  1. Some do, some don't - I did for my femur injury but not for my tib/fib (I'm a little accident prone ); I would recommend you go entirely on your doctor's advice, although the 'if it bothers you' rule of thumb is also probably a good one. +1 re doctor's advice on removal...and on when you can go back. I waited till doc said I was ok, never had an issue with the plate (also tib/fib). The doctor did say that if the plate ever became an issue could think about having it removed (so far 5 1/2 years and no issue), BUT he did also warn it can be quite complicated to remove it. (fyi I also had a screw in my ankle, that got removed, but mainly because it started removing itself) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  2. Just another example of the fact that you can look in the right area for a long time and still not find what you are looking for...(remember we had a discussion about how long it took to find Steve Fosset's plane?) The wreckage was discovered by chance in 1988. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Dust_(aircraft) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  3. Once agan Jo decides there are different standards for her and everyone else. What is the difference between a book and any other public forum? You got incredibly upset with people pointing out particular aspects of Duane's past which you claimed were not relevant and you didn't want to talk about! What does someone's alleged drug problem have to do with finding Cooper? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  4. Honestly. Georger said as plain as day that the only silver found was from the silver nitrate the FBI used to get fingerprints. What about that did you not understand? Authors do get things wrong Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  5. Sluggo's website says: But I've never heard anything about hair actually being found on it....? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  6. {bang! bang! bang!} ...that's the sound of 377 hitting his head against a brick wall. (reading Jo's response to his post!) Jo is taking the high road less and less often, btw, and not just with Jerry. It's almost becoming a standard response to anyone who disagrees with her. (Georger gets accused of being a drunk, I get accused of being a bad mom, etc ....) I guess it's stress and desperation, and every new suspect who - at least till they are ruled out - raises the possibility of Duane not being Cooper worsens it. The catch for Jo is that anything that others might definitively be ruled out on, has ruled out Duane too. And back to talking of actual evidence, anyone got any comments on the supposed hair fibres? 7. Exactly what I was thinking! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  8. I'm in 2 minds as to whether this is an apology or another attempt at humor ("fine community"?!). However will give you benefit of the doubt ...posts do get mean spirited here sometimes....but you'll find the long time posters do defend each other when they feel a need. As you have already noted - best thing to do with the posters you feel waste space is just ignore them. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  9. Uh, no jesting here. People have different senses of humour. I don't get the crass stuff that makes millions and millions for hollywood. I get Clarkson and Farflung. As for Cooper, well .... Even some of the stuff here that is supposedly about Cooper has nothing at all to do with the ACTUAL Cooper. Anyway after how ever many thousand posts now, I think we are entitled to some distraction now and then. And Vicki is correct, it is Ms Orange. Tarantino turned me down because he didn't think the audience would buy a sweet looking girl cutting off someone's ear. (I think he was wrong.) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  10. Disagree. I love farflung's posts, and I reckon he could make money out of his writing. Not a huge Kinky fan personally to be honest. I'd rather compare farflung to Jeremy Clarkson, who you guys may or may not know. In fact farflung's description of his troubles in Holland could just as easily have been penned by Clarkson! Farflung, i have no opinion on your hunkiness, but please keep on with the posts! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  11. "dan Cooper" is such a common sounding name, I see no good reason to assume it is anything other than coincidence. If the name was archibald Andrews, or tintin, or albertus wigglebottom, or bernoldus niemand, then maybe. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  12. Correction: an indeterminate picture that you claim was Tina, with absolutely no basis whatsoever. This is why people lose patience with you. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  13. First, refreshing to hear a positive review. Second, I thought Georger's involvement (and scientist credentials) were obvious over the course of discussions here ... Third I've never heard about the hair fibres or Cossey selling the chutes before the hijacking. (Bruce, I still get irritated at your abbreviations of people's names!) Are the hair fibres the ace up the FBI's sleeve that everyone is convinced about? But why go public with what may or may not be on a tie and not mention this - unless it is not just DNA that is the issue. Unless for example the fibres show the hair was dyed? And if Cossey had sold the chutes how come they were still in his possession? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  14. Ah yes. It does make sense that a line through a right of way sign means NO right of way (though I would expect it to be a thick red bar and not little black lines). Will you be using the train next time you are in Holland then? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  15. Oh, and gerechtsdeurwaarderkantoor.... A Kantoor is an office. A gerechtsdeurwaarder is like a sheriff I think - gerechts is justice, waarder like warden or warder, (someone who looks after) so you were at the office of someone who looks after justice what did you do, exactly, with your cheese to get there....? Dutch, German, Afrikaans all put words together in one rather than the English convention of leaving them separate, when forming a noun. In SA there is a town (supposedly) called tweebuffelsmeteenkoeeldoodgeskietfontein, which means "two buffalos shot dead with one bullet town". Maybe Cooper has been hiding out there? Edit: I got the name a bit wrong. It does actually exist but is a farm not a town: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tweebuffelsmeteenskootmorsdoodgeskietfontein Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  16. I do hope Mr Green and I are the only colors here. I know no-one wants to be Mr Pink. And I would like everyone to keep their ears intact. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  17. Farflung, the yellow diamond on white background is a right of way sign. Never seen one with those black lines through it though, did you add those?! I try never to drive in a foreign country, especially if it is not the UK or Australia (never been down under) because driving on the right confuses me, and because in countries where signs are in local language rather than pictures it is more confusing. Remember sitting on a bus in Spain going past some major detour where all the signs were in Spanish and feeling very grateful we had decided to use public transport rather than renting a car. 18. Ah, it was a combination of knowing the right people and by pure luck being in Amsterdam at the right time. Was formally introduced to the Queen though did not chat much, however did chat a lot to Klaus ( just realized I wrote Philip in previous post! Bad memory, wrong prince!) who was very interesting - he was German and told us all about the anti-German sentiment he had faced after the war. I can't remember what we ate but remember that the waiters wore white gloves. In typical Amsterdam style the ...um, mayor I think it was, who escorted us to the palace arrived on a bicycle! As we didn't have to be checked out by him we were not escorted out; left the palace, got on a tram back to our hotel and remember thinking no-one else on the tram would believe it if we told them where we had just eaten supper Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  19. Ah Farflung, you have me chuckling. Yes renting a trolley is a bit of a surprise; but at least they know they get them back. I love the Dutch personally. Also love visiting Holland because I can understand almost all the signs which always makes life easy! English speakers with no second language cannot pronounce the Germanic G often. I can understand the amusement, much like I was amused to discover the NY expressway is pronounced "van wick" when the correct pronunciation is "fun vake". P.S.: 500g is a lot of cheese! PPS: True fact: Orange1 has met the Queen of the Netherlands (Beatrix) and her late husband Philip, and dined in the Royal Palace in Amsterdam ....many many moons ago. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  20. Now there is a lot of Dutch stuff around the US but I gather not many if anyone actually still speaks (much less even recognises) the old language. (I say this because of the pronunciation of things like Stuyvesant and Van Wyck in NY.) So in the interests of enlightenment I feel compelled to share with you that: 1) Geestman is a Dutch surname; and (the point of this post): 2) it means "Spirit man". Can this be a coincidence? I think not. It must have meaning. Farflung, you have to be able to do something with this, surely?! In the meantime I admit to not having paid enough attention to where Bernie's wife got all the money from. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  21. Except, possibly, Cooper with $194k remaining in 1971 dollars. But until we find either him or the cash we don't know. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  22. The Kerkow motive seems political? = hostages, Algeria giving asylum, ending up in Cuba. Bet they weren't happy about the ransom being returned. Was there any indication what Holder planned for the next hijacking - just money, or some other motive? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  23. Did you not read the post you responded to? There IS a SoL on hijacking, which they got around by formally indicting Cooper even though they do not know his name. This has been discussed here before. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
