  1. It worked for Kalied Sheik Mohammad, we held his family after we captured him, and he gave up a lot of valuable info with regards to 9/11. So your saying that by capturing thier families and using it against them, it would have no effect what so ever. There is a lot more that can be done, especially psychologically rather than just killing.
  2. Well if you really want an "out of the box" idea that would definately make the terrorists think twice then I think I have it. Simply killing and torturing most terrorists would most-likely have no effect on their tactics what so ever. The majority of Muslims, however, are a very family oriented culture, so if you want to hurt a terrorist begin targeting their families (mothers, brothers, mom, dads, children, ect...) This could clearly not be done openly, but even if it was done covertly then the terrorists would surely know, and may think twice. It is brutal, immoral, and sickens me to even bring it up(because their family members are most likely innocent), but would clearly be effective and I see it as the only option to disuade them, especially if you held the family members captive under the threat of death or worse. All you need is the names of the specific individuals involved in the acts, and then your ready to set out after their loved ones. Some may not even give a damn about their family members, but most would, as most arabs are extremely family oriented. Also any retaliation or threats thrown out there by these insurgents in responding to this tactic aren't going to be any worse then what they have already done or want to do to us in the future
  3. He is an adult, and should know that there is always a risk of pregnancy when having sex, so if he decides to go ahead with the act, then he should accept the consequences of his actions. Its not like he is being forced to sleep with her, and he can always say it's either a condom or no sex. I have had that scenario happen to me on many occasions, and I have yet to meet a woman who gets angry with me for insisting on protection, and if she does then thats a big red flag.
  4. Well considering past US-Iranian relations it is going to be difficult to negotiate with any president of Iran. Mohammad Khatami was the president from 1997-2005(moderate Islamist), and we still were unable to establish official US-Iranian dialogue. A lot of the this has to do with the power held by the Council of Guardians, specifically Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has continued the hardline stance of Khomenei. Iran will always be distrustful of the US due to the Mossadegh coup, and the instillment of Shah Reza Pahlavi as dictator from 1953-1979 with the aid of US and British Intelligene services. The fact of the matter is Iran will eventually have nuclear weapons, because the policy options available to the US are so limitied. Those policy options being 1.) Continue with the "Status Quo" approach, 2.)Selective Economic and Political engagment, and 3.) Military engagment. So no I don't think we will be able to unilaterally negotiate anything with Amadinejad who is a hardline conservative Islamist, and protege' of Khamenei, especially if we were unable to do it with former moderate Islamist President Khatami.
  5. It's hard to say what I would do in that situation, but it would certainly take a lot of "takes" or sedative medication to get me to cooperate in a video. I'd much rather piss someone off and be excuted by bullets, than be beheaded by a buck knife. Pretty easy choice actrually, especially if they dressed me in an orange jumpsuit. I'm not willing to take my chances and cooperate in the hope that I might be one of the lucky ones who have been released. I think we also have to consider that fact that most of us have not experienced that kind of fear and terror, which leads to more questions as to how we would react in that particular situation.
  6. Throughout the debate I kept thinking that Bush needed to get a drink of water or something, maybe it was the lighting, but he had a gob of that "white stuff" that accumulates at the corner of your mouth. It threw me off for a few seconds, but then I refocused.
  7. I agree Bush won this debate, and I also agree that it was inappropriate to bring up Cheney's daughter. Kerry could have effectively made his point without the reference, and I believe it may hurt him a little concerning his personal character. That is if the high volume of people watching did not turn on the MLB playoffs. We see what the spin is over the next couple of days.
  8. My grandfather was among the U.S. troops storming the beaches of Normandy. I know that he was shot a couple of times in the legs during the taking of Utah beach. I believe that after that, he was sent back to the U.S. due to the severity of his wounds. My grandfather's little brother (my great uncle) was a bomber pilot, who was shot down somewhere in Germany, he was classified as MIA, and to this day it is believed that he was killed in action. Not much else is known about what exactly happened to him, and were he was shot down. My grandmother didn't know all of details.
  9. So your planning to celebrate your wedding in a War Zone. Your reaching on that reply.
  10. I think canadian geese also mate for life, not 100% sure though
  11. I only have a couple of simple questions for the critics who disagree with our current foreign policy. What is your plan for dealing with radical islam (because IMO that is who we are fighting), and explain it in detail for me? If it contains better and more sound ideas then our current preemptive foreign policy then I'm on board, and maybe you should be running the country. I ask this because, most of what I have been hearing for the past year is criticism of the Bush administration. There have been no new and better plans presented, from those who criticise the war against the extremist sects throughout the islamic world. I would also be interested in any plan that would not involve any loss of life, if anyone out there knows how this might be accomplished please stand up, because the world needs you.
  12. IMO I think that success, creativity, and genius among married individuals depends the couples desire to continue to stimulate each other in new ways throughout their lives. This means actively making an effort not to stagnate into complacency.
  13. do not close the wound with superglue if it has been open to air greater then 6-8 hours. Closing the wound after this time frame will increase the risk of infection.
  14. If the Lac has been open to air longer than 8 hours they will not suture it. I don't think you need sutures for your injury anyway. Clean with soap and water, apply antibiotic ointment for a couple of days, and watch for redness, swelling, increased pain, and purulent discharge. If you have signs of an infection go to the ED, because you don't want this to develop into something more serious.
  15. Maybe they are afraid to touch the handle that flushes the toilet, for fear of catching something from someone who just touched themselves and then the handle. Another cause of this phenomenon could be that they know that flushing a toilet can throw toilet-bowl contents almost twenty feet through the air. They may be afraid of some random persons bodily fluids contaminating their person. Remember most public "johns" do not have lids. Just a little food for thought. If this is a problem at home, I really have no answer for that bad habit.
  16. Being a health care professional myself, and after reading that article I feel nauseous. I have to be honest, I thought he was the most charismatic candidate among the democratic field, but I have a problem with people who sue organizations (Red Cross) that benefit people across the world. At that particular time (80's) the red cross was still learning about HIV, and should not have been held liable.
  17. I also agree, I think that the framers wanted this country to be in an endless debate to stimulate people to form new ideas, which makes the U.S. one a the greatest think-tanks ever assembled.
  18. I do find it interesting how equally divided this country is when it comes to politics.
  19. I do know that there are other people running, but to be honest I feel that either Bush will remain president, or Kerry will be elected. Some of us may not like this fact, but I believe it to be the truth. Feel free to write-in your choice for the presidency.
