Jeff what makes this suit more suitable for BASE? Was it designed for BASE and just happens to be a good flocking suit? What design specification make it your BASE suit? Who is currently using it in the BASE environment?

Here is a great company that sells digital camera's and external hard drives that is skydiver/BASE jumper owned. I stopped using B & H and went to these guys supporting their bad habits!!! Great support and knowledge. Tony Hathaway and Laszlo Andacs uses them for ink paper and stuff. www.dtgweb.com

This is why I never really loved my katana. I just don't think its meant to be loaded at 2.0 or higher. I was just over that and it always crapped out in the end and had bad openings. Not a reason to go to a velo like I did but my velo opens 100 times better than my Kat and the low end crushes it!!! Now I have hear different things about the crossfire. In hind site I would have taken my PD blinders off and tried the crossfire and mamba. Now with my velo I put my PD blinders back on!!!!!

Buy the Sabre you will have a hell of a time selling a Katana 170. Spend some jumps on that.

Concur. There is a guy named Pip at Z-hills who can make a Sabre or Sabre 2 look like the best swooping machine you could want. Pip is a horrible example. Now you cant argue with his 8000000 jumps however, he toggle wips his Sabre1 at about 300 feet. If it was anyone else it would scare the shit out of me everytime he does his 180.

I am pretty freaking sure that is Robi flying and if so he is alive and well and will be at Flock n Dock this spring. He also did a great talk on terrain flying at B Day 07. So no worries no one went it!

I sold my Katana right when they went to the HMA line set. In fact my rigger tried to get PD to switch the lines for me and they said no. The lines are in trim enough. It worked out for them they got a brand new velo sell. I am saying beyond a shadow of a doubt MY velo 103 is a more stable, better opening, better flying canopy than MY katana 107. Thats not saying people are not jumping the hell out of Katana's and loving them and getting great openings. Just my experience. I love PD canopies and have owned 3 of them all bought brand new. However, I would give a harder look at a crossfire2 if I was not looking to go cross brace.

Might I suggest from some of the other fnd's I have seen is there are alot of different levels of ability. The low number flyers seem to get left out and are not as agressive about getting included. Depending on whom is getting the organizer slots possibly they can take turns doing smaller flocks with some of the low time guys and possibly getting a list of them etc. Rob and Kath get jump numbers as part of registration so it would be easy to find who these people are and make sure they too get involved. Just a suggestion.

You can email Robert but he had it at Bridgeday. If I remember what he told me its the same buckle they use in paragliding. What he said the buckle itself has more strength than your normal friction type buckle. Of course Robert had exact numbers when he told me but its BD and I dont remember much during that event. Needless to say its not standard.
