  5. Ok, my first break was on Christmas eve, free jump, sunset load. Beautiful skydive, opening great (new canopy) and wearing my boyfriends jumpsuit (I forget why) and he said not to get it dirty, sooo it was a long spot and I made it back the furthest. I was coming in pretty fast and decided to slid on my feet and sit it down. It didn't work out that way, my feet stuck in the mud and the momentem of the landing popped my leg off of my foot and dislocated it to on top of my foot. No skin broken but did break all 4 corners of my leg/ankle area. Plus 1 inch of my fib broke out. A plate with 5 screws on the fib, bone taken from tib for the fib, 2 screws from front of ankle to back and a pin in tib. Merry flippen Christmas. But made it home by midnight of Christmas to open presents. No limp to this day (good doc) Skydiving gave me a reason to live I'm not afraid of what I'll miss when I die...I'm afraid of what I'll miss as I live

  14. All I know so far is the funeral will be back east as some of his family is from back there. Per his request, there will be a wake at Cal City in the next following weeks but no time frame has been established yet. I will let you know when I do. 15. Must be because after 30+ years, I still can't get enough of them. Skydiving gave me a reason to live I'm not afraid of what I'll miss when I die...I'm afraid of what I'll miss as I live
  16. Joe passed away this last weekend of a heart attack. RIP Joe. Skydiving gave me a reason to live I'm not afraid of what I'll miss when I die...I'm afraid of what I'll miss as I live
  17. Like they said, I think part was sensory overload and part cold. Also not mentioned is (was it cloudy?) sometimes if you are going through a thin veil of clouds, there could be rain in there (or in the air) and you are feeling that on your face. If feels like you are on a motorcycle going 100 mph in the rain, it HURTS. Try jumping again in the warmer air and see if you still feel it. Congrats on your first jump of many more to come. 19. I don't know about everyone across the country but I do use the kicking method of letting folks around me know I am looking at them. Skydiving gave me a reason to live I'm not afraid of what I'll miss when I die...I'm afraid of what I'll miss as I live
  20. Extreme or Mainstream? Both, does it matter? Skydiving gave me a reason to live I'm not afraid of what I'll miss when I die...I'm afraid of what I'll miss as I live
  21. Then you haven't met me... cause I definitely don't feel this way and I think I'm a member of this generation. Of course I suppose the fact that I don't make my money through skydiving (but through something unrelated) probably is a factor. I didn't mean everyone and I know there is still some of us that do give back as often as possible. I was brought up with the idea that shareing your knowledge is just something that you do for your fellow skydiver (family). But now a days, especially in freeflying that once you have a (local) name for yourself, now you can and do (charge) others for your knowlege and I don't think that's right. Aren't we all still a close knit family as before? Skydiving gave me a reason to live I'm not afraid of what I'll miss when I die...I'm afraid of what I'll miss as I live
  22. If you're driving up to the Sequoias, plan on a couple of days up there. It's beautiful and you can't see much in a day. Like Bill said, Temecula has a ton of wineries to check out and you could go up to Idlewilde to see some snow and pine trees. The view of Lake Elsinore from the Ortega mountains is real nice as well and there are some trails up there to hike. 23. I swear, this generation of jumpers think they should get paid for everything. They won't coach without $$and you're lucky if they even talk to you and give some general advice. What happened to the days when we all loved to share our wisdom and experiances? Hell, why don't they just charge us just to watch them skydive too? Sorry, had to rant and vent. Done now Skydiving gave me a reason to live I'm not afraid of what I'll miss when I die...I'm afraid of what I'll miss as I live
  24. Explain? I never heard that. I'd like to hear it too. I was told (#11) on the post above (ron's list) that it was a line caught in the grommet. I was there and heard it from his team mates.
