  1. You are correct we all use to lock in the reserve handles till we hit the DZ . If one was pulled on the ground it cost you a case of beer also one if you lost a ripcord.   3. I received notice this morning that William E. "Gene" Ritchie died on August 7, 2011. Gene was born September 26, 1932 in Stratford, OK and died near his residence in Kerrville, TX. Gene is survived by his wife of 40 years, June. Gene was D-256 and was accredited with starting numerous skydiving clubs throughout the years, including Ft. Hood Skydivers, Ranger Skydivers at Deland, FL to name a few. I have a attached a few photos of our years together at Ft. Hood Skydiving Club.   12. If you had ever landed running with the wind for the tee you would know why the pea pit was invented.   13. Anyone out there remember a Texas jumper by the name of Clyde Jaxs. He Jumped in the early 60s and had a Jaxs beer label on his helmet. I think he got killed in a plan crash in or around 1962.   15. I had a 7TU that we dyed with forest green. The orange turned out copper, the white gore turning forest green with green risers. We used 20 packs of RIT dye and a pound of salt in a commercial laundry mat on base at Ft. Hood. Then ran like hell before someone saw us or tried to use that machine - haha.
