  1. You Yanks, need to learn to spot a bit of scarcasm -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  2. Its mounted correctly, but do you mean the plastic rotarty? If this is the case I haven't as there being 2 ventilation holes in it, I assumed it would be sufficent? -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  3. Hi, I've got a prop-dytter externally mounted on a cath helmet. Sometimes when I'm tracking off at break height, I struggle to hear the second beep ( I know you shouldn't rely on it) , but it does kind of defeat the point as I'm straining to hear it in a track as well as concentrate on my skydive. I've removed the lining inside. ANyone else have this problem, any fixes ( fitting it internally is not an option in my tight fitting helmet!) Cheers -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  4. Judging by the length of your post, you're the one who seems to have got bent out of shape! I get it alright. What u don't seem to get is unlike yourself I never said my opinion was better, I simply posted some comments about the mirage, as I have recently brought a rig and did a fair bit of research (and extensive advice from very experienced people). I've always got my ears open, shame yours aren't to people with lesser experience. chill man -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------

  6. Here we go , another you've not got as many jumps so you shouldn't comment post. I simply pointed out that the mirage is a copy and the vector has some advantages. You've got 400 jumps so you must know the dog bollocks...not! -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  7. ehm because mirage g4 looks better, doh... and they are both about same quality. emmh, and mirages have skyhook, emmh and they haven't just had a service bulletin , mmmh and they're not a 2 year behind copy of a vectorIII , and mirage put alll the R and D in not RWS mmmmh.........I wonder -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  8. Why buy a copy? If u like Mirages why don't you get the state of the art version: Vector III
  9. The problem with tunneltime IMHO, is that it may be a really good 'tool' if you want to get much much better very fast (2hrs airtime in a day) but I started skydiving because I wanted to go skydiving dudes! Getting out in the sunshine, getting in a plane with mates and having a good time is the crack, if it takes me longer to get better doing the real thing so be it! -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  10. Only 85 jumps on a ten year old rig? I smell a rat -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  11. At Empuriabrava, a very busy DZ, there are many windsocks indicating the wind, and a very large horizontal white 'T' on a pivot that can be clearly seen from 4000ft down. In decent wind this will also indicate landing direction. In very very light winds the DZ Controller anchors the 'T' in the designated landing direction. Althlough i only have a 100 jumps I've never seen a near collision, or people landing in different directions. It seems to work very very well, and for me the thought of having to spot, then watch a much lower jumper and where he's landing seems like an unneccessary complication. IMHO
  12. I have looked, and I can't find anything relating to Florida weather and jumping conditions in may/june? -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  13. What do u mean, season is over, why is that? -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  14. Me and a couple of mates are off to Florida from blighty, probaly in May. Is this a good month for jumping (just checking its not high wind/rain month or something). Also which DZ's do people reccomend, looking for somewhere with plenty of socialising, and bars around ands about etc. Not that we're alcoholics or anything! Oh yeah and we want to jump really big planes as well! Cheers peeps -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  15. I'm a relatively new, but I was under the impression that ZP PC's gave a faster opening, which is important in BASE. While my knowledge is small, this is not a logical argument for using it on a skydiving rig, where a slower steadier PC might be preferable. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  16. I'm sorry to hear that. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  17. Being that I like women, I'm afraid not mate! I understand your points. -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  18. Yet we still see, 2 sub-100 jump wonders continuing to debate the nuances, and intricacies of something they clearly (in the actual setting ...not just "clinically") DON'T KNOW SQUAT ABOUT, PERPETUATING their self generated FALACIES (ooh ...lets forget about what Skratch Garrison has to say, or Michael Owens, or others with 1,000's upon 1,000's of jumps, and literally DECADES of EXPERIENCE... that's right, let's just IGNORE them, and continue on with our butt-slide babble ...because between us with this babble we'll figure this one out better than they ever could for sure! ). ....DOH! *** I'm not sure if that referred to me, but I didn't make any comments on the rights and wrongs of butt slidings. I've never done one and have no intention of doing one diliberately. All i said in reply to: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, don't slide on your butt. You shouldn't need to slide at all. But if anything slide on one thigh and cheek. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- reply If you're gonna slide it in, I can't think of any reason you wouldn't be better off rolling over to one cheek. Esp on grass, it's pretty soft if the speed is mostly horizonal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WAS Ummh, I'm a newbie jumper, but I know a fair bit about anatomy and there would be much less lower spine trauma sliding on one side (i.e one cheek and leg) then just butt sliding . I'm a surgeon so I'd hope my knowledge of anatomy would stand up.I did not advocate any butt sliding for or against. Doh -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  19. Your attitude is logical, I find it hard to fault, yet this is what we were taught, which also makes sense..... Maybe the logic is you have a far greater chance of a main entanglement which may not be chopable and cause two messed canopies, whereas if u go for silver you have a much much better chance of a clean deployment whilst tumbling? But i know what u mean about using up your reserve. Bill you know your stuff, any comments? Any Brit instructors want to add their thoughts? Cheers freeflysmiley -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  20. Just out of interest in England, we're taught if we're completely unstable, and can't recover (by tracking) fo whatever reason, to pull silver. Reason being spring loaded RPC goes for clean air, and a far lower chance of an entanglement with an out of control skydiver. Any thoughts people? -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  21. thx -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
  22. While I acknowledge your experience and appreciate your advice, no I don't think you or anyone else has precisely answered the question. You referred me to a video ( of a cutaway at 600ft which I don't think many people would do), and have talked on not delaying between chop and reserve pull. My question was: I'll post it again if I have any confidence you were reading the question?(Joke!) -------------------------------------------------- Practise the 6 P's! --------------------------------------------------
