  1. Sorry, can't watch youtube at work. Can you describe the situation? - Dan G
  2. I have to thank you for reminding me that there are people in our country today who think like that. I just made a $500 donation to PETA. Thanks again. - Dan G
  3. Call it what you will. I don't care. I agree that we have a duty (both legal and ethical) to treat animals well. Differnt people, and different localities, have different definitions of what "well" entails. Some people think that humans should be able to do anything they want to animals. I think those peeople are psychopaths. Other people think we should treat animals better than people. I think those people are crazy. - Dan G
  4. Of course they do. Don't be silly. They don't have the same rights as humans, but they have rights. Some people, like you, think they should have no rights and you should be allowed to torture, maim, and kill them for fun. Most civilized people don't think that way. - Dan G
  5. Single dollar? Shit, I'd withdraw it all and bury it in the backyard. Someone at the bank clearly made a huge mistake. Or, just withdraw $111,112 to satisfy your OCD/sense of balance in the world. - Dan G
  6. Fuck that German asshole. It is not okay. Why would you think people who care about animal rights and preservation give a shit about the nationality of dickwad trophy hunters? - Dan G
  7. A couple of things: Mr. Haddad (if this story is even true given the source) would be facing a maximum of seven years. If you disagree, please get a dictionary and look up the word concurrently. Second, do you really need a CCW in NY State to transport a gun? I find that hard to believe. Thindly, your tone and rhetoric continue to provide an excellent example of what anti-gun people refer to as a "gun nut". Take a step back, it's just the internet. You're going over the deep end. - Dan G
  8. I wasn't aware that they had made those statements. The format seemed pretty similar. Did you watch both debates? - Dan G
  9. Nothing wrong with trophy hunting? I strongly disagree. - Dan G
  10. CNN's moderation of the debate seemed similar in professionalism, by which I mean a severe lack thereof. I didn't think the format was all that different, but it's harder to wrangle 15 people compared to five. - Dan G
  11. That was such a lame debate. Chaffee is done (or should be) Webb came off like a royal assshole O'Malley was okay, he very Presidential Sanders is unelectable Clinton just spouted off taking points And it wasn't even entertaining like the Republican shit show. - Dan G
  12. You seem to have a different definition of trophy hunting that everyone else in the world. Hunting for food, community safety, or wildlife management is not trophy hunting. - Dan G
  13. I'm fine with that. Like I said, hunting for practical reasons is fine. What practical reasons existed in this case? - Dan G
  14. Hunting for practical reasons (food, safety of your children) is not the same as trophy hunting. - Dan G
  15. Dude, she was trying to make a joke to deflect the question. It was a weak attempt at best, and she needs to be held accountable for any violations of the law. However, she knows what wiping a server means, just as much as Obama knows there are 50 states in the Union. Give it a rest. - Dan G
  16. If you think that's something that needs to be discussed, why don't you start a thread on it? Otherwise, it is just misdirection like Don said. - Dan G
  17. Forget requiring a license for using a gun. There should be a license for using statistics. 'cause this thread's killin' me. - Dan G
  18. I suspect if a black religious studies professor no one had ever heard of said Obama should get the "coon of the year award" on some second rate talk show, the news would cover it just as closely. What she said was offensive. It isn't really news, though. - Dan G
  19. Murders per gun is a stupid statistic. Especially if you are using all murders. Using gun murders per gun makes more sense, but that's not what you are doing. By your methodology, if a small town with one gun had two knife murders last year, you would say they had two murders per gun, even if that gun was never fired. It's meaningless. - Dan G
  20. I'm actually on your side on this issue, but your posts are so full of hyperbole and simply false information that you're making the gun advocate side look bad. If you're trying to use your European statistics to support this, you're wrong. You yourself cite that the murder rate in Europe (all murders) is lower than the US. Lying and twisting statistics doesn't help the cause. It's not a conspiracy theory. It's the law. The CDC is not allowd to study gun violence. By law. No conspiracy required. We do have a problem with violence, gangs, drugs, and wackos. I wouldn't say that all empirical evidence disproves gun control theory, because that simply isn't true. You can say, however, that many of the proposed gun control measures have no basis in statistics, so therefore are only theories with no supporting evidence. And stop replying to yourself. This isn't a blogging site. - Dan G
  21. Both sides are poopie heads. - Dan G
  22. I agree in part. I think the left does a better job with the personal freedoms side of it. They fall down on gun rights, but otherwise they are better than the right hands down. Fiscal responsibility, not so much. I agree that the right tries to wear the mantle of personal freedom and fiscal responsibility, but falls short on both. They are all talk and no action (except gun rights). - Dan G
  23. Ron and Rand Paul are very churchy. They just don't focus on it. Their opinions on abortion and euthanasia are entirely based in Christian theology. I don't think any of them use the "Tea Party" label, but Cruz and Rubio rode the co-opted Tea Party wave to office. They remain Tea Party favorites. Carson is also a perennial Tea Party favorite. The left didn't have to do much. The right (read: Sarah Palin) did all the work for them. That would be great. Even better if they promoted candidates that weren't just re-branded right wing social conservatives. - Dan G
  24. I was refering to your reply to billvon. I read it as accusing him of shallowing "The Liberal" party line that the current Tea Partires are just extreme right wing Republicans (which they are). If I misread your intention, I apologize. - Dan G
