There is a differences between Government and Corporations. Apparently alot of people on here can't distinguish the two. My phones are recorded at work. Don't care. Its part of the job. In fact, it helps prove I'm right when someone wants to dispute something. Again, all Circuit City wanted was to check the receipt. Checking my receipt isn't an intrusion into my life. Its not like this corporation is asking to send a representative home with me and intrude in my life. They aren't asking to send someone to work with me or even do a back ground check. All they want to do is try to keep costs down for ME the consumer. Circuit City is not tapping your phones, or searching your luggage, or coming into your house to search that. All they want to do is keep cost down. So in order for a store to protect themselves and not violate your rights, then I guess the best policy for the store to have would be hold everyone on probable cause and get it all worked out later. Just have a store employee say "I saw them pick this up but it wasn't in their shopping cart when they checked out." Its their word against yours. Now you can go to court and sue and all that other bs and waste more time and money, OR just show them your receipt.
