  2. I hope you guys do decide to come down. I had a blast at the Freeflight festival. Hopefully by June we will have both the Caravan and our new King Air running for maxium fun. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  3. I think thats the hit or miss phenomenon NewClearSports was talking about. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  4. I agree. Keeping your head on a swivel is one thing; however it is a bit ridiculous to memorize "watch out for John on the green canopy doing a 180, Kevin on the blue doing a 270, Mike on the red doing a 360, and Jeff on the orange doing a 540." I would almost say the effort of looking for those specific canopies would take your overall situtational awareness down a bit. That's exactly what I am saying! For my own protection I general know all the swoopers at my DZ and watch for them if they are on my load. I also stay away from the swooping lane (I pretend there is a vertical column that extents 2000 ft hight over it) that was setup last year considering that most of the swoopers use that. But there are a few guys who don't and they are the people I really watch for. But I can only do this because I jump with these people all the time. I couldn't imagine memorizing canopies if I travelled to another place. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  5. It's your responsibility to watch EVERYONE on the load under canopy. Just like it's theirs to watch you. Seperate landing area or not. Not heeding that will produce the same amount of canopy collisions. Blues, Ian Of course it's your responsibility to watch everyone but to now have to watch everyone and pick out the swoops from the crowd seems to be a bit much. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  6. But now instead of making it the responsibility of one jumper to swoop in a designated area you have made it the responsibility of everyone on the load to watch for that one guy. What happens if there are multiply swoopers? You have to memorize all of there canopies so you know what to look for? What happens if you are new at the DZ? Now after signing your wavier and taking a look at the aerial map you also have to memorize all the different canopies people might be swooping with. Separate the landing area. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  7. Loading up on SDA's King Air during the Freeflight Festival. Most of these guys are the LI crew. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

  10. Thanks for the response. The worst part about this whole thing is the wait, not knowing if you got busted or not. I don't know what the time period is between getting it and then recieving it in the mail. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

  12. Do you know how much the ticket was? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  13. Has anyone here run a red light and been caught with one of those cameras? I did that tonight and think I might have been caught. I didn't realize there was a camera and thought I could make the yellow. I am looking to see how much the ticket cost you (this happen in NYC). If you live in NYC then I would really like to know how much this cost you. Thanks. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  14. lol! Dude I will so be up there. I am going to try to make it to different places atleast 1-2 weekends a month. The Ranch just has a much bigger fun jumper crowd. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  15. Did you use paypal? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  16. I have been to the Ranch twice and both times it has been way to windy to jump (plus once it was the swooping competition). I really want to get up there since I want to grab skinner for some coach jumps and now I might have to add some canopy coaching too. I really need to make it a priority to get up there! _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  17. I have been slowly getting into playing with my front risers closer to the ground. I have only been doing 90's into final and I am still trying to dial in my crossfire 2. Most of the time right now I am coming out of the dive about 50-100 feet too high. I am trying to work it lower. I am doing a long, slow carving turn (a tip I got from an instructor). I pull down the front riser slowly and then slowly let it up. I try to be either one of the 1st people down or the last to make sure I have enough airspace around me to do so. Am I approaching swooping in the correct manner? How many 90's should I be looking to do before I move on (200? 300?)? The only swoopers at my DZ are the camera guys and they hard to get advice from. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

  19. Our normal aircraft is a Caravan and this year we should see an addition of a King Air. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  20. That is where I am confused. There are no other aircraft operating out of that airport. We have the airport pretty much to ourselves. The only time there are other aircraft is usually when a skydiver takes his own plan and lands there. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  21. Is that a USPA DZ? -[/reply Yes it is ..At the end of the year there were 25 students and only one AFFI.I did all 7 levels with one AFFI I would say one vs two AFFI is dependent on the type of AFF program you have. I know a lot of USPA dz's who have students do 1-3 tandems before AFF. Then all the AFF jumps are done with one instructor. Otherwise straight AFF usually uses 2 instructors. That's exactly what we do, 3 tandems, then 1 AFFI for all the levels. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
  22. But no one ever takes off from the 7,000ft runway. The only other traffic I ever see there is other skydivers landing there personal planes. I still don't get what the exact problem is. For anyone who hasn't been to SDLI this is a picture of our layout from google maps: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=skydive+long+island&layer=&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=40.953203,61.083984&ie=UTF8&z=14&ll=40.911826,-72.791977&spn=0.03827,0.059652&t=k&om=1 The 10,000ft runway is located on the right and SDLI itself is located half way down the runway. These runways use to belong to Grumman. They use to test fly the F-14's on this site. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
