  1. This is a really good observation! Does anyone here keep toothbrushes past their useful life? Would you keep smeone's toothbrush for sentimental reasons after they passed? This story is a load of bollocks. Jerry, did you ever chase up for Vicki on Mel? Did I miss anything on that front? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  2. Yup, and I buy that if Cooper knew a landmark and knew the speed he could figure out where to jump....IF he knew what flight path he was on. I've missed some pages, were the teases (Reno and Mexico flight paths etc) solved? I wanted to get irritated at the teases but they were too interesting. Except then I got sidetracked and haven't read back yet Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  3. The idea of Cooper using dead reckoning reminded me of this story...and how people can survive extreme conditions when badly equipped (and here I refer to the trek out of the mountains, not how they survived before that) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uruguayan_Air_Force_Flight_571 All that said I still think Cooper probabilities are binary: survived if trained, dead if whuffo. 4. Eh? Well, 377 and Bruce. The 'all' was in case someone else did and I forgot to mention them Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  5. ....and just to add it is less than 40 years since the Berlin Wall came down and Cold War ended too... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  6. ...I presume you are talking 'most important' in terms of the US only.... Dictators being toppled and waves of political change sweeping the world are arguably more important than a bunch of well-off-enough kids holding up a few signs, cndemning the multinationals whose very products they are wearing/using Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  7. The only way I could possibly come and enjoy myself is if I could throw a WHOLE bunch of wuffos from a GAWD DAYUM AIRPLANE I might even give a parachute to those I liked Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  8. I dont like your phraseology above, Mr Blevins, and I dont like where it leads. Cant you just leave children out of your comparisons and imagery, when slapping down adults? What do you have against red haired stepchildren that they get slapped down, in your world ? Their appearance? +1 Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  9. I'm on p1146. Other than that no comment on this useless Jo-Jerry debate, come on guys, it's wasting bandwidth like this just gives ammo to the guys wanting to shut this thread down. Can you at least TRY focus on the subject rather than continuously accuse each other of lies and threats? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  10. I've been away for a few days and there is far too much to read so can some kind soul fill me in on anything of importance please? Interestingly i just came across a piece of econometric research on skyjackings
  11. Not me, but a friend of mine has done it. She found it extremely spiritual and moving, but she is also a deeply religious Catholic. I am not sure what your beliefs are, but beliefs will surely inform the experience (I should think). Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  12. Many, many military jumpers have survived night jumps in bad weather, jumping with heavy loads. Whether or not a whuffo or inexperienced sport skydiver would be able to survive is another question. This whole debate about whether or not he survived is impossible without knowing what Cooper's background was. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  13. Jerry is right, it has no value if you know exactly what will be asked and how you carefully phrase both questions and answers!! In any case a polygraph does NOT distinguish between fact and non-fact; it distinguishes between what (most people) believe to be the truth and what they believe to be lies. So if a polygraph test asks Jo, "Was Duane Cooper?" her "yes" answer will probably come up as truthful. This doesn't mean Duane was Cooper, it just means that Jo believes he was. 377 will know better, but I presume this is one of the reasons polygraphs are not admissible in court, another being that a well-rehearsed person can beat it. I must say though this sudden turnaround on the lie detector test, qualified as it may be, is interesting. Does this mean all Jo's other "evidence" has once again crumbled to dust? In other news, most of the 3 pages I missed since last check are just blah-blah-blah...FFS... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  14. In SA it is tradition that you do your 100th jump naked. Depending on the club, you may well get a load of naked jumpers to do it with you. (I got away with doing mine clothed because I was doing a competition jump at nationals, novice category obviously, on my 100th) . Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  15. Oh boy...now we know the truth. It wasn't Knight, Friedman et al; it was actually Duane who started the tradition of the Chicago economists Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  16. Cost of Living 1971 How Much things cost in 1971 Yearly Inflation Rate USA 4.3% Yearly Inflation Rate UK 8.6% Year End Close Dow Jones Industrial Average 890 Average Cost of new house $25,250.00 Average Income per year $10,600.00 Average Monthly Rent $150.00 Cost of a gallon of Gas 40 cents Datsun 1200 Sports Coupe $1,866.00 United States postage Stamp 8 cents Ladies 2 piece knit suites $9.98 Movie Ticket $1.50 http://www.thepeoplehistory.com/1971.html Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  17. You see Jo, the problem with this - as I have mentioned before regarding this issue - is that Duane was a thief. We all know that. So I don't doubt such a large amount of money compared to his income was the proceeds of crime, but did it have to be Cooper? Not at all. In fact I would say the amounts are too low. It might be circumstantial evidence that Duane was a thief, but it's no evidence at all to prove he was Cooper. KC on the other hand, as far as we know, did not engage in criminal activity. So prima facie amount vs income ... makes it a bit more likely in KC's case than Duane's. But just a bit. I don't think either of them was Cooper. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  18. Off topic but Jo keeps bringing this up - about wanting to claim on Duane's ss under John Collins, when she is already claiming for her last husband. What is this? You can claim for every husband you had? If e.g. there were 4 husbands and each of them had 2 wives, can you really get a total of 8 claims? How is it even ethical to claim on more than one? No wonder the US budget is in such a mess if this is the type of stuff that goes on. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  19. Wow. Hazel may be variable, but a world of difference to that piercing blue in the photos. Tom, looking forward to going through your website
  20. Hey Jo...please then no more POOR ME posts... Precisely. Jo, YOU are the one who comes on here saying something is imminent. Then don't get all uppity when people call you out on the lack of what you have promised. Again and again. The fable changes from the little boy who cried wolf, to the old lady who cried Cooper....except there is no end in sight to this one. Jo, do you understand that you are the only person responsible for your complete lack of credibility? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  21. Witness testimony is far more likely to be degraded than DNA over 40 years!!! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  22. Well....Jerry will be proved a liar the minute Jo finally provides her proof ...what do you reckon the chances of that? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  23. I wasn't actually "hinting" at KC. KC, Braden, petersen, any one of thousands of mil jumpers or loadmasters....take your pick. Btw you make it sound like you think Cooper would be walking down the stairs holding a briefcase...I presume that's not what you meant. As for the rest of it...chutes and a heavy load = business as usual for a military jumper. But make up your mind...first you said backing down because he was scared, now because it's safer? Backing down might be safer, but an experienced jumper would probably turn and face out before jumping. But um....remind me why this mattered again anyway? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  24. Only if you've never jumped before, or never stood in the door of a plane at night like a loadmaster has. That scenario doesn't cut it for someone with jumping experience, especially if someone has been military and done those jumps at night. And I'm not so convinced he jumped in those shoes either. What was he doing in the bathroom? Did the stew who saw him put the chutes on confirm that he was dressed exactly as he was when he got on the plane? Incidentally I've seen footage of skydivers in suits before (admittedly not on a cold night!) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
