  1. I'm in. Never done a balloon jump before! How much altitude do you get? ... Marion
  2. I also bought the Dolphin package from Rigs 'n Things. I upgraded the main and reserve and ended up with a nice rig. I am a newbie and it is my first rig, but I am extremely happy with it. I got some sh*t about buying a Dolphin from some people, but one of the instructors uses one and I figured if it is good enough for him... I totally agree that the customer service from Roy at Rigs 'n Things is first rate. He went out of his way to keep his customer (me) happy. ... Marion
  3. What about Skydive Tennessee? The following info is given about them on this web site... Warren County Memorial Airport (KRNC) Lat: 35.6987094 Lng: -85.8438172 Address: 643 Alexandria Hwy. Alexandria, Tennessee 37012 United States Are they open? ... Marion
  4. I am visiting Nashville soon and was looking for a nearby DZ to jump at. On Dropzone.com there is a DZ listed east of Nashville in Alexandria. However, I can't get their web site to open or their phone to answer. Does anyone know if they are in operation? Are there other DZ's near Nashville that anyone would recommend (hopefully with turbine aircraft)? ... Marion
  5. I am considering buying either a used Bonehead Mamba or a used Parasport Z1. I haven't seen any reviews on the Mamba. I would love to hear your opinions on either helmet. Thanks in advance... ... Marion
  6. I jump at Skydive Monroe. It is to the East of Atlanta. Very friendly but professional. Nice mix of belly flyers and free flyers. They use a Beech 99. It gets to 13,500 in about 12 minutes. Come join us ! ... Marion
  7. I did it at 54 in February and am having a blast. There are a lot of guys at my DZ who are over 40, one regular jumper is over 60. ... Marion
  8. I am barely more experience than you are. I just took Scott Miller's Canopy Control class and highly recommend it. In the meantime just jump a lot, make relationships with other skydivers, and jump with them. Have a new goal, obtaining your "B" license. ... Marion
  9. Lets face it, it's not cheap. I bet the expense is the biggest reason more people don't follow through. ... Marion
  10. I just got my first rig. One of the biggest things I noticed was how comfortable the harness/container was when under canopy. ... Marion
  11. Finally ! After 3 or 4 more attempts during which I messed things up to the point I had to start over; I got the canopy in the deployment bag. Thanks for everyone's help. Geez ! I am soaked in sweat and exhausted. I hope this gets easier. ... Marion
  12. I will give that a try tonight. If it is moist and sits that way for a few days is that a problem. Does it affect the opening? ... Marion
  13. So you are saying spray the canopy, get it damp, and it will then be easier to handle? Why distilled H20? Should I be concerned about getting my sweat on it as I have struggled with it? ... Marion
  14. My brand new ZP canopy has totally whipped my ass. I cannot get it in the D bag. I know it can be done. I have six jumps on it and have had people pack it for me. Sunday two people worked with me and I thought I would be able to do it. Last night in my air conditioned home I pulled it out tried many times and COULD NOT pack it. Very frustrating and tired today with only 3 hours of sleep. How long will it be before it is easier to pack? Any tips or tricks on how to get it in the bag would be appreciated. ... Marion

  16. Skydive Monroe uses a Beach 99. Gets to 13,500 in about 10 minutes. It is in Monroe, which is East of Atlanta. It is a great place with friendly people. I highly recommend it. ... Marion
  17. If someone goes low on a formation and will not be able to get back in; does he stick around where the others can see him until the predetermined time to break; or does he go ahead and track away early and get out of their hair? Recently I have heard conflicting answers to this question from people I highly respect. ... Marion
  18. I'm 54 years old and I just got my "A" license. I just wish I had started years earlier. Welcome to the sport. ... Marion
  19. Correction... Skydive space center! The reason I am not considering Deland is because that is where I will be jumping the day before (taking a canopy control course). I thought I would experience a different DZ the Sunday before returning. A ride to 18K at Skydive space center sounds fun, but I have heard of Z-hills for many years. ... Marion
  20. I am from Georgia, and will be in the Daytona Beach Florida area for one weekend at the end of August. I plan to either jump at Spaceland or Z-hills. I am a low-time jumper with an "A" license. Which place would you recommend I go to? ... Marion
  21. If you have relatives near Perris, then you should consider Elsinore as well. Elsinore and Perris are just a few miles apart. My experience is quite limited, but I sure loved my visit to Elsinore. ... Marion
  22. Excellent post ! Thanks for the info. ... Marion
  23. I am travling to another DZ for a weekend and am considering saving hotel money and staying in their dropzone bunkhouse. I know it probably varies from place to place but generally what is it like? Is there usually a place to secure your stuff while you are away? ... Marion
  24. I have never been to a tunnel before. I am going to Deland in a few weeks to take a canopy control class and thought since I was in the area I should go to Orlando and get some tunnel time. Looking at the web page the prices seem very high. What is the best (cheapest) way to drop in and spend time in the tunnel? And get the most of it? ... Marion
