  1. Don't quote me on this, but although your correct, having a real lose band/stow, even though its the first one, could mean lines becoming unstowed as the bag leaves, and potentially the bag could turn through the lines causing a malfunction. I think its unlikely that a regular band on a double stow will cause a bag lock however. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  2. Scary dude, you report this to the CAI, they may have a chance of tracing the pilot? -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  3. But the catapault is not in main use is it? I'm sure there may be a few out there, but if everyone was using it, you may see one, no..? Me I'm no expert but have seen this 2 PC bridle showed to me by Colin at Empuria, and I don't like it. i don't want two PC's on the same lanyard dancing around above me. But that is simply my prefernce. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------

  6. Hey dudes, i'm in Brisbane for a few days in late June. How far away is the local dropzone? I'm assuming it is Toogoolawah. Can u bus it or do u have to have a car? I'm there on work but would like to pop in for a day or two mid week, if anyone can help? Thanks Si -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  7. I have my rig on as an addition on my home insurance policy, costs about 40 quid on top of the normal policy, and is covered up to 4000 quid, any where in the world. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  8. Why are you flaming a dealer on 'BEHALF' of someone else? If they have a gripe they should be posting, or better yet NOT posting and speaking to the dealer themselves. Especially as the person concerned is as an AFF instructor, I would assume they are vastly more experienced than yourself? -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  9. I'm no expect, but there is a small possibilty that, it could of happened the other way, i.e if your lines became prematurely unstowed during deployment, you would of recieved a hard opening and the possibility of a line over. Any riggers care to elaborate, if I'm right or wrong? -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  10. I'm with you on that one. I don't understand why some people big themselves up on here and knock posts, we're all here to learn. Thx for the Bill booth link. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  11. There is always the possibility, that you throw the main, its okay. Then a bit lower, you fuck with the cable trying to push it in, or it just works out and you've just lost your main at 500ft........ I'd say try the main, but if in doubt get rid. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  12. I keep it simple and do red followed by silver, so I don't spend 5 seconds of decison process before I choose a handle. Although my personal feeling is thats the better option of the crapshoot anyway. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  13. I find I have much nicer openings when I push the nose of my Sabre2 in. This obvioulsy won't stop you getting slammed if the slider's off the stops but it definitely gives softer openings. IMHO -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  14. Cool. I htought the potential problem might not be about whether the band would break or release its lines, but that it could if doubled jam in the grommit? -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  15. Interesting, maybe I should carry on the way I am. All very confusing -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  16. Its not that small bands wouldn't work on the outer grommits. I just remember being told that small bands weren't as good as large ones when I was learning to pack. I can't rember why though? Thx for the advice guys, I think I'll try small bands on the 2 outer grommits.Better safe then sorry. Does anyone know what size the grommits are on a V310 #4,#5? -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  17. Don't recall saying it was a miracle device. Just replying to your comment that a skyhook can cause a total, whilst implying a normal RSL can't. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  18. Maybe We're misunderstanding each other... As far as I'm aware you can't cause a skyhook total by a packing error. You would have to sew the hook on incorrectly, which would take either a rigger or be at the time of manufacture. Then it could produce a total, by causing a reserve pilot chute in tow. Although its not strictly a total as a release of the rsl shackle should sort it. Anyway my point was any RSL can be misinstalled by someone, you don't necessarily need a hook. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  19. I've got a Sabre2 150 in a RWS V410 bag. It has four grommits down the middle. I have always single stowed the centre(first two) and doubled stowed the outer 2 gromits as I like my lines stowed tightly ( I am using the larger rubber bands not the tiny ones.)I've never had a problem so far, but a packer recently watched me and said you should never double stow on a grommit. Asking round others say what I am doing is cool, and its better to have the lines nice and tight. Can any riggers give advice? Thanks -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  20. It doesn't have a hook on the bridle that if installed incorrectly can cause a total. It would have to be wrongly installed at manufacture, i.e stiched wrong, not just misrouted. That could apply to any RSL. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
