  1. Possible business decision to compete against the yet to be released ARGUS that has this as a feature? I think this is bad news. Sadly we now know cypres can be fired by radical canopy manoververs. It is designed for the vast majority of skydivers, and I think the lesson we can take away is if your doing HP radical landings switch it off. To design ( like Argus) a unit which recognizes deceleration from opening and switches off is getting overtly complicated and asking for trouble. Example: is it going to get confused by a sudden delceration from a wingsuit flyer, or switch itself off following a mal which has temporaily slowed the jumper down before he cuts , goes back into freefall and can't find his handle? I won't be testing it. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  2. doesn't make sense mate. work it out -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  3. so this is a sky hook would have save scenario, from waht i am aware that is why they exist. i wouldn't have an r.s.l. but i want a skyhook. Its still an RSL, just a different type. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  4. THe answer was 'no' At this moment HE (Efex) can not have a skyhook installed on this rig ( a non-RWS) . Can I make the answer clearer for u? -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  5. If you only brought a month ago,l why didn't u have it installed at the time? Why a month later? -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  6. no -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  7. Rob, what about the bombproof riser protection on the Vector iii. Significantly better , even when compared to the mirage. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------

  11. I'm not really concerned about your pilot, it wasn't my question. And 200m = 600ft which is a perfectly acceptable opening IMHO seeing as u asked -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  12. Yes but not all the time, usually it's about 500ft. Rarely I have these long snivels which is why something must be happening. I wave at 3200 and dump by 3000ft, the last one had my bottom dytter setting going (2000ft) which is my decision alititude before opening hence a near cut away. If it happened all the time I'd change sliders or pull higher but it doesn't hence wjhy I'm perplexed! -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  13. I do , just not when they go on too long! -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  14. Hi peeps, I know Sabre2 openings have been done to death, but I wanted advice form fellow owners and riggers specifically about long snivels ( hard openings/ off headings etc have been discussed lots). I have had a few 800-1000ft snivels on a SABRE2 150 recently, one which i nearly chopped. I pro-pack, and do not roll the nose in. Has anyone experienced this or have any advice? Cheers
  15. I hope I'd never had to, but I tell u what, if I was under 1000ft on any standard rig with or without an rsl and my canopy was destroyed u only have one option- pull silver and get fabric over head. The reserve may never come out of its bag if your not going fast enough, or it may entangle with whats left of your main. Basically its not good, u know that your 100 times more experienced. A skyhook gives me the option of getting rid of the bag of shit above me and putting a FULLY INFLATED reserve above my head in less than 100ft. I'll take your point on board and rephrase my point ..under a grand its one hell of an option don't u think? But no I wouldn't be trying it at 300ft, even though your point is semi -inaccurate as I'm sure your aware there have been 2 demo's from sub 150ft ( slider down admittedly) But like I said I wouldn't be trying it that low P.s i wouldn't be wasting time looking at an alti which could be 200ft out if i was in shit at low level -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  16. RWS skyhook, if someone takes my canopy out at 500ft I'll be the one with the fully inflated reserve at 430ft (hopefully) -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  17. Yes that makes sense Tom. I also mean't a container lock versus pilot chute in tow, where I know some advocate just pulling silver, but for the likes of me would be pretty hard to distinguish quickly. So I think I'd just to standard EP's (for now anyways) -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  18. To the likes of many lesser experienced jumpers myself included, chances are we are not going to be to be using time up looking behind us trying to decide if its a pilot chute in tow or a baglock. In reality we're just going to go for EP's. And that would be cut first ... -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  19. ***I look/reach up to stoe my slider and my chute goes into a hard spin. I forget the slider for the moment and go for the toggles to try to counter the spin. The left toggle comes off in my hand with no line attached, I realize that the steering line snapped upon opening and that’s the reason I’m in the spin. *** I'm pretty new to to the sport so may be wrong, but personally stoeing the slider is a convience and I'd always make sure I've got my toggles first and am happily in control of a good canopy before worrying about collapsing the slider. Just a thought.... -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  20. Bill ( I've a Micron so am very interested in what u have to say), I understand less unstowed line equals less entanglement risk on flaps, but presumably this increases your risk of off-headings or more seriously line twists? -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  21. 4000 ft is quite high to regularly pull, do u not find this causes probs with other jumpers? -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  22. This sort of response is most interesting in my opinion. Not a month ago there was a huge debate on here concerning gear, as related to someone not understanding how to use their cypres. I believe that everyone who owns a skyhook should know how it works and the benefits that it may have. There was never a mention of cutting away at minimum altitude for the fun of it. But if my canopy gets hit by a passing airplane wing at 400', then I'm already dead. If knowing that my skyhook can save my ass better than just pulling my reserve, then by god I want to know that. (Not that I have a skyhook or that it is the better response, but everyone should know their equipment and never be discouraged from learning about it) Very interesting point you make. At 400ft on a normal reserve fire with a damaged main ( so probably slow speed deployment), you will most likely be on the ground before your reserve deploys on its own, if indeed it manages to come out of it s bag. If you cut WITH a skyhook your odds actually improve over just deploying the reserve. Any thoughts...... >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> According to TSO test standards, if you pull a reserve ripcord at 300 feet, you should have a fully-inflated reserve before impact. That doesn't really help Rob. Does that still apply in a slowspeed mal under a damaged main Rob? I don't know but I thought in those cicumstances there can be insufficent drag to deploy the reserve, surely if you have a skyhook it would be better to cut away.... -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
