  1. Kirrz: See the thread http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1734651;search_string=parents%20found%20out;#1734651 when my parents found out. It happens. They've since gotten over it, and not only that, came out to watch one day. See the photo http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=54014; It gets better. Give them time to realize you love it, then they'll eventually come out and watch, and then they'll eventually get over it. They'll never love it, but they'll realize you're their daughter, and they love you more than they want to disown you. It'll all be good. :) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 2. It's on my bio that gets shown when I speak at events, trade shows, etc. It always gets the most questions. Also, the big yellow "SKYDIVE" sticker on my laptop might have something to do with it, also. Finally, I work in an industry where the most creative guy wins. Skydivers are quite creative, I've found... _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

    flu

OK, let's not scare the child. It's VERY doubtful that it's bird flu. There's more of a chance of me learning to swoop than it being bird flu. That said, 10 days IS on the long side for the Flu, especially if it was "gone but then came back," as you say. It can't hurt to check yourself out with a doctor - it could be a really nasty flu, but it could also be a sign of something else - a viral infection or something similar. So be on the safe side - go get it checked out. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  8. Apparently, I'm in it, the entire page, holding my laptop with a USPA sticket, a Skydive The Ranch Skydiving guy sticker, and a Neptune sticker. If someone has it, PM me, and I'll send you my address and paypal you for postage. Thanks! :) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

  10. QuoteI know that this is a rediculous song, but it has been stuck in my head ever since i saw legend the movie for the first time, that was a long ass time ago, and i still love it, where you when you first asked yourself, "are you gonna drop the bomb or not?" You should iTunes "Big in Japan" by them. Total blast from the past. :) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  11. Second most high-paying client, late by FOUR MONTHS, finally gave me a check today for EVERYTHING. Only reason I let them slide as much as I did was because I trusted them. WOO!!! 12. It's actually 26.2. :) It was originally something like 22.4, then they extended it in Europe so the Queen could watch it, and poof, we got 26.2. That's why at mile 22.4, you're supposed to shout out "God Save the Queen!" 11-'thon veteran. Ow. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  13. Then explain how 36,000 runners crossing over the Verazanno bridge in NYC during the marathon all at once don't even make the bridge wobble a little bit? _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  14. My trainer took me to the park this morning and made me do 12 100-yard sprints at max speed. That doesn't sound like much. But try it. I can't feel my calves this morning. No. Seriously. Welcome home, anyway, Woodpecker! :) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  15. Want some good stickers for my Bonehead helmet... Thinking Homer type stickers, or maybe some other fun stuff... Can't find anything good. Any ideas? _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  16. Growing up in NYC teaches you to a) always lock your doors, and b) never leave anything inside. When I go visit friends, they break their hands trying to open my doors. They can't understand why I'd ever lock my car doors. I shake my head and sigh. Sorry, Mags - that sucks. :-( Hope they find your stuff, and have the person who did it have to wear a sign for the rest of his life. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 17. Bump - I love this topic. Just killed 20 minutes of my day. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  18. Dan, I hate you on principle. :-P No, I don't really, but it just kills me - I could work out until literally, my arm fell off and my legs rotted away - and I'd still never be at the same body fat ratio you are. do you only eat protein or something, or is it (and I'm sad to say, I think it is...) just something you were born with? A blast furnace for a metabolism? Sigh. A boy can dream... _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  19. So I was being killed by my Satan Trainer this morning, and I started thinking... How in shape are we as a skydiving community? I mean, when you think about it - "Sports" as a whole, is something involving you being in somewhat decent shape. You run, you need to be in shape enough to carry your mass from point A to point B in a time range set. You swim, same thing. You bike, same thing. Hell, even speed walking or power walking - same thing. Basketball, baseball, football, soccer, etc... They all involve a level of fitness to be considered "decent" or "good" at the sport, right? If I were 300 pounds and subsisted on Doritos and Pepsi, I wouldn't be so good at football. But - I could still skydive, right? And I could be really good at it! So how fit are we? As a sport, in general. Do we work out? Do we care? Do we do it to feel better, look better, get laid more? (Hell, that's why I lost a ton of weight in the first place.) Finally, do we work out/get in shape to be a better skydiver? If so, how? Core, I'm guessing, would be most important - good abs, back, etc. For RW, Freeflying, right? I mean, you don't need 18-inch biceps to pull... Just a thought. Would love to hear comments, thoughts. What else do we do physically other than skydiving? Running? Anyone ever done marathons? Triathlons? I'll start - I've completed a bunch of marathons and triathlons, run a bunch of races... All for sanity - the more I run, I find, the less other crap stresses me out. Same thing with skydiving. Irony of all this is, I'm not hottest/buffest person on the drop zone, by far. My motto is, "I don't run really fast, I just have an incredibly high tolerance for pain." Anyone else? ntrprnr PS: Moderators: If you think this should be better posted somewhere else, my apologies, and feel free! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 20. Mom actually told me she couldn't support something that I could kill myself doing. Then she came out and watched my first tip-toe landing, gave me the biggest hug in the world, and smiled. She still doesn't love it, but she accepts it. And she tells all her friends about it. Dad sided with mom on this one, but secretly, I think he loves that I do it. :) Photo: Mom hugging me after my landing. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 21. Forgetting to turn your Cypres on while still on the ground while still on student status = ride down. Feh. Never done that again. :) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  22. Simple. Go to a nutritionist, who will put you on a diet to match your height/weight. You don't want to eat once a day, you want to eat at least five times a day, if not more. See a nutritionist. Seriously. Helped me. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  23. Just thought this might be amusing. (seeing how's it's RAINING. AGAIN.) On October 22nd, in 1797, French balloonist Andre-Jacques Garnerin made the first parachute descent, landing safely from a height of about 3,000 feet. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 24. Posted the question to get the knowledge of others - others who have jumped or not jumped with sore muscles. I'm going to take the drive out there - I've driven out there and not jumped more than once - bad weather, winds too high for my liking, etc. If I go out there and feel like crap, I won't jump. I was just curious as to other people's responses to the situation. It's information I can take under advisement when I'm standing on the field wondering weighing all the options as to whether I should manifest myself or not. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 25. Yeah - I guess the issue for me is, it's not an injury - soreness from a hard workout is different than say, a muscle strain or tear... I'm gonna go tomorrow and see how I feel when I get to the DZ. If I'm not feeling 100%, I won't jump. Easy enough. Thanks, guys. :) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?"
