    USA WAKE UP!

Because they are not. China is emitting roughly the same amount of CO2 as the US, but has a population that is more than 4 times that of the US. I know it's hard for you to see yourself as anything else than the saints of the planet but in this case you are clearly not.

    USA WAKE UP!

For real??? Ever heard the saying "when America gets a cold the rest of the world gets the flu". It's in no ones interest to halt the US economy. To imply that is just silly.

    USA WAKE UP!

US is a part of UN. A very important part. In this case the US have been the obstructing part. I believe that there is a sense outside the US that the US don't like the UN because the UN doesn't always want the same thing as the US. Lets face it, you are used to be the alpha dog, and maybe you have lost the feeling that you need to compromise on anything.

    USA WAKE UP!

That would be fantastic. ... but isn't it a bit ridiculous to blame the UN when you are the bad guy.

    USA WAKE UP!

I'm just arguing that the reason that the united states doesn't sign the Kyoto protocol is purely for selfish reasons. Trying to make the case that it is for the progression of the rest of the world is just silly. Just to clarify: I'm not trying to say that the rest of the world is morally superior. I'm simply saying that the previous argument is bad.

    USA WAKE UP!

Thats an innovative argument: You must destroy the environment (everyones... not just yours) so that you can ship some burgers... it's for our own good. Hmm... Kind of far fetched don't you think?

    USA WAKE UP!

If you look deep into your soul, could the western world ever morally argue that we have the inherent right to use more resources in the future, just because we did so in the past? There might be some imperfections in the Kyoto protocol but at a truly moral level we in the west are taking more of the cake then we deserve. As usual. In this sense the Kyoto protocol is a steal for the US, but instead of seeing it as one the US choose to be the spoiled kid.

    USA WAKE UP!

Does it really matter where they meet? You seem to be good at destructive arguing, wonder where you learned that? Can't we all try to lift the issue of the survival of human kind slightly above that level, please.
  9. I'm not sure if this is a local thing but where I jump, at least the local, ambulances use maps with numbered sectors. We have a few copies of these to use in emergencies. It was I who bought them cause I thought it was a really good idea, but 5 years later I'm still not aware of a single occasion when they have actually been used ... /Martin
  10. I believe there is about 2 million inmates in the US right now. That makes the cost of correction somewhere just below 50 billion dollars. Priorities!?
  11. To make one thing clear, I live in a country where I have had to go through military training. Fortunately, the last time my country was at war was over 200 years ago. So, I have some insight into what it means to serve even though I've never been in combat and probably never will have to either. I do understand the difference between the US and Israel, but I still think that a part of the problem that US-forces have in Iraq is that there is too many trigger happy GIs there. Looking at some videos on the internet it seems as if there is quite a few soldiers who enlisted only to blow things and people up.
  12. ...or you would have an army of people with lots of life experience and knowledge, but not quite as trigger happy as the ones that would sign up by them selves. You could argue that it's a deprivation of ones freedoms to be forced into the military but the argument that the army itself will be worse is just not true. Would you call the Israeli army unmotivated and dysfunctional?

  14. I have, as I said before, and I can tell you that they are doing everything wrong in that aspect. /Martin
  15. Well... Of course it's a wild guess. But building a little fortress of chairs and tables in the middle of a mall seems to indicate a somewhat distorted perception of the surrounding world don't you think? I think your totally out of line with the tricuspid valve vegetation diagnosis. It most certainly must be a bicusp valve disorder...
  16. I agree with most of what you write but I would say that the problem in these situations is the total lack of knowledge to handle persons with certain types of mental disorders. I'd guess this guy had some kind of psychotic condition. Had the police officers known how to handle this person they might not even have had to put him on the floor. The police (and society in generall) are so afraid of these persons, and it is without real reason. It is true that these patients have a somewhat greater risk for being violent but it really is not that much greater than for anyone else. I've worked on a psychiatric ward for detainees, and it's amazing how someone could barely be carried in by 8 big guys in full armor suits and when they arrive to the ward and the nurse greets the person and offers a cup of coffee they seems to just calm down in a second and from there on the nurse handles the patient by herself/himself. In part I have to agree with Canuck in that these officers acted way more hostile than necessary.
  17. - 15 minutes, thats impressive for real.
  18. The problem with this statement is that scientific evidence suggests that beating up kids only makes them more prone to bully. Where I live all physical punishment of children is forbidden and I'm pretty sure there is not more physical abuse in schools here then where you live. /Martin
  19. I think your not being totally honest when you say that. I'll bet a buck that the guy who's actual landing is cut out at 1:25 landed on his ass. Had he been coming in with ballistic speed, it would at least been entertaining :) /Martin
  20. He brought 500 bullets and used about 70 of them, according to a Swedish news source. /Martin
  21. I'm pretty sure that the manual for the pt6 (at least the -34 version) states service cycles for a long list of fuels such as 100 LL. Albeit they are a lot shorter than with jet A1. Considering the basic principles of a turbine engine, anything that is possible to make into a fluid at a reasonable temp and burns should be possible to use as fuel. /Martin
  22. Checked skydivingmovies.com for new movies a few minutes ago and found this message. Makes me kind of disturbed... whats the story behind it? /Martin
  23. It's also interesting to see that the Optimum sizes are in between the standard PD sizes. The Optimum 126, for example is 270 qi according to the specs you show. Which is right in the middle of the PDr 106 and 113. And again ... thanks for your effort.
  24. I wasn't trying to be rude. I'm really sorry if it came out that way. Just wanted opinions from people that had actually tried. /Martin

    longest tube

Depends on if you want it to look good and keep inflated. If so, you need to make it really wide. The problem is that it will be extremely slow. I have built tubes that where about 30 feet long, and already at that length they where getting kinda slow. If you want to discus any further feel free to PM. /Martin
