  1. No we aren't. The Army has just messed up their rotation approach to some degree. The AF has it right (what I do) and we cycle people in and out every four months. Is is hard? Yes. Does it suck missing the holiday season, being away from loves ones? Yes. Well, just because you say it with conviction doesn't make it so. The generals in the field say they have enough. What they need is for congress to get off it's ass and approved the defense appropriates bills so they can replentish the reserve equipment that gets used during harsh operations. Well, if the UN had done it's job we wouldn't have had to do this, now would we? Yes, WRM (war readiness material/materiel) has been depleted. And we have contracts out to replentish it. Bottom line, we have been sent kill or deter those who want to strike us in the US. We will do that until the administration (now or future) orders us to do otherwise. If we are low on vehicles, supplies, body armor, ammo, food, water, it matters not. We will still prevail. It's what we do. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  2. Okay, McCain and Bereuter are giving opinions. The generals running that operation say NO, we don't need any more troops. We just need to rotate. So you are saying Beauracrats know more about running this than generals in the field? I think not. Yeah, classified report that no one can refute. It's a crock, and SOP for organizations who want to sling mud to prop up their own agenda. Noted, but still one man's opinion. Can't access that site. Hit piece, but guess what? You can't be on both sides of the issue. What do you want, us to go in their with overwhelming force and crush the local militias (all while killing innocents)? Yeah, vehicles get damaged, repaired, and put back in to use. Body armour is not always standard gear (are very few foreign armed services use them.) Frankly, it only stops light arms and deflecting shrapnel. It does little for direct, close range shrapnel and .762 or higher cal ammunition. Too bad we don't have an army logisticians on here to help us out with what is really happening over there on the Army side. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  3. Hmmm, how would you persuade those members of NATO who refused to take part in the first mission...to enforce the 14 UN Resolutions and take the REAL burdeon of sacrifice in order to make it happen? Uh, the current administration is doing that. Of course, France and Germany have both refused to forgive debt (the easiest way to help Iraq right now.) So how would that be different from what our forces are already doing right now? LOL...man, we're doing that too. Everything listed that Kerry and Edward's would do, Bush and Co are already doing!!! So how is this better? Kerry's approach is laughable. Flip/flop/flip, then, yeah, I'd do what he is doing. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  4. Okay, so this is something you witness a lot? It would seem to me that the envio frenzy that more often development and management is stopped because of a perceived threat (this happens a lot on privately owned lands) to a so-called endangered species. Well, you say it happens...and maybe it does. But do you actually think that a lumberjack knows what the hell a snail darter or spotted owl actually is (and is able to distiguish it from other species?) I seriously doubt it. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  5. No, I am on active duty and it's why I can be charged with AWOL. Bush's status (at the time that he missed drills) was not such that he could be charged. Now it's up to his commander and the unit situation to determine and take action to revoke his status and put him on active duty if he felt Bush wasn't living up to his guard contract. His commander didn't, which probably meant that there was either an agreement that it was okay (between the CC and one or more of the pilots), to the commander simply had a climate of show or don't show, I don't care. Either way, it isn't AWOL. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  6. Safer than what? Safer than when? It based strictly on opinion because there is no way to track it. Now, no more attacks have occurred on our soil, no US aircraft has been hijacked or brought down since 9-11. As far as everywhere else in the US, I think people are more prone to watch for unusual activity, and better, report it. The nature of our free society has a security cost to it. The question is can anyone implement the appropriate set of enforceable policies that give US citizens and adequate amount of continental protection while limiting the infringements on personal rights. BTW, if you aren't a US Citizen, you aren't automatically granted the same rights as a citizen would be. This is becoming more prevalent in US security issues. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  7. Well, since the BLM happens to starts many of these fires that get out of control, it seems to me that the solution (from a tree standpoint) can be as bad or worse than the problem. Responsible logging is good for the environment. How we are doing that is a matter of opinion. I don't want to see clear cutting, but I also don't want a whole lot of people who depend on logging for their livelihood put out of work simply because of a stupid snail darter or the spotted owl. Frankly, until we can be certain that out country won't be attacked again like it was almost 3 years ago, the whole envio thingy is in the back seat for me (and I'm a huge fan of hiking, and back country skiing.) No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  8. No - the sick one is the one that sent them there under false pretenses, with insufficient resources and no exit strategy, and claimed "mission accomplished" for a photo op. May I remind you that my son is in the US Army. Hey, remind me all you want. May I remind you that I've been on continuous active duty for almost 22 years, been there, and am going back (volunteered) in two weeks. We didn't go under false pretenses. The media stirred that up. We would do it again under the exact same circumstances. Insufficient resources? Like what? We hit them with more firepower than has ever been leveled in war. Period. Just what resources are we missing? Exit strategy? It's called when a government is formed from the vote of the people of Iraq, when they reach of state of self-sustaining security, and we are convinced that the dangerous insurgents and reduced to a level where they are not longer a sufficient threat...then we can begin to reduce forces and eventually leave. Mission accomplished? Yep, the major offensive combat operation missions were accomplished, and more effectively, shorter, and will the least loss of life on both sides in the history of warfare. That was the primary mission. We are in security mode now. You lefties want to continue to harp on that he said it too early, but it was the end of major combat operations, and now we are engaged in what is referred to as low-intensity combat operations. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  9. To you maybe. The last time out country was at war like this the administration's policy from the other side resulted in more than 52,000 casualties, many of those brought on by an increase will of the enemy to fight by certain people demonstrating in America. Our military will follow Bush, they will retire and separate at first chance under Kerry. Now you tell me who believe more in those two leaders? No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  10. Last minute? I thought I still had almost 2 more months to decide!! No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  11. You act as though the entire US supports the 6 Guardsmen who committed those crimes. Oh, and by the way, we didn't invade Iraq by mistake. We did it on purpose, and would do it again. The whole WMD thingy is a media frenzy...we didn't go in there for WMDs. The difference in the US and GB is that we police ourselves. The people responsible for these problems are being taken to court. As far as thousands of collateral damage deaths? You are off by an order of magnatude. But, yes, innocent people do get killed in wars. Thankfully we have the types of precision weapons that minimize that sort of thing. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  12. Quote I think almost all of us believe in the literal meaning of "unidentified flying object" ...as in that some people have seen some objects in the sky that they cannot identify and which are then, relatively speaking, unidentified flying objects.Quote I don't agree. For years the B2 was a UFO, and trailer park trash screamed aliens. The reasons it was a UFO were pretty simple. First, it was a black project at the time (unacknowledged.) Second, it flew only at night. Third, the cross section of this thing looks pretty wild, even at dusk when you know what it is. I understand why people years ago thought their were flying saucers. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  13. Turtle, I can outlast them all...don't worry about me. It will all be moot in 2 months. Bwaahaahaa...that is the point, he already has admitted to most of it, right before he denied it. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  14. Well, the lefties can try, but if they are approached, fact by fact one can minimize the stupidity. Are you kidding? I have a group of Russian/Ukrainian friends who want to kick ass right now! No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  15. Oh, I'm used to Kallend, but I just can't pass up the opportunity to respond to him, PhillyKev, or Quade on a variety of issues. At some point, I learn some things. I'm sure they don't always feel the same way, but frankly, that isn't my problem. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  16. Now, if you knew anything about what AWOL actually is and how charges are brought against a person who is suspected of it, you'd already know that Bush couldn't possibly have been guilty of it. The media has thrown that term around like Bush has committed some kind of henious felony. It's not like he consorted with the enemy (meetings with North Vietnam) while on reserve status (proven), or participated in meetings with a group who admited to plotting to kill 6 senators and actually voted (proven), or submitted himself for 3 purple hearts usually done by medical personnel treating a patient (proven.) No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  17. One of them said it....maybe it was Tom. But your quote is dead on. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  18. Best part of that story was Tom mentioning Skydive Greene County! No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  19. Bad news? I think it's hilarious. He'll be lucky to make the cut (and if so, only because of the political slant...not because of the actually done anything artistically appealing.) Basically I think he is preempting what he knows will be a pass on this years academy awards. I think the left will react more aggressively to what happens with "The Passion of the Christ". No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  20. The exhaustion is caused from adrenaline overload. You will get used to it (and that is what causes the loss of more money... more jumps. I'm a coach, and visualization and ground practice work VERY well. If you have a ottomon (foot stool), it works well to practice your arch on one of those. Try it for 10-15 secs (hard arch), then relax. 5 sets of 3 reps, with 15 second breaks between reps, and one minute breaks between sets every other day will burn the position in to your muscle memory in a week. The more you can learn on the ground, the better you'll be in the air. Be safe, pull on time, blue skies. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  21. The birth of a new skydiver is an emotional roller coaster. You can tell how deep they've been drawn in by the seriousness with which they go after their training and look for gear, etc. I was like you five years ago...couldn't get enough of it. Luckily the net and skydiving has evolved so that you have lots of opportunities to search on line for things. I've purchased my last two mains from DZ.com, and got great deals on both of them. Find some friends at the Uni, and turn them on to a tandem....maybe your local DZ does what some do (give a free jump ticket to the person who brought the tandem.) I need to make it up to your area sometime to check out the locals..the Hinton folks are a little too relaxed about jumping early for my taste...and Skydive Dallas is a bit far at times. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  22. I'm not sure I buy your argument about your switch of candidates. If it was because religion is bullshit and GWB is religious, so is Kerry (at least if you believe him when he speaks about it.) You can find Kerry flipping and flopping a lot more, esp on issues of Judeo-Christian morals. So then who is full of BS? Religion is what it is, either you have faith to something of this nature or not. To lump the two together with no more than what you've state as your argument...well, it sounds like a troll frankly. But, that is just my opinion. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  23. I doubt it. I seem to recall the media throwing around 20 point figures have been seen before. I really don't think it matters. Some say Kerry's run is a sham, set up by the Clintons with their accomplice Terry McAuliffe. They want Hillary to run in 2008 and can't do it if Kerry is in the White House. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  24. It says more that he won't switch parties to be a republican because he believe much of the core of his party maintains his own values. He is a man with convictions. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
  25. Yep, but what is truly amazing is they are both from the same party. One is fed up with his own party (one he has been a successful member of for a lifetime) and one who is trying to make his way in his own party. If you measure the conventions on these two speakers, then yeah, Zel Miller did the tirade (and BTW, got better ratings for it as well.) However, the conventions are not simply keynote speakers. Now, lets look at the whole picture. Which party kept quiet while the other had it's own convention? Which candidates followed the time honored tradition of allowing a convention to go without response until after it had concluded? Which party picketted, hired rent-a-crowds to protest, and had more than 1800 people arrested for violating the law? Which party had more than 5 people arrested on the convention floor for lying and stealing passes to obtain access to the others convention? You can (and will) sit there and state that the Democrats are the party of inclusiveness and hope, but the people who pay attention know better. The hate and vitriol spewed forth by the media, the Democratic backed 527s (ex: Moveon.org), and the Michael Moore crowd more than balance Zell's paultry speech. The reason dems are so mad about it is because one of their own pulled the sheet of the party for all to see. And it worked. So when someone at a campaign stump heckles Kerry, he tells them to shut up, gets angry. When someone heckles Bush, he either praises free speech, or simply remains silent (as he did a few times curing his speech) it while security handles the problem. Now who has more class? No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
