  16. sometimes you're so full of it... and: You keep throwing big words that have nothing to do with reality. you keep blaiming others for blindly supporting their own group and being hypocritic. You know what? maybe you should first check yourself because from where I'm standing, you are more guilty of these things than anyone else here. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  17. enough said. This "council" is a joke, focusing almost only on Israel while ignoring major crises like Sudan. Even the UN secretary general said that "The Secretary-General is disappointed at the council's decision to single out only one specific regional item given the range and scope of allegations of human rights violations throughout the world" There was a UN panel accepted by both sides. Now that they found that it is legal, you undermine its legitimacy? That is lame... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  18. Not sure what you're trying to say. Yes, there are people protesting the cost of living and some market structure issues. So? People can wear a Che T-Shirt. It's a free country. No one is getting shot. Maybe I'm missing your point... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  19. good post. I did not know that. I thought they weren't allowed to. Yes. unlike SA. Israeli Arabs has full civil rights in Israel. This is a bit off topic thought and I think we've discussed the difference between Israeli Arabs and West Bank Arabs in the past. I think this is a good idea. Last March I led a group of 40 students from my University (only about 6 were Jewish and the rest were pretty much from every other faith/country/culture). We showed them the real Israel, including Arab and mixed towns, sites of historic and religious importance and sites that cause dispute. Not everything is perfect but its much better that what you might think. Anyway, I'm getting off topic here. I'll be happy to recommend an itinerary for you to follow. As for getting in, you shouldn't have a problem (I have many Muslim friends who visited Israel). Just come with a lot of patience and understand that they have a reason for asking so many questions. You can also sign up for a group tour, which will probably make it easier. O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  20. I was kind of suprised to find this article in a Turkish newspaper... http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/n.php?n=why-golda-meir-was-right-2011-08-23 "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  21. This doesn't make sense. They first boarded the boat with PAINT GUNS!!! Only after they were attacked (and some were taken captive) they had to use live ammo. Well, at least they were fair enough to point that these were no "peaceful activists" and that they were violent and organized. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  22. Because unfortunately there are two nations who consider the same small piece of land their homeland. You can Either chose to give some of it up and build a homeland on part of it or fight forever. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  23. I'm saying exactly that. - Why stop there? if you go back 100 years back, before masses of Arabs migrated from Arabia to this area, you'll get a scarcely populated land. - Why stop there? go back ~2000 years and you'll find a Jewish kingdom that is much bigger than what is indicated as "Jewish lands" on these maps. - Why stop there? if you go 3500 years back, you will have a land full of Canaanites or whatever. you can't go back only as far as suits your agenda. If you're looking for facts. the FACT is that the only time in recent history where this land wasn't under foreign rule (Roman, Turkish, British, etc.) was since 1948. There was NO Palestine before that like this map suggests. There could have been if the Arabs would have accepted the partition plan, but they didn't. They attacked and lost. and again, this is a fact. this is irrelevant to this thread though. over 100 rockets have been fired into Israel in the last 3 days. some after a cease fire was declared. And once again, war is forced upon us... Edit to add: This map indicates the West Bank and Gaza as "Palestinian land" from 1949 to 1967. This was Jordanian and Egyptian land, if anything... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  24. If anyone needed more proof how absurd and irrelevant the UN is... Lebanon, a country that is practically ruled by Hezbollah, a terrorist organization of the worst kind is serving on the UN security council... http://www.taiwannews.com.tw/etn/news_content.php?id=1684340 "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
  25. When? Israel hardly attack in Gaza unless rockets fly out of there. I assume you haven't heard about recent rocket attacks from Gaza... It's hardly news outside of Israel... But i agree, its not a contest. "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
