  1. http://www.exoticmetals.com/aboutexotic/history/ I'll bet these 727 flanges were made from titanium alloy and not pure titanium, but it's worth looking into. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  2. From Citizen Sleuths site: (emphasis added). I've been looking for industries that used stainless steel and titanium together. This led me to AQUEOUS HOMOGENEOUS REACTORS, devices which can use ORDINARY URANIUM ORE (not enriched isotopes) to produce power. from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aqueous_homogeneous_reactor Above quote from from: http://web.ornl.gov/info/reports/1960/3445603615210.pdf No proof that Cooper worked in nuke power or research but you do find the tie materials there. Now back to our main focus, Blevins bashing and personal bickering. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  3. And Bruce, Ralph Hatley HATES HATES HATES Obama so don't lean left in his presence if you want a cooperative interview. Ralph probably has his own ideas about Norjack and it would be interesting to hear them. He has been part of the NW skydive scene since dinosaurs roamed the DZs. VERY knowledgeable about gear. He might be able to look at the pics of the dug up Amboy canopy and see clues that others have missed. Be sure to show him the photo of the data panel, the one with the date stamp on it. Ralph would give you a warm welcome if you were a life member of the NRA, but somehow I doubt that you are. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 4. Jo, Every jumper from the old days knows Ralph Hatley. No néed to be secretive. I've purchased gear from him. His place is stuffed with old gear but he sells new stuff too. Good prices. He knows a LOT about NW skydiving history and all the characters. Would be a good guy for Bruce to interview. 5. Ring. Unambiguous shape and feel. Easier (IMO) to find in a tumbling panic. Higher snag hazard but worth it when you balance all the risks and benefits. I don't ever expect to have a hard reserve pull with modern gear I but had a VERY VERY hard 4 pin main pull on an old unextended surplus container back in the late 60s, a DZ rental rig. I absolutely needed that ring and both hands to get the pins extracted. Couldn't have applied enough pull force with a pillow. Have done 2 cutaways. I liked having a ring to pull. Easy to see, identify, grab and pull. I've seen heads up smart jumpers with reserve pillows so obviously there are differences of opinion. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 8. Jo wrote Now I understand. The constant attacks on Blevins are part of a smoke screen psyops protocol. Now Blevins can rest easy. G means no harm or insult. 9. It correlates with Duane's military ID number for sure. And Duane knew Georger. I never would have guessed that in a hundred years. Georger's silence or denials will be deemed admissions by Jo. He cant win nor can he run or hide. The case for Duane=DBC is getting stronger. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  12. I'd be very leery about buying an alleged Cooper twenty with no serial number, but maybe its provenance was verifiable through FBI photos. The value of Cooper twenties could plummet if a big stash was found. They will probably go up if Cooper is positively ID'd as there will be a new wave of publicity and interest. I didn't buy mine to make a profit. I just like having it, looking at it and trying to imagine Cooper's jump and how this bill ended up at T Bar with a stack of cohorts. It was fun having it displayed at the Washington History Museum. I wonder who has the other T Bar twenties and what they do with theirs? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 13. Danielle1010 wrote I think the USAF made a good call on that one. I'd be hesitant to give Mythbusters anything more lethal than a slingshot. They have repeatedly demonstrated an inability to run safe experiments. It's one thing to endanger willing participants and quite another to put a cannon ball into the home of innocent bystanders. They could have EASILY killed someone in that demonstration of lax attention to detail. Part of a good safety culture is figuring out what will happen if something goes wrong and taking steps to mitigate the risk. They rely on insurance more than physical risk mitigation. 14. G wrote: Funny Georger. That's EXACTLY what my wife was doing to get this 21st century Maytag to wash with hot water. Of course I had to find an electronic solution. I never did see any particulars on JTs claim that at least one of his Washougal launched balls ended up at T Bar. What ever happened to JT? I miss his posts. Maybe he retired on his gold mining income and is just kicking back. Wouldn't that be nice to have gold in your back yard? Here in Silicon Valley all you find when you dig is toxic waste like trichloroethlylene. The T Bar money find is corrosive to my brain. It eats at it. I just cant figure it out. I though Tom K did a good job of examining the possibility of natural transport to T Bar. He basically says no way. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 15. Discussed but no solid conclusions. One hell of a pilot. The account of him wrestling a DC 7 into an Aleutian runway in screaming crosswinds was impressive. His patent evidences an extraordinarily deep knowledge of 727 systems. I'd sure like to know if he had parachuting experience. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 17. Jo wrote I too got snookered into buying a new Energy Star Maytag washer Jo. The reason it uses less energy is it controls the mix of hot and cold water and NEVER lets you use really hot water to wash. I got online and found the schematics of the temp control circuitry and have figured out how to spoof the thermistor water temp sensor signal so that I can get hot water when I want it. Back to the topic of Cooper. I've been trying to find more info on Norton Thomas without much luck. I don't suppose Duane knew him. I've also been trying to find any info that might verify the claims that some kids found tattered twenties at a different spot on the river and before the Tena bar find. No luck. I wonder if Galen has given up on Gossett? His long promised book isn't happening, he hasn't found any stashed Norjack cash in safe deposit boxes and Blevin's photo of Gossett close to the time of Norjack sure doesn't match the description of Cooper, too heavy. But I guess its possible to change weight fast if you want to. One guy who Bruce and Snowman researched was Don Burnworth, a United Airlines Captain who had an amazingly detailed knowledge of 727 systems. His photo looks quite close to the FBI sketches: http://greygooseadventures.blogspot.com/2009/11/38-years-ago-northwest-airlines-flight.html*** I cant find anything verifying the claim that Burnworth had military parachuting experience, maybe Bruce knows. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 19. Sorry to hear that your Dad passed but glad your Mom is still around. I used to jump at Monterey a lot about 13 years ago. Mike Eakins told me Lynda dropped by but I missed her. Your Dad's tree save has to be one of the closest calls in skydiving history. One lone tree in the middle of barren ground and he nails it dead center, it arrests his fall and does not injure him. Truly incredible. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  20. If it was done by a rigger as a prop it would have been a good idea to take a big black magic marker and write "NON AIRWORTHY, see line attachment points" on the data panel. I am embarrassed to admit that I looked at it a few times before I noticed the sketchy way the lines were attached. You see the lines attached to the skirt, you see the normal attach points and your mind fills in the rest. You think you are looking at a normal line attachment. I am not a rigger and don't have a rigger's critical eye for hardware anomalies. It sure is a clever way to reline a C9 in a few minutes. I have over 100 C9 sport jumps made mostly in the late 60s. What an incredibly tough chute with suspension lines spanning the entire canopy. But my C9 landings were bone jarring, every one of them. Good PLFs were mandatory, otherwise your jump money would be going to an orthopedic surgeon. I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I made my first jump with a borrowed PC. Still jumping. Triathlon 190. Sweet soft landings every time. So glad ram airs came along. Lets older jumpers stay in the game. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 21. I'll send you a PM with my name etc. I started jumping at Livermore in 68, FJC from Perry Stevens. Was on John Lewis's last load in 73, jumped with Roy Starbird and Paula Peterson. John crashed right in front of us just after we landed. Snap rolled into the ground during a high speed buzz job. I was first on the crash scene hoping for a miracle. It was horrible. I remember many Cal Club jumpers: Bill Stanley, The Haleys, Pete Kaltov, Eric Anderson, Paul Laput, Merle (big guy, cant recall last name) The Soles Bros., and many others. Got to jump with Bill Stanley, Theresa Stanley (Haley) and Allen Silver at WFFC a few years in a row. Do you know any details about Norton Thomas? Some think he is a good DB Cooper suspect. Reportedly vanished on a trans Pacific Twin Beech ferry flight after the crime. No trace ever found. I saw the tree that saved your Dad. One in a million luck. So much barren ground, so few trees, and he had no control over his landing point. Are your folks still around? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver.
