  1. On links. See pic below. 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  2. Bought this dirt cheap at a swap meet from a vendor who had a truckload of 100% govt surplus stuff, 99% of it was cold weather garment liners, coveralls, and a few Nomex flight suits. This was the only parachute gear. It was a 28 ft C9 with lines and links. Got it home, looked closely at line attachment points on the skirt and WHOA. Take a look at the attached pics. I can't believe this was military rigging. Or licensed civilian rigging. Canopy had no sport mods. All 28 lines were attached this way. Opinions? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 3. Jo wrote The best defense against civil lawsuits is poverty. Just stay poor and you'll be OK. Bruce is bullet proof in this regard. Many people labor under the illusion that they can get a contingency fee lawyer to represent them on personal beef lawsuits. Unless there is insurance coverage or a big pile of money or assets belonging to the potential defendant AND provable libel, slander or some other viable cause of action, then it wont happen. With all the talk about and fear of lawsuits expressed here over many years, it hasn't happened even once and I doubt if it ever will. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 5. Drama drama drama. All this talk about hits, threats, arrest, litigation... Nothing that dramatic actually happens. What generates this illusion of importance? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  6. Jo wrote Maybe you should turn the drama knob down Jo. Nobody is going to murder you over anything Cooper related. It's just not that big a deal 43 years after the fact. Unload that gun too. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  7. Fair enough. But, the question has to be why do you talk about this stuff on the thread? Do you know who I work for? What I do for a living? Do you know this kind of personal information about anybody else who posts on this thread? Does anyone else post what other projects they're working on? Does anyone else post running updates on local sports teams' scores? Some of the comments are harsh, I agree. But, they're also a way of saying -- Hey, Robert. You're oversharing! I kinda like some personal stuff in posts. I really liked seeing Shutter's magnificent project photos. I liked it when Georger posted about his cows and when Jerry posted about his gold mine. Any time Amazon posts about fishing or her military parachute training hijinks I love it. I even enjoyed Jo's ranting about the smokey inconsiderate neighbors. It can be overdone though... It's good to see that folks who post here have day jobs...lives outside of the Vortex. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  8. Jo said about Bruce Not true Jo. His investigation of chute ownership is just one example. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  13. Jo, You cant possibly KNOW that Duane installed nav devices on those three towers. Its just a wild guess and, in my opinion, an incorrect one. As I posted before: So given the above what sense would it make for Cooper to have elaborate covert electronic navigation gear? I am VERY glad to learn that you are not on death's doorstep. I hope the docs can help to resolve what currently ails you. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  14. Jo wrote: Wrong Jo. Those so called trackers that McChord had were simple locator beacons that transmit a swept tone on 243.0 Mhz when activated. They transmit in the blind and have no means of being "pinged" like a transponder. They were installed on ejection seat chutes and some bailout chutes. Some of these military locator beacon transmitters were installed in the chutes given to Richard McCoy but as I recall he tossed those chutes out to confound searchers. The URT 21 was a typical locator beacon used during the Norjack era. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1GGGE_enUS523US532&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=URT%2021&safe=off I've noticed that no matter how much anyone tells you about wireless nav and comm technology available in 1971 you don't change your mind one tiny bit. E.g. Duane had a CB that could also communicate on the VHF AM aviation band, locator beacons on power transmission towers were used by Duane, Duane had concealed means of using VOR stations to determine his location, etc etc. Cooper wasn't flying the plane or giving detailed navigation orders to the crew. So what use was all this alleged high tech gear he had? Cooper probably could do some eyeball position estimating through breaks in the clouds if he knew the area. What need would there be for precision navigation gear if you are not controlling the flight path? It might help you determine a good exit point but eyeball nav would do that too. McCoy and Heady landed amazingly close to their intended destinations and neither had anything but eyeball nav. Hey, you essentially said on this forum that you were at death's door and then issued no further word on your medical condition. Did you get some better than expected diagnostic news? Hope so Jo. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  16. First jump 1968. Still jumping. So six decades? Skydinosaur, but a very grateful one. So thankful for gentle landing ram air canopies. I don't miss those cheapo landings. I'd be 6'3" instead of 6'2" had I not done over a hundred C9 spine compression jumps. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  18. Don't underestimate the prestige and notoriety of being associated with the DB Cooper caper. I was disappointed that the FBI never contacted me. I think lots of jumpers lied about being questioned by the FBI. It was a status symbol. Still is to some folks. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 21. I'd rather read an off topic Blevins manuscript than endless insults and attacks. The flap posting I made suggests that Cooper might have been aware of the flap issues on the 737. Max flaps would have been a bad idea. Gear down, unpressurized and 15 degrees of flaps pretty much assured him that he wouldn't be facing an excessive fast or high exit. Clever or lucky? I vote clever. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  22. Jo wrote When people can't solve a puzzle they resort to conspiracy theories. Blame it on the CIA or Howard Hughes. Hughes was no government favorite. They hounded him mercilessly and forced him to give up control of Hughes Aircraft Company. He spent the last years of his life unsuccessfully trying to stop underground nuclear weapons testing that he feared was poisoning him in his Las Vegas hideaway. All his money and power had no effect. The tests went on. I worked at Hughes and had access to massive records about Hughes. He wasn't as omnipotent as people like to think. He was always battling the govt and seldom won. There was a dark side too. He had very young girls on "movie contracts". Faith Domergue- actress and long time Mistress of Hughes as a teenager until she was 20. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  23. Jo wrote Jo, Why should the FBI admit that Duane was Cooper? You've presented no evidence that proves your theory. None. Zero. Your dogged insistence and unshakable conviction are not substitutes for probative evidence. Not even close. You waste increasingly precious time raging against Galen Cook. Focus on relevant evidence not personal squabbles. How did your diagnostics turn out? Good I hope. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  24. Jo wrote Occam thinks it's far more likely that you were a careless driver than a a target for assassination by automobile. Killing by car would be a very stupid method as it leaves far too many clues. One of our forum members commented on your driving skills. Said they were not good. The police report put you at fault, correct? Sure, it could have been the other drivers fault but that's a far cry from proving that it was a botched murder attempt. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver.
