  1. So are open corners on both main and reserve trays, or just main tray?
  2. So if you were using a wingsuit every so often, but also doing other disciplines, should you not be using a rig with open corners for the non wingsuit jumps? Also I originally thought when it said open corners it meant open corners on the main pack tray only, am I wrong is it both main and reserve or soley reserve?
  3. I was reading on the Birdman website, that they reccomend using a rig with open corners when jumping a wingsuit such as the modified for birdman use wings rig, and that this allows the bag to leave the container freely and stop line twists. What specifically are open corners? What are the drawbacks of open corners on rigs? I'm guessing there must be some or why wouldn't every rig have open corners to reduce the chances of line twists. If you have a rig with these so called 'open corners' does it make, I don't know, freeflying, in certain body positions more dangerous, skysurfing. Is it incompatible if you like with any other discipline. What rigs have open corners other than the birdman modified wings? And can you tell from looking at the rig if it has open corners, does it change visually ther way the rig looks?
  4. Yes you do really have to have your B license, it is not however 200 jumps. It is 50 jumps + the new CH2 (canopy handling 2) qualification, and JM1 qualification.
  5. Ok cool, thankyou.... thats the kind of answer I was hoping to hear.
  6. What's involved in shortening the legstraps/pads(i'm not sure which, I just want the legstraps to be a lot more snug and tight than they currently are.... how much is it likely to cost? Is it a factory job or rigger or master rigger?
  7. If you saw a brilliant 2nd hand rig, everything you wanted in it, great size but the container had crazy colours, would it put you off buying the rig? Such as 3 or 4 colours mixed into a big tye die all over the rig. I'm mainly thinking along the lines of would it make the rig much harder to sell when donsizing?

    GTA:London

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it is true. If you think about it, it does make sense. GTA liberty city, Vice city and san andreas.... were all islands on the original game. GTA london was the next possible 'island' or 'area' wasn't it? My friend guessed the 3rd one for the PS2 would be San Andreas while Vice city was out, because of the island naming system from the original game.
  9. Without wanting to hijack your thread, but I probably am (sorry!!!), what do you guys think, having not seen me fly, (and yes I will be talking to my instructors and others at my dropzone tomorrow to get more opinions,) of loading a reserve at about 1.06-1.1 (my weight varies by 3 or 4 pounds every few weeks) after 30 jumps. The main I'd be jumping is a 170 loaded at 0.94-0.97. Therefore the reserve would be a 170, I haven't comitted to any of this yet, and if people think it's a bad idea I'll go another route, but if I did go this route, it would be useful because the container is made for a 150, but has had a 170 and a 135 in it safely before, so starting with a 170 it will last me a long, long time. The reserve would be a Micro Raven 150. Like I said, I'm talking to more people. I just wanted to get as many opinions as I can.... and the instuctors at my dz will be the ones I trust.
  10. If the reserve needs a repack anyway, and I wanted a cypress installed how much extra, roughly would a rigger charge for installing the cypress at the same time. I will ask my local rigger next time I'm down at the DZ, just wanted a quick answer as I'm not there till the weekend now. Obviously his prices will be slightly different, but it will give me a rough idea, especially if I know how much he charges for a standard repack.
  11. Ok cool, cheers guys. But putting a 150 in a J3 shouldn't be too much of a problem?
  12. For single songs, shareaza, play on the world kazaa, it has no connection to kazaa though. It also has no spyware, and it's worked fine on my machine for over a year. I think it somehow, looks through loads of other p2p programs without actually using them, such as Gnutella, endonkey and limewire. Its been one of the best programs I've had for not coming up blank on a search, but even it can't find some of the really really rare stuff. For whole albums I'd use bittorrent if possible, its way easier. Download a client like bittornado (the one I use) or Azureus. Then you can visit sites such as www.isohunt.com, www.mininova.org, www.torrentspy.com, www.torrentz.com and searhc for torrents. If you don't know about bittorent, what you basically do, is go to one of these sites and download an 'instruction file' thats about 30kb usually. If you searched for say Radiohead - OK computer, and downloaded a torrent (or instruction file for that album) what you do, is then open your bittorrent client, which is a program that can read the instruction file, feed in the torrent file, and that will download the whole album and organise it song name by name. All you have to do is feed the 1 file in, rather than search for 13 or 14 individual files. Bittorrent is also the best way to download movies and TV shows i find.
  13. What size mains can a javelin odyssey j4 size container take safely? Maybe I'm just being retarded but I couldn't find it on the Javelin website.
  14. No doubt I know way way less than you, but surely thats got to be wrong? I've never heard anyone get reccomended a 280 or the like as a first canopy by their instructors? Unless they have a very very high exit weight. I'm jumping a 280 at the moment, and my instructors told me I should be looking at buying a 170 with my weight and my skills under canopy. Maybe you mean, if he were to buy it and jump it the next jump?
  15. Get my A unless I get it by the end of 2005 tomorrow! I need 2 jumps. Other than that, -Make around 130 jumps... to take my total to about 150. -Buy my own rig. -Get my FS1. -Jump a helicopter.
  16. I did have a cold, but am in the pretty much recovered stage now, ie -no blocked nose, no sore throat etc, I just have a bit of a runny nose. It isn't going to hurt me if I jump in this condition is it?
  17. I would be able to try the rig on... but probably not jump it... but I'm not really sure what I would be looking for... the only rigs I've ever used before are the student hire rigs at our dropzone, which I'm sure must fit badly! I do the legstraps up as tight as they go and I always feel I'd like them a little tighter. Thanks for your advice and I will look into that formula. What should I be looking for when trying it on... how snug should it be in what places etc? I'm also guessing there is going to be some sort of compromise with the fit when buying second hand, it is not going to be like having your own brand new custom gear, otherwise you'd never buy a rig right... but how much of a compromise?
  18. Hey up, I sent you a PM, but thinking about it you probably want to know some more specific measurements.... how do people think a rig made for 6'0" 165lbs sounds in comparison to me? ... its a TSE teardrop SF.
  19. I'm 6'0" and weigh 143 lb. I'm looking into buying my 1st rig now, and am aware that for the harness it is made to fit people of certain heights, but how much does weight come into it... what if the harness was made for someone 40lb heavier? Is it going to mean its going to be loose on me... or is it something that I'm likely going to have to deal with when buying my first rig second hand?
  20. I may just be dreaming this, but I'm pretty sure in the other thread about this he actually said that was what he said to them, because that is what he thinks about when he's jumping.
  21. Skydiving is an extreme sport, it is one where you can do everything right and get hurt, whether it be due to someone else being careless or equipment issues. In addition, no matter how infetissally small it is, there is always the possibility of a malfunction on main and reserve. Tbh with you, I personally think the only way to get your parents to start coming round is keep jumping. My parents aren't over the moon about me jumping, they'd never put any money towards anything skydiving related, but they are warming to it a bit more now, and no doubt as my jump numbers increase they're attitudes will warm more.
  22. It's the altitrack from Larsen and Brusgaard (sp).... same people who make the protrack, I think it's basically got the same features as a protracka nd maybe a few more but with a digital face in an analogue style! It's not out in the UK yet, till after christmas I think but I don't know about the US.
  23. Where can I get hold of Exit by Bruno Bokken, I'm in the UK but don't mind getting it from a US shop, I just want to get it in the next couple of weeks cos it's for a prize? It doesn't seem too hard to get hold of Eyes In The Sky but I'm having trouble finding somewhere with Exit...
  24. Which out of these two, Eyes In The Sky by Patrick Passe or Exit By Bruno Bokken is the better book in your opinion? Which conveys the beauty of the sport better, which amazes you more?
