  1. Off topic: the video in attached link will show you how dangerous life can be in Africa http://www.news24.com/Multimedia/South-Africa/Cyclist-hit-by-antelope-20111011 Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  2. I think we will all be very relieved if you and Jo do your best to ignore each other's posts
  3. Thanks for relaying the contact lens info, 377... Very interesting. If Quade won't let Snow back I do hope he continues reading and relaying info through you. It does seem a shame that such a useful investigator is banned, but I take Amazon's point too. But maybe a second chance for a repentant sinner.... I also agree with you: crooks don't throw money away. The idea of a plant has never gelled with me either, especially as the case was dying down/had already long done so. Seems to me if you want to hide, bringing the case up to everyone's attention again is pretty dumb. Finally: I also agree that Braden had too much experience to lose the load, although I don't discount that some bundles may have been lost. Different jumping with heavy gear than with little bundles that might get lost if say a flap of your home-made (plane-made) container opens. I still reckon there's a good chance the rest of the money got spent or exchanged, unnoticed, in Asia or Africa Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  4. Yeah, I have read the transcripts and am aware of the above. But Buckshot's quote (my bold): was what interested me. I no longer have the transcripts, but I would be interested to see exactly when the redacted bits happen. None of the theories for redaction so far put forward (not that there have been many) made much sense to me. This would. (Alas, it would also blow up 377's theory about the redactions containing something to identify Cooper with.) Edit: just to be clear, the transcripts are not complete. There are a fair number of sentences/exchanges blacked out. Georger has pointed this out before (in fact, he reminded me of the fact; I had forgotten, but when I went back to check he was right. My copy lost on my old computer ) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  5. I think your memory is faulty on this one, Jo. We did look into it and found they were available back then (I recall this because I was surprised). Not widely, but available. And though they might have been expensive I somehow doubt you would have had to be "very very wealthy" to buy them. Incidentally, soft contact lenses were introduced for sale in 1971. 6. Buckshot...whether or not Braden was Cooper, this info is fascinating, for reasons 377 has explained. I have not heard of CIA being in contact during the Cooper hijacking before. (not having a copy of the FOIA files anymore.... Is it possibly this that was the redacted portion? Your comments about knowing about the 727 test jumps is exactly what 377 surmised...would you say this was fairly widely known among SOG and other elite/special forces in Nam? Would it have been known more widely, do you think? (like 'ordinary' paratroopers?) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  7. y'know... Mad Mike Hoare is still alive, apparently. Bruce, how about finding him and see what he remembers? edit: Um, probably nothing, but this extrct from the Wiki article on him caught my eye - when they were flying back to SA from an attempted coup in the Seychelles in 1978: and this ... wonder who the unnamed Vietnam vet was...?! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  8. Indeed, there must have been many Ted Bradens in SOG Is that him on the ground? Is it just wishful thinking that I think he looks like the sketch? Oh where is Georger who is so good at this .... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  9. Nah. Assuming to take them out before the jump? Doesn't take very long. If he was Braden, would he have been nervous about this jump?? (our one manifest officer always used to give students a first call a few minutes before everyone else, because she knew their first response would be to run to the bathroom....) Braden fits so perfectly, not just in terms of experience, but in terms of not one but two places to comfortably hide out and (effectively) launder the money without being picked up - Asia and Africa. Like I/we said before, no-one was going to "miss" you if you weren't supposed to be around anyway. Damn those blue eyes!! Any more word on Mel's DNA being tested? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  10. Ah yes, eye color re Braden... Well. Didn't we confirm they had colored contact lenses by then, and it is much easier to use lenses to make your eyes appear darker than lighter.... My eyes are blue, but when I wear blue the blue is more intense, and when I wear green then my eyes are green. Seriously. I realise light-colored eyes change much easier than dark, but still. Ok ok so I am clutching at straws....Braden is just so, well, perfect for Cooper in every other way Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  11. I'll miss Georger. In all honesty, I'm not sorry to see Blevins go. The first batch of posts was fine. Then it all got very repetitive, with some PAs on Bruce chucked in. I agree would like to see Snow back. And I will go check out the Braden stuff.... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  12. I don't know who the Seda family is, but hope you got to see plenty game viewing! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  13. Yes, but the lionesses will target the stragglers, so it is often the old, weak or babies who get taken. But they can still do damage to the lionesses. If you've ever watched footage of lioness attacks, it is quite fascinating. I guess it's instinct, but it is akin to a well- executed military plan! I saw aerial footage once of ...I think it was some wild dogs they were after... and the aerial footage showed clearly how they executed a pincer attack on the pack. Incredible stuff. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  14. Incidentally.. I would also put my money on the lions, but there is also a good chance at least one of the lions (or, to be pedantic, lionesses) would get badly hurt in the process. Edit: do a google search for lions vs elephants ...a number of videos on YouTube. I guess I'm spoilt living here. Seen both in the wild a number of times...maybe you guys need to get to Africa, big difference to seeing them in a zoo... On Braden. Those of you who remember some of my argument about a hypothetical Cooper profile will realise I am tickled at the Congo angle. I said it was a great place to disappear along with the dollars...which would be easily spent with no-one checking serial numbers! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  15. Um, maybe a wildlife expert at a zoo is different to a wildlife expert who deals with wildlife in the wild ?! We have plenty of the latter in, um, Africa ...and yes, they all have email too Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  16. Thank you Hank... Very interesting. Very. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  17. Just to prove I can be fair ... Jo, that is the first piece of circumstantial evidence you have provided that interests me. There could be any number of explanations of course, but that would be an interesting example of someone preparing to jump from a plane with a parcel. It is a pity about the date on the magazine though - the original issue containing that would have been more compelling. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  18. Jo...once more will you STOP taking everything personally! There is NOWHERE I accused you of outing anyone, though some might say your response is that of a guilty conscience. I missed the original Georger outing so have no clue who that was. The other person I was referring to was not you. Two kinds of people think everything revolves around them: children and narcissists. I really do not have you pegged as a narcissist but honestly, your "I didn't do that" responses to everything are getting tiresome. The reason I did not name the other person mentioned above is because the reference was too oblique to be sure, and I do not want to accuse people of something they may not have done. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  19. Robert99 brings up a good point: what was in the transcripts that had to be redacted? (and yes I know the redactions have been mentioned before....) Could this have anything to do with 377's theory that the FBI is holding something back? Again, I don't see any issue with them pitching Cooper. He was wearing a parachute. I don't think that's a reason for hiding anything. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  20. No, JT calling you a liar repeatedly is just as irritating. You both sound like 5-year-olds in a schoolyard. "you're a liar!" "no, I'm not, you're the liar" over and over again. Boring, useless, and a waste of bandwidth. However, there is to my mind a subtle difference between JT calling you a liar on things you say here, and you seeming to go out of your way calling Donna to get something on him. What a colossal waste of energy. Back to the crew pitched Cooper theory. Yes that has been spoken about before but I can't see why on earth there is any issue with that.., the guy was standing on the steps of a plane with a parachute on his back, for heaven's sake! I bet every jumper on this thread has seen at least one pilot pitch a static line student who got too nervous to let go. That doesn't count as killing Cooper at all, it just means he exited marginally before he was ready. And if that did happen, then, again, the FBI would have known where to look for clues on his landing, surely.... But can some pilot tell me, because I have only seen this done in a Cessna: how far would you have to pitch a 727 to do that? Would it really be enough to get food all over the cabin?? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  21. Whether or not it's true - WHO CARES?? It's irrelevant. Stop sounding like a 5-year old tattle-tale. That's just embarrassing. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  22. Let me get this theory straight: there was a fight, they pitched Cooper overboard. Do I presume correctly that this theory holds the FBI was not told this (otherwise why waste all the time trying to track down Cooper, plus they would have some idea where the body would have fallen?) My first thought was a tantrum on realizing that the good reserve had been cut up and the one that was left was useless (subsequently chucked out the door in same fit of pique) A couple of other points from previous posts: Re 377 saying Jo's post was absurd...well, many of them are. Re Jo saying Georger 'nearly burst a heart valve' - well, he had every right to. I obviously missed all that bit. I repeat, whoever outs someone here should be banned. There are those of you who choose to reveal your names, there are others of us who could probably be quite easily figured out, but the point is no-one has a right to out an anonymous poster here. Incidentally I have been led to believe that a certain someone was obliquely trying to out someone else (except they were wrong with the identity). That is just not done. My wish: world peace, and that we can stop getting repetitive posts that add nothing. Saying something over and over doesn't (1) make it true if it isn't or (2) make it relevant to the case if it isn't. Yes Jo, this means I have no interest in hearing yet again how you nearly got a perfect score in a real estate exam . Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  23. Blevins, I don't recognize that name but seriously hope that is some kind of joke. If that is either Georger's real name, or you think it is, you deserve to be banned permanently for trying to out someone. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  24. Welcome! Did you ever have any suspicion that Ted might be Cooper at the time? On an aside...re Kool-aid...well, Kool-aid on the late 60s/early 70s had another connotation too right... Did Duane know Ken Kesey too?! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  25. Jo, stop taking everything so damn personally. If your memory was so great, you would recall that the discussions we have had were in relation to what the witnesses claimed they saw. The world does not revolve around you. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
