  1. Yea, sorry mate it's me getting confused with all the talk about the SOS system.
  2. No matter what the disagreement is... your girlfriend is always right
  3. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=270299;page=3;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25; I'm not giving advice cos I'm in no way at all experienced enough, I just remember reading that post a while back and thought it might interest you in this debate. EDIT: I don't know how to link it to a specific post on the page, but it's the 3rd one down.
  4. http://www.robnik.com/SapColor11.htm On that link is the pic I've linked below... to me that looks pretty yellow as a pose to the galaxy's golden yellow. If that is a true representation of the sapphire yellow, which I hope it is because it came from Robnik's website then I think I'll order one of those instead... you know I always thought the FT-50 and the sapphire were the same until now!
  5. Does anyone have a picture of a yellow FT 50 altimeter that they could post on here or send me? I like the idea of a yellow altimeter but I saw the Galaxy in yellow and its more of a gold, and I don't really like it... is the FT 50 'yellow' more of a real yellow!? Or another gold?
  6. He dispatched me on a 10 second freefall on the anniversary, was really cool, we were waiting for the plane by the runway and he just came out with that it was his 40th anniversary today. Congrats.
  7. What is the normal procedure for paying for new custom gear. Do you pay the whole lot up front to initiate the order, or half up front to initiate the order and half on delivery or payments during the waiting process or what?
  8. So why would you want it on the bottom flap.... surely its advantageous to have it in the pack tray if you can get a wider range of pack volumes while maintaining a tight closing loop?
  9. Its an option on the wings, new to the sport and just wondering what it is and how it differs from standard, advantages and disadvantages of having it. cheers.
  10. IMHO, a belly band doesn't look uncool. I added one onto a couple of pics using that crappy paint program that comes with windows, albeit it quite badly, but it didn't make me think boy thats uncool. If having a belly band on every rig saved even one life wouldn't it be worth it?
  11. EDIT: IGNORE this topic, I worked out how to do it.
  12. So do hip rings make it more likely... not neccessarily mean that you will be able to... but give a greater chance that you will be able to get out of the rig?
  13. So can it be got around on any rig with a bit of work for a rigger? Or is the only way to avoid it to get a custom fitted new rig... but even then some people have said that they can get out of theirs and it was custom made for them. Somewhere here I saw about rigs with longer main lift webbing have more of a problem... which rigs are those, or does the MLW depend on how you are measured for the rig or the size of the rig, because I'm sure that the article linked either here or in the other thread said that with bigger rigs it is less of a problem. What size rigs is it that you guys have been able to get out of? Cheers guys.
  14. What are the improvements in the cypress 2 upon the cypress 1? What are the main differences between the two?
  15. I've dropped my ipod from about 6 feet twice onto a concrete floor by accident, and I was like holy shit thats money down the drain now, only to pick it up and find it was completely undamaged and worked fine. So yea they are definitely durable, if you only have 500 songs it's probably not worth it though... unless you plan on building that collection extensively in the near future. But I don't have any problems with itunes, I have about 4000 songs atm and its all good. I don't really understand what all the fuss is about! You'r probably best with a cheaper 1gb player though with your collection.
  16. Whats the best practical jokes you've played? I just heard this one which I thought was quite good, it was a university open day where the prospective students go have a look around. One person involved was the tour guide and another pretended to be a prospective student in the tour group, when they got to a certain point on the tour, a car would screech to a stop next to the group and 5 guys wearing all black with black ski masks would jump out shouting and grab the guy pretending to be a prospective student kicking and screaming, throw him in the boot, and drive off smoking the tyres. The tour guide would just shrug and say, you find it always happens once every so often, chances are it won't be you don't worry about and carry on with the tour as if it was an everyday thing, leaving the prospective students very anxious!
  17. Do people know what dropzones are close to ski resorts (within about an hour), especially in europe, but also North America and Canada aswell? If so which dropzone and which resort is it close to? It would be helpful if there was a map for the european dzs, like there is for the english ones in the back of the skydive mag. Anyone know if there is such a map, im struggling to work out how far dzs are from places from the dropzones tab on this site, just getting addresses which from another country don't mean a lot to me. cheers
  18. Doubt it, you'd have to be able to get a huge number of people to visit it somehow, and it would have to be the kind of people who are gonna give a dollar to a site like that, i don't know a lot about websites or how you'd go about creating that kind of audience without costly advertising, maybe you could do it though, you never know.... your site could be one of those ones... the ones you hear about. I heard a site once, where a guy had a picture of his rabbit and was fattening it up for christmas or easter or something and if people donated money that amounted to 50,000 or something similar he would save it. He got a ridiculous amount of money from it, but not enough and he ate it anyway!
  19. What should I look for when buying an altimeter 2nd hand? Should I really get a new one for piece of mind? I'm looking at an Altimaster 3 made in 97 with close to 500 jumps... I'm thinking it would be OK, I just wanted to check if there is anything I should know that might mean I'll have to replace it soon or whatever.... cheers guys.
  20. I'm a student on the RAPs course in the UK, have done 8 jumps so far, including 2 successfull 5 second freefalls, on two seperate occasions. My last jump was 17 June, so just over a week ago, was hoping to go and do my first 10 second freefall tomorrow, but it's looking like I'm not going to be able to... which means the 1st opportunity I'm gonna get is probably going to be 30 June, so thats 13 days between jumps. How likely is it I'll get dropped back to DRPs or 5 second freefalls and not be able to do the 10 sec delay straight away with that sort of time gap? Cheers

    GTA San Andreas

...sounds good but how do you do that?
  22. Does anyone know what the rates are for BPA membership, I'm new to the sport and I know that for a full membership for the whole year it is about £100.... but when does the membership start and finish? Is it April? Because my instructor told me that the cost goes down as the year progresses and you have less time you need it for before renewal kind of thing..... so if you joined halfway through the membership year it would only be £50 say? I've tried searching through the BPA website, but it doesn't even tell you the cost of a full membership on there let alone if the price falls as the membership year goes on.... Just wondered cos I could be making my first freefall this week, been on S/L so far and I'll have to upgrade it to full membership if i do.... wondering what it's gonna hit me for!
  23. 18... a couple of weeks ago. I'm the youngest starter so far
  24. This probably seems like a really silly question, but I've seen it posted around here a few times reading a few posts, what does it stand for?
