  1. Lisa, I think Chuck was addressing Dan's ability to test technical aspects of a canopies design, not his ability as a salesperson. In other words he was saying Dan's qualifications for testing the crossfire come from his engineering background and not his canopy sales background

    Ground Launching

    Would you explain reverse launching?
  3. I hope you aren't serious and realize we are talking about the nova canopy.
  4. If you would read the entire sentence you wou see that I said " I am not talking about the poster of this thread," That would be mike.
  5. I don't fly a stiletto any more but I used to. As far as the comment goes about stilettos liking to land swoop style, the stiletto lands great straight in. It will land straight in as good as any canopy put there.
  6. For anyone who is interested in finding info on the new precision canopies, there are descriptions of the full line up in the new paragear along with suggested retail prices. If anyone has jumped the new Xaos-21 please give me some feedback.

    Ground Launching

I don't have any info to share (sorry) but I would like to know whatever knowledge you already have on the subject. This sounds vey interesting.
  8. I think people are jumping to conclusions. There are about 25 crossfires at my dropzone and we have never had an incident. We did have one that would buck under hard front risering right out of the box last year. It was determined that the line set was not rimmed properly and after this was corrected it has flown perfectly ever since. Canopies collapse every day. There are a lot of crossfires out there and if you look hard enough, yes you can find evidence of collapses, just as you can with any other canopy. I am not talking about the poster of this thread, but you will also find a lot of people who would like to blame the canopy for their bad canopy skills.
  9. This is exactly what we don't need here. How is it a bad subject because it causes a lot of discussion. Isn't that the point of the forum? We also don't need flaming as in just "follow the pattern assholes". We are trying to gain insight and continue to develop knowledge on how to keep skydiving safe. Not all DZ's have seperate landing areas. As for everyone else, I respect and appreciate the input you have given even if I don't agree with it. The reason I started this thread was because of a problem we tend to have at our drop zone. People are taught to do S turns if they are going to over shoot the target. If this person is on a large slow canopy and they make very large S turns it can be very difficult for someone who is much faster coming in to land from behind and above. I agree it is the responsibility of the faster canopy pilot to avoid the slower one. Our problem is that we have had a whole group of people have to land in a tight area at the edge of the landing area to avoid one person. This makes them land very close to one another in an already tight place. While this has worked so far, It would be much better if we taught the person flying the slow canopy different techniques to loose altitude and not overshoot the target.
  10. You are right. Crestview is no more. Brigeta (I butchered that spelling) is flying somewhere in Alaska, and Bob Holler jumps at Emerald Coast. I jumped at Emerald Coast for a couple years but now I jump at Gold Coast. Emerald Coast has a twin Otter and a grass runway. It has an indoor packing area. Moss Point has a Beech 99(sort of a big king air with the door of an otter) and a 8000 foot runway. Moss Point is busier but will be a longer drive. If you need directions send me a private message. 11. Just because you are not ready to fly camera yet does not mean it is to soon to start gathering info. I have been flying camera for several hundred jumps now and I would advise people who are interested to start asking questions and gaining info no matter what their experience level. That way when your flying skills are good enough you have more knowledge to make good decisions.
  12. Who is that? I am actually considering an FX104. I should have a 109 to demo soon.
  13. maybe I can get some sleep now.
  14. I guess you want to sell that fx now?

    ICARUS

Hmm First ever post and it is something like this. I wonder who Volo really is. Troll? ...but for whom?
  16. Does that mean we can skydive or not?
  17. Sorry but the USPA requires at least a D liscense to shoot up afghanistan from a sport rig.
  18. You know, as much as I have heard about this I have never seen a problem that could really be proven to be caused by it. I have one of the older Javelins without this bridle cover and have never had a premature.
  19. When the landing patterns that are currently taught to students were developed nearly everyone took the same kind of approach. Now that high performance landings are more common shouldn't we rethink our traffic plans to take into consideration high performance landings?
  20. Unless the fish was a piranha.
  21. It will be Ok in the rig. Just make sure when you pack it the canopy goes all the way to the edge of the bag. Rather pack it wide than thick. Also you might need to shorten your closing loop. I am currently jumping a Crossfire 119 in a J3. I just don't pack it tight and it still fits fine.
