  1. Hey gang... Stupid question... Let's say I have a new personal trainer. We'll call her, oh, I don't know... Satan. Now let's say Satan spent all morning with me working on my shoulders and biceps. Let's say I wake up tomorrow and realize that it's one of the last, nice, not-too-cold days in the NY area, and I want to jump. Assuming I put my rig on and do a practice touch, the soreness won't stop me from pulling, will it? It'll just be sore - I guess what I'm asking is... Muscle soreness doesn't limit range of motion, does it? _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  2. I agree... But you know what? I'm sick of it. Getting laid is fun - no doubt... But... I dunno. It's... dare I say... empty? I know - I never thought I'd be saying this, either. I should be all over the whole single guy who looks damn good in a tux with tons of drunk bridesmaids around... But... I dunno. I'm just kinda over it. I'd kinda like to be the guy getting married, you know? At least that way, I dunno - maybe it's not so damn empty. Eh. such is life. Big smile. BIG SMILE! Heh. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  3. I love my friend, I really do - I'm the best man at his wedding tomorrow. But seriously - can we just talk for a SECOND about how GD SICK I AM OF GOING TO WEDDINGS SINGLE? Let alone everyone going, "so when are YOU" getting married? I'm trying to come up with new lines to respond. "Well, ma'am, that means I'd have to move and re-register as a bestiality offender - it's just not worth it. More shrimp?" But seriously - Ugh. With that said, He's been my best friend since high school - 18 years... So of course I'd do it. And I'll be wonderful, and make a great speech, and all will be well. But I've been to 5 weddings this summer. I'm just soover it. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

  7. Shadow: Call the three credit bureaus, let them know you lost your wallet, and have a FRAUD ALERT put on your account for the next six months. Then call again and redo it. It sucks to say, but you'll have to have fraud alerts on your accounts for the next 14 years - 7 years from time of loss, plus seven after loss - stuff drops off credit report after 7 years, you need twice that to make sure you're not frauded. ID Theft is rampant. Homoless can sell a driver's license for $20 and a bottle, and your credit is ruined for years. Be really careful. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 8. Nature, Mother The Sky Planet Earth 14 October, 2005 Dear Ms. Nature: It is with professional regret that I write this letter, as I was hoping we could solve this without having to take this issue to this level. As you are well aware, I, and man of my fellow skydivers on the East Coast, have been unable to skydive for at least eight days now. This is totally and completely due to your efforts (or lackthereof,) and despite numerous attempts to rectify the situation (praying, sun dances, and the like) you've shown no signs of changing your current style of doing things. Please understand, this is not a personal attack on you. In fact, I've been very impressed with you in the past. I've lost count of the terrific suntans you've given me, not to mention numerous full moons of which I've taken advantage of on several occasions, using them as lures to kiss unsuspecting women under the guise of, "there's a full moon - let's go look at it!" But lately, well, you've just been falling down on the job. With you, it seems to be either all or nothing. either sun, sun, sun, and 120 degrees, or enough rain to that heading to work this morning, I saw an older man with a beard loading pairs of animals onto a boat. I'm sorry it had to come to this, as I said. But I can't simply sit here and let my skydiving career, and the skydiving career of thousands of my colleagues, suffer due to your inability to act like a professional. In closing, I'm prepared to offer you one more chance. As you may know by the happy dance I performed last Friday, I just recently got a new skydiving rig. My offer is this: Next weekend - The Ranch, in Gardiner, NY, needs to be sunny, dry,and bright. If it is, I'm willing to forget this ugly incident ever took place. If it's not, however, you can expect a much more formal letter from my attorneys, and the immediate legal action to follow. Regards, ntrprpr PS: So you understand that I'm just upset at this breakdown, and not your work ethic, I must again compliment you on your Northern Lights display of a few months ago. Terrific visuals - I've recommended your work to many of my colleagues based on that display alone. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

  12. I was at the door of the plane the other day, getting ready to board. I was watching the trees, and other canopies come in for landing... I scratched myself off the load. Everyone else went up, and they all came down fine. But for me, the winds just felt a little too heavy. Gotta tell you, I think it took more guts for me to scratch than to jump normally. Walking back to the tent, I swore everyone was watching me. Then one of the "pros" (guy with thousands of jumps) said to me, "winds a little weird today, huh? You made the right decision." I then felt much better. Only person you have to answer to for scratching yourself off a load because of conditions, is you. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" 13. Thanks all, for the answers! Very helpful. One more question - What about packers? If I packed my own gear, I'd get about 2 jumps in the entire week... Do they have enough packers to handle all the jumpers? Thanks! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  14. Since I started jumping in May I've had at least five skydiving dreams. Never a mal in the dream, but ALWAYS a really slow snivel, a cut-away, and then an attempted PLF. Of course, last week I dreamed that I got shot five times, and I vividly remember the bullets going into my body and thinking "as long as you keep moving, you won't be paralyzed from the bullets." We're all weirdos. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  15. Hey gang... Examining my options for the week between Xmas and New Year's, (because it's freaking pouring and I just got my gear and it's sitting here looking at me going "why can't we jump?" and I have to explain to it that it's raining...) Would love to go to a holiday boogie somewhere, burn a few frequent flier miles... But I have some questions. Forgive me if they sound incredibly stupid... 1) I'm still majorly learning. I like to think I'm safe, but I'm certainly not (with 49 jumps) at the point where I can give others advice... So I usually keep quiet and try to learn. Is it cool to attend a boogie where I'll be in the presence of people with thousands of skydives? I just want to go, meet cool people, jump, and have a good time - is it ok that I'm not great yet, and don't stand up all my landings? From some of the videos I've seen on skydivingmovies.com, the majority of the boogie attendees look really, really good. 2) People just... what? Bring tents and crash on the drop zone? I wouldn't mind, it sounds like fun - but is that just what people do? And they just jump all day, party all night, and crawl into their tents, to do it again the next morning? Again, sounds cool, just trying to figure it out. 3) Do most people just fly to the boogies then rent a car to get to the DZ? Seems like a waste to just keep a rental car parked there for 5 days or whatever... But I guess it's a good place to store your gear when you're not jumping. I probably have about a thousand other questions, but figured I'd start with those... Of course, the most obvious, which boogie to go to, but that probably has as many different answers for as many people as are on DZ.com. Thanks, guys! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

  19. Prelim: My rigger already told me it's ok, and I trust him - just curious as to other thoughts... My rig arrived - an Infinity custom built for me. Built for a 209/210. I've been jumping the Saffire 2 229, and am just not 100% sure I'm ready for downsize yet. Rigger said it's totally not a problem to put the 229 in that. It'll close a little tighter, but shouldn't pose any problems at all. Just curious as to other thoughts. Again - I trust my rigger - just asking. Thanks. :) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  20. Whoa Nelly! That's a virtual {{SLAP!}} on the wrist for ya. If that RSL doesn't work soon, you'll have to find the reserve handle?] Man, oh man, I couldn't agree more. My logic has always been, if I ever have to chop, that chop is the firing gun to the race between my hands and the RSL to see which one can deploy my reserve first. Makes sense, no? _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
  21. That logic could also say, "why travel to look at things? A building is a building, a forest is a forest, a bridge is a bridge, etc... 24. Here's a few. I love my 300 F2.8 lens. I knew I would find a reason to use it when I bought it a few years ago. Especially since the winds were too high all morning and most of the afternoon.
