  1. mental preparation: trust. thats it. trust that your tandem master will do everything right because what happens to you happens to him. and trust your equipment. watch the altimeter on the way to altitude, that way you know its working. relax, and enjoy the biggest rush of your life. just remember whatever you do, NO grabbing the TMs hands. 2. 15, 2 months shy of my 16th birthday, to a girl from Bayonne, NJ. i guess she was charmed by my southern accent... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  3. never gotten queasy or pukey myself...probably a matter of perspective and expectation - i equate that weightless feeling with "Hot shit, here we go!" As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  4. it was just in the news that the Vomit Comet is accepting civilian weightless rides...for 3K a pop!! i will stick with Mike Mullins KingAir. every ride to altitude i have been on includes a zero-G standup before exit... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  5. recruiting? dont bother. my whuffo friends constantly give me shit, one even told me if i bounced he would laugh because thats what dumbasses who jump out of PGAs get. Aggiedave is right on target - wear a skydiving teeshirt around...if someone is interested they will ask. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

    Iran

thank you Darius. everyone listen up for a little history on the peoples involved in this debate: Iranians, Afghans, Tajiks, and Turkmen are Persians. Arabs and Jews are Semetics. Azeris and Kyrgyz are Caucasoids. Sudanese are Nilotics. Algerians are Africans and Berbers. the link? stupid Americans think because these countries are majority muslim (Isreal excluded of course) they are populated with Arabs. NOT TRUE. other heavily muslim countries include Brunei, Phillipines, Libya, Mali, Chad, Nigeria, Tanzania, Somalia, Djibouti and Indonesia. none of which are considered arabic with the possible exception of Libya (and that is very arguable). As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  7. the arab reaction to isreal is almost universal - i dont understand it myself since they are both semetic peoples. however, the mistake you are making is saying "muslim extremism". the majority of muslims are NOT arabs. Afghans, Turkmen, and Iranians are persians. Kyrgyz and Azeris are caucasoids. then there are Phillipinos and Indonesians (Indonesia is the most populous muslim country on earth by the way). the Sudanese are actually nilotic, the Algerians are africans and berbers, etc. yes, there are militant and fundamentalist muslims, as there are christians and (believe it or not) jews. however, saying that "muslim extremism" is mainstream based on the Arabic reaction to Isreal is a grave mistake IMHO. 8. Good Luck to them? you might want to consider travelling to a muslim country to see what these people are really like. it would shatter your current beliefs. muslims tend to be the friendliest, most welcoming and caring people i have encountered in travelling. the country where i received the most hospitality? Afghanistan in September 2002 - no i was not there as military, just wanted to see for myself. i never lied about being from America or being a christian, and was treated with the utmost respect. in fact, i am returning this month to visit the many friends i made there. and trust me, as one who has been there and knows - there is ample outcry against the extremist radical muslims - most afghans do not even consider bin Laden to be a muslim, and become quite angry if anyone says he is. 9. is their a manufacturer that makes the quick snaps with a screw lock? i used to rappel, and my main carabiner had a screw lock that prevented any chance of an accidental opening, also ensured that it was snapped completely closed.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  10. heres a hopefully helpful reply from another post... "§ 91.211 Supplemental oxygen. (a) General. No person may operate a civil aircraft of U.S. registry -- (1) At cabin pressure altitudes above 12,500 feet (MSL) up to and including 14,000 feet (MSL) unless the required minimum flight crew is provided with and uses supplemental oxygen for that part of the flight at those altitudes that is of more than 30 minutes duration; (2) At cabin pressure altitudes above 14,000 feet (MSL) unless the required minimum flight crew is provided with and uses supplemental oxygen during the entire flight time at those altitudes; and (3) At cabin pressure altitudes above 15,000 feet (MSL) unless each occupant of the aircraft is provided with supplemental oxygen. Jumpers don't have to use the O2, it simply must be available. Here is CO, jumps are made all the time from 17,500 MSL and no one uses O2. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  11. my A proficiency card has just one H&P from 3500 AGL... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  12. obviously full of shit, has it been 2 years or 4 or 10 since his last jump?? and why mention that he "used to jump in the '70s" if he has done jumps in the '90s or even more recently (like i said, 10 years, 4 years or 2 since his last jump)????? you made the right call, i dont need hundreds of jumps to sniff out the bullshit in his story... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  13. how exactly do you force them into a downplane??? As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  14. naming a canopy after a method of suicide is probably not the best marketing idea.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  15. from what my instructors told me, the adrenaline rush you get needs sugar to stop the queasy feeling. i never really got queasy, but a friend of mine did on her tandem and once she had eaten some sweets she said she felt much better.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  16. if the Feds started this then i guess they know i can speak some Dari now...so what? like i said i have nothing to hide, i have lots of friends in Afghanistan, and have lots of friends here from Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, etc. again, so what? hey Feds, i also speak some arabic, are you gonna take me to Guantanamo when i get back from Kabul in november????? assuming i get back, Inshallah As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  17. i went to Afghanistan last september, made lots of friends there but some couldnt speak english and i had to use a translator. i am going back next month to visit them, and decided that i wanted to talk to them without a translator, so i am teaching myself from a book and some cds i ordered. couldnt find any dari/farsi classes locally so that was my only option. i am also learning to read, i have the alphabet down and i can phonetically sound out most words, so now its just a matter of getting my vocabulary up to speed. and the FBI has been monitering me ever since i went to Afghanistan, so what? i have nothing to hide. and yes, i went as a tourist, not military As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  18. asalam alaykum. nam-e shoma che ast? chetoor hasti? man Amrikaey, nam-e man Dan ast. khosh amadid. hope you can understand me, i speak Dari, not Farsi. still learning so i may not understand what you reply As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

  20. yep, thats the one. i thought it was a 170, just want 100% sure. yeah, that F-111 just doesnt flare...may be time for a new skin on it. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  21. just for the record i do know how to do front and rear riser turns, flat turns, and half brake landings. they are all on my A proficiency card and i have been practicing all of them. i am in no way saying i am experienced enough to think that i could deal with that given situation perfectly - i will dscuss it with my instuctors. thanks - i am always looking for hypothetical situations and how to deal with them. my instructors will probably cuss you though - i ask LOTS of questions probably i would go to half brakes to slow my forward motion and (hopefully) sink faster to avoid the hazard, hold it at half then flare and PLF - but that is without asking, just my gut feeling. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  22. i believe the reserve is a 170. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  23. okay i put my exit weight wrong, it is 235 jumping a 210. i jumped the 190 last week, i would much rather jump it than the 210 i jumped yesterday. it was an older Javelin, didnt slow an inch when i flared and i slammed in fairly hard (PLF anyone?). second jump was the same thing except i planed out and slid in, still pretty fast. hopefully this week the 210 hybrid i usually jump will have the Cypres fixed having read all these responses i can honestly say that i have no desire to downsize too quickly - in fact i was apprehensive about jumping a 190, and i would not have jumped it except my s&ta told me it was okay for me to. no offense, but i trust him (he knows what my landings are like and my canopy skills/habits) a LOT more than anyone online who doesnt know that info regardless of their jump numbers. at any rate, i will jump the 210 hybrid from here out unless it is not available. 24. i really wouldnt care as long as he wasnt on drugs or suffering the aftereffects when he was doing the tandem. and as long as he was good. does it bother anyone that most tandem masters drink? whats the difference as long as hes not doing tandems with a massive hangover? As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  25. okay so what wingloading do i need to be at IYO? i do NOT understand wingloading at all so please explain. i get the part about weight vs canopy size but thats it. and i trust my TS/A, he would NOT advance me too quickly. i might have been wrong about my exit weight, i weigh 210 lbs. i assume (from what i have been told) that the rig adds 35 to 40 lbs. as for the 190, it was faster than the 210 i was used to, but not that much faster. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
